  1. My recollection is that 10 are planned. It may turn out to be 12 if the hotel has to use their larger tables to accommodate the crowd.
  2. I can suggest some things for us members of USA7s. Breakfast meeting - the hotel has a buffet For those attending the banquet grab a table. Is anyone going to the banquet who will be arriving early Friday? If so, consider volunteering to take names and sign up a bunch of people on a USA7s table. Pick one of the rides and go in-mass Auto cross grudge matches
  3. Try the K&N site. They sell thing there that they won't sell through their authorized dealers. They sometimes undercut their dealers. http://www.knfilters.com/

Today I received a letter confirming my LOG registration. It details the options I chose (e.g., events, food, merchandise) has a schedule of events and directions. Everyone who preregistered should have received a confirmation letter or should be receiving one shortly.

Registration reports 178 cars listed as coming to LOG. Possibly the largest gathering of Lotus & Se7ens in the western hemisphere.
  6. I believe you can sign off on your own car. Last year I thought about doing so but had a mechanic who supports some vintage racers do the checking. Get the official word from log30questions@gmail.com This year I will attend the track day as a spectator if I can find the time. I don't know how much post LOG work there will be for the committee.

  8. Truthfully there aren't may hotels but there are enough and they will be cheap. Kanab UT has a few. Almost any town will have one. The loop is about 700 miles so 2 days at a minimum if you want to see things. I would plan to start out going to the south rim and stay in the national park if I could get a room. That way you could get an evening and a morning view. You cold then decide to press on for the loop or just take a trip to Flagstaff and back to Las Vegas.
  9. With a bit of luck the roads in the park will be open to private vehicles. Consider a tour around the canyon. The N. rim is very different, much less crowded. I have driven I-15, rt-89 - rt-89A loop and I-40 in our M100 during late September. Wonderful. Spend time walking and looking. It is the most spectacular natural sight my wife and I have ever seen. It takes a bit of time for the magnitude of the canyon to sink in. Watching a thunderstorm roll through the canyon was the highlight. Good luck.

The official LOG 31 announcement will be made in just a few weeks at LOG 30 (Gettysburg PA).
  11. Resurrecting this thread. Our car is back from getting its bodywork adjusted. I started to polish it tonight. I am trying a different approach this time around. I am starting with a cotton polishing wheel on a DeWalt 7" polisher using stick rouge. It is cleaning up quickly and by polishing with the grain it seems to be doing a pretty good job. I will try and keep this thread up to date as I play with various techniques and grades of rouge.

The latest counts for LOG30 have 200+ registrants for 360+ people in attendance. This matches nicely with the 200+ LOG related room reservations at the hotel. LOG is a different experience. As you drive around you see other Lotus cars driving about and parked at the local restaurants and shops. Someone mentions that they heard about a good BBQ, ice cream, road, interesting auto shop and etc. suddenly a dozen Lotus leave in a group to check it out. You hear yourself and others saying "I never saw one of those before." If you have mechanical difficulties someone has the part you need, another has the tools you need and someone else has fixed the same thing and can tell you how to do the job and avoid potential pitfalls. There will be an argument about a historical point concerning Lotus or racing and (except for the question of the origin of the Lotus name) someone who was there, built the part or raced the race will chime in. You owe it to yourself to attend.
  13. Do you have a close up of the grill of the Yellow car? It looks interesting.
  14. Even though I've never ridden a scooter I want a classic Vespa. I do recall an article where Freddie Spencer was in Italy riding two up on a scooter and raced a moped rider riding two up. It was a classic race of power (scooter) vs. handling (the better lean angle of the moped). The other guy never knew he was racing the then 500cc world champion.
  15. I suggest claying the car. One of my friends has a 20 year old Honda is both love of his life and his daily driver. We attacked it with clay and there was an amazing difference. We were a bit concerned with the thickness of the paint after 20 years of of somewhat regular compounding. The clay took off the embedded dirt and a bit of chalking. Looking good. Keep us posted on your progress.
  16. You even got the old girl to shine a bit!
  17. Looks good. The left side seems to have a bit more haze that the right. The back, which will be covered by the spare tire, looks awesome. Give us some details on the polishing procedure that you used. Those Dell'Orto are rare and worth a few bucks.

You can change your registration including ordering shirts... at the registration table. The hard working Cora (who I believe owned a 7, and a Type 14) will fix you, or anyone else up. The first two lines of the Official LOG 30 Apparel are T-Shirt long sleeve ($15 ea) XXL ($17 ea) T-Shirt short sleeve ($14 ea) XXL ($15 ea) It will be good to see you and the BVMM Type 30 again.

There are now 190 rooms reserved for LOG attendees at the Eisenhower Inn & Conference Center. http://www.eisenhower.com/ On google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=39.764817,-77.267307&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=47.483365,79.013672&ie=UTF8&ll=39.764985,-77.267672&spn=0.002833,0.004823&t=h&z=18 zoom out a bit and you will see the sites of the hotel, trailer parking (marked) auto-cross and car show site (Boyd's Bears across Emmitsburg rd)
  20. Gustafson is a fan of Lotus. I remember when he sold starters out of the trunk of his car. I also remember him talking about his new 1/2 million dollar machine tool dedicated to making the end plates. A good guy, hopefully he will make an appearance at LOG this year.
  21. I've tried the worm-drive hose clamps on my Elan. They had too much preload. I noticed them slipping before they did damage. Scary
  22. Is that a standard grill or custom? It looks like you folks were having a good time. Keep up the good work.
  23. Anyone on the list? Love the V6 grill. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_LxZ4Mi3rR3Q/TH6TraVW8xI/AAAAAAAAins/ZLj36ZugWKQ/s1600/img_4144.jpg Caption was wasted seat http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_LxZ4Mi3rR3Q/TGukwBp3itI/AAAAAAAAiNU/FQ4X5OjQibY/s1600/img_0212.jpg

Get your LOG Preregistration done and in the mail! Two reasons to do it now: "Preregistration must be postmarked by September 1, 2010" Normal registration is an additional $25. Apparel "Orders received after Sept. 1 will be mailed after LOG, subject to S&H of $8 for 1st item, $5 each add’l item" So it will cost you more and you won't have that snazzy shirt or fleece to wear at LOG.

The car show and main banquet are Saturday. Some of the minor events are still being moved about. I need to mention that the car show is being held at Boyd's Bears http://www.boydsbearsonline.com/items/list.htm just across the street from the hotel. This makes it very easy to snag a gift for your significant other, children, grand children... Because Boyd's Bears is large, with heating and air conditioning and has a few places to buy food (e.g., ice cream shop) I expect my wife will spend some quality time in there during the car show. Since it is so close to the hotel it will be easy to bail out or return to the hotel to steal another towel to assist in detailing. Actually the last time I was there the hotel provided detailing towels. This is in addition to the car wash area at the hotel that is being handled by the LOG committee.
