  1. There are aero Se7ens being produced today. They are called Westfield Elevens.
  2. We've been to some of the places and some of the roads you list. We drove in luxury in our M100. Crazy Horse has a good museum. The pictures of Mt Rushmore fully capture it. Watch out for crowding. We were there in the end of September and the crowds hand were about 1/8th (at Mt Rushmore only 1 of 4 high rise parking garages was open and it was less than half full) of peak season. Check when the buffalo roundup is going on. We missed that by a day. Of things not on your list I thought Fort Laramie NP was closes to the traditional cowboy movie depictions of paradise. Good luck. Take and post lots of pictures.
  3. Only professional funny men will be allowed to drive it. Don't try this at home, this man is a professional.
  4. I replaced the rear springs on the Seven when I got around to measuring the ride height. I was very surprised to see a 1.75" difference between the largest and smallest readings. I now have about 4.5" of ground clearance measured at the bottom of the frame.
  5. Welcome aboard. There are many car/Lotus/Se7en people and events in the DC area.
  6. Amazing! Who would have thought?
  7. Welcome. There is a big group of Lotus & Se7en enthusiasts in the DC area. The DC Lotus Ltd bunch is active.
  8. I thought that Crane went out of business earlier this year
  9. Big motor mounts

There is more LOG 30 event information posted http://www.lotuscarclub.org/log30events.php Note that there will be a formal concourse as well as the people's choice show. This should bring out some additional very nice cars. Expect more announcements concerning: events, featured speakers, technical sessions and historic cars to be displayed as time grows closer. Would your company benefit from being a sponsor of this event? Consider the benefits of getting your message to to the assembled throng. This information is also online. The entry forms are also posted on the site.
  11. Call one of the Lotus specialists. Dave Bean, RD Enterprises, JAE, Sports Car World and they can tell you what are the best current options.
  12. Virginia is for Lotus! MEET-UP Calling all Virginia Lotus Owners!!! I know there are a good handful of Lotus Owners near the Richmond area! After a few discussions with several members, it only makes sense to invite all of you to a gathering! Before we set an actual Date, I'd like to know who is interested in coming and what they'd like to do. I don't have much on the agenda, but what is planned out so far can fill an entire day! !!Lotus BBQ Run!! (family welcome, but don't forget to bring the Lotus!) Date: TBD(End of May/Beginning of June) Time: 1:00pm - 8:00pm Location: White Oaks Luxury Apartments - Chester, VA 1:00pm - Meet at White Oaks Luxury Apartment (Meet & Greet) 2:00pm - Drive around (both commercial roads and crazy back roads!) 3:00pm - Back to White Oaks for BBQ and Pool Party 8:00pm - Wrap Up Event and Drive Home Safely! http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f113/virginia-lotus-meet-up-87208/ I think we will be going. If so we will probably attend a bit of the Williamsburg British Car Club drive first. http://www.wmbgbrit.com/index.html
  13. I did buy one many years ago to use on my Elan but decided the purchased version was too heavy. Can you imagine it is made of steel? http://www.teammiata.com/mall/TM305.aspx http://www.miata.net/garage/swingplate.html
  14. There is a cool Miata mechanism that holds front plate vertical when stopped but air pressure while driving causes to pivot horizontal. There is a big Lotus & Se7en presence around DC. Someone should be able to make a recommendation on shops.
  15. Thanks, I may give it a try.

We will be there and will sign up for all the offered meals. The food is pretty good at the hotel. You are correct. The Friday reception is included with the basic registration. We will be arriving on Thursday so we can tour the area. The big questions for me is the track day, should I or shouldn't I.

    Which car ?

Daytona Coupe would probably net the biggest ROI & restoration cost would be sub $200,000 VW bug the cheapest restoration Muria might be a good candidate You can find Porsche 911, 928 RR for under $10K in running condition. On Saturday a mechanic friend told me about a $3K brake job on an MG midget. Restoration is expensive. How do I know? Another $1K bill for the Seven arrived in the mail today.
  18. I think Andrew7 makes very good points. I would expect BEC's to require more maintenance intensive than Sevens with car engines. The weight of a Se7en is high in comparison to sport bikes (500 lbs, even a Goldwing is only 800 lbs). Another factor is that Se7ens have much more traction. Shock loads would be much greater.

    CMC Miata

Someone you have met through NASA should have access to scales. Even if you don't plan on corner weighting try and get a no fuel, high fuel with and without you in the car. It will give you something to ponder between track sessions.

    What am I?

That shard looks too familiar. Good luck.
  21. Flat black rat rod (rat Se7en) or is paint on the list?
  22. At least the rod will make a great conversation piece/paperweight
  23. On much lighter motorcycles I follow the Keith Code's Cal Superbike school approach. Up shift - load the transmission lever quickly back off the throttle then back on. Once the revs match the shift happens automatically. Down shift - clutch in, bump the throttle to increase match revs, push the shift lever down, clutch out, throttle to desired setting.
  24. Looks very good. Be careful. The clams could be scary at the kinds of speeds obtainable with a Stalker.

A new museum is opening near Gettysburg. Grist Mill to become Appalachian Trail Museum. http://www.atmuseum.org/ Approximately 15 miles west of Gettysburg. Yet another reason to make your trek to LOG 30.
