That's the spirit that makes the extended Lotus community so wonderful.

There should be at least two Lotus VI at LOG 30. Both Kyle's with a 1172 flat head Ford from PA and Pat's powered by an early MG engine from FL. Both were at LOG in CO. I think Pat's car is the aluminum and red car in the pictures. Pat did some demonstration Laps at LOG 29 at the Barber Motorsport Park. Both are great guys with a great depth of knowledge about the history of Lotus, the cars and racing. They have helped me in my search for cars & parts.

The car looks vaguely familiar to me. Was it at one of the LOGs in WI, NY or Canada?

What? Is the giant Ford sticker a disguise?

There are a group of Denver CO area people that are going to drive to LOG. There is at least one Lotus Seven and a Elan in the group. I think they are all part of the LOCO club. You could hook up with them. The date for LOG was chosen, by the locals in part for the weather. The apple harvest festival is the week prior to LOG. Get the local tourist guide at http://www.gettysburg.travel/visitor/guide.asp This is the best site for Gettysburg climate that I have found http://www.city-data.com/city/Gettysburg-Pennsylvania.html

There is a Gato class sub in Manitowoc Wisconsin. It looks roomy inside until you think about all the people and stuff it held when it went to sea. Even the modern boats are quite tight.

The horror of additional weight! You might as well drive an Cadillac Escalade!

What about the problem of finding vintage air for concours? -
Stopped at the local Ducati dealer this morning, it would be a shame to hid an engine like that.

Tuesdays are the traditional home made pie sales by the Amish of the area.
-
Try and get there in time for the complementary reception (i.e., free feed sponsored by Lotus USA on Friday evening).
-
It isn't very prominent on the Lotus Ltd web site however there is an ombudsman. log30questions@gmail.com This email address will get you the official answer for any question you might have.

Do you trust your 7 for a week long trip? (reliability)
DeanG replied to Bster13's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I believe in doing a series of shake down runs. If you can: 1- Successfully drive around the block - 1 mile you can 2- Cruise the neighborhood (it took 3 weeks of effort to go from step 1 to step 2) - 3 to 7 miles you can 3- Drive a 20 mile loop you can 4- Drive a 50 mile loop you can 5- Drive a 200 mile loop you can 6- Drive continental distances -

A bit out of the Ragtops & Roadsters in PA. They have a good pannel beater and the marketing guy owns a Birkin.
-
There was a device built, I think, by Mike Costin (of Lotus then Cosworth) that smoothed the airflow around the windshield. Unfortunately, Collin Chapman hated it. I've never seen a picture.

Glutton for punishment award? -
Was trying to get a guy to bring his set of scales. Unfortunately talking with him today he was complaining that they are broken and it will cost $500 to repair (sounds a bit steep to me). I will keep working on him (he is not a Se7en owner but he wants to build one). Does anyone have a set of scales they would be willing to bring to LOG?
-
The Se7en is probably the best auto-x car that is also street-able. I've only done 5 autocross runs in my Se7en but did well considering the engine and tires. It was great being able to see the tire placement in relationship to the cones. I will be running the auto-x this time around. Because this auto-x is being design by a Lotus guy for Lotus should make it especially fun. The drivers education event is being headed up by a Esprit owner who is a professional driving instructor at Summit Point. He is a good guy so this should be an exceptional event. Shamefully I haven't sent in my registration yet but I will do so today. I know that there are a bunch of Lotus folks in the Cincinnati area. A group trip on back roads would be fantastic.

UK Ebay "Here we have a 1/2 scale Lotus 7 replica for children. The engine is out of an automatic Piaggio 90cc moped front mounted, it has electronic ignition and electric start. It has a custom made box section chassis with mild steel sheet metal body / Bonnet. The wings & nose cone are fiberglass from the Grasshopper section from Locust Kit cars. This car has suspension all around with a fixed rear wheel drive axel. The break is a drum break and off the original moped which is inboard mounted. The size is 6ft long and 3ft wide and will require a trailer to collect..." http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Childs-scaled-lotus-caterham-7-unfinished-project-/170505570445?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item27b2ec888d
