My tunnel and links will look exactly like this, even ghd OPs car is same year as mine. Only difference is he has ths T9 installed with a bespoke connector link. Abd he's RHD. I suppose the best I can do is mill smooth-side flats onto the shifter stems so the link, a solid piece of 1" dia steel rod, tapered in the center with matching cut-outs on the ends, will have a flex-free connection. I would need a method for locking out reverse, which is the opposite side of the Escort. Perhaps a Ferrari type gate box with a physical latch over R?

gotta love that wiper motor!

I wouldn't rule it out based on a few comments. There could be design and quality issues you might improve on. The more I consider it, the better I like it as the shorter path to a result of getting car on road.

wow! beautiful work. My pan is similar, a wedge, rear floor even with the bell housing. It doubles as a skid plate, LOL. Do a hand crank with the pan on top to ensure the rod bolts dont hit anything.

Caterham Will Show Its First Electric Car Later This Year

Well, now that I read the articles, its this: Well, its not a 7, nor should we compare it to a 7. Cat will continue to sell 7s. This will flop. Like the 21, a bigger car company will bring a competitor that checks more boxes. Once again Cat will learn.. -

Who buys 7s today? Not gear heads. Software engineers wanting a toy. They won't want to get dirty. Components of an EV are about as reliable and maintenance free as you can get. If all you have to do is plug it in at night, thsts a win for a lot of future customers. With much cooler feet. -

Hello, For you with the 4 speed Caterhams you have a remote shifter extension built into the tunnel connecting a shift knob, probably Escort, to the transmission turret via a ladder type linkage. Has anyone successfully used this shifter extension on a T-9 5 speed? Or can anyone say if this is plausible idea or not? Thanks.

Enough oil changes! Get it to an engine man. There's nothing there that's special, its 30 yo technology already.

I am in a similar situation with a car that I let sit for 10+ years. Partly due to a minor accident that would have required skill sets I didn't have to repair, partly due to the the current life events at the time. It was just easier to store the car for better days to come. The sad thing is I was in my prime with plenty of energy and brain cells to do the work. Better days finally came 11 years later. Much can change in 11 years and not all better. Now, the ravages of neglect have created a lengthy punch out list of repairs required. I have read of many 7s that became sleeping projects. Lar's 7 @Vinman1 restored is a prime example. I call it the curse, and am convinced there are hundreds of 7s languishing in barns and gareges everywhere. I am a perfect example of everything I critcise. I just don't want anyone to go through lengthy delays like I have. Today, the most I can accomplish are small projects, one at a time, when I can work them in around the honey-dos, time off work and moments of clarity wirh everything firing.

I am the one who made statements that Chris may be retired, based on some comments over FB messaging. My impression was we would be semi-retired staying involved in the business on the back end more with his son to run the front end. I didn't have a timeline for this but Chris was incommunicado for many for a very long time. Maybe things have changed? Maybe he took a long vacation? Im glad hes back, but I have yet to hear from him myself for my most recent inquiries, Apr 15. Im in the same boat, needing a part from a seller (Rally Design) who refuses to sell to USA and Canada. Already sent Chris a request for this but, nothing. I assume he is very busy with UK orders.

Did anyone get the name of that tank? Ebay linky no worky. Its either this or a Concept Racing tank, which is nice but I don't see a USA seller. So probably from Merlin in UK. The one on Pegasus has a .75" bottom barb, too big for 5/8 hose.

Any idea what they weigh? My Caterham supplied Two Gates Minilite/Panasport types are 13x6 weighing 11.56 lbs. They do not have any race use only type markings. If your wheels are half the weight of mine, they may not be safe for street use.

The Seven is not for street use. Its a CYA thing. If the wheels grenade, they can say they told you so.

There are specifics to creating a proper S2. I agree some things should be done right. Like proper nose badge placement. Some things are personal preference, like painting the rear tyre carrier the body color like red or green. Fine if that's your thing. The casual observer won't know its not the Lotus way.
