  1. Wow! Some pictures and a writeup when you get to that stage of construction would be great. An aluminum nose on a Se7en looks wonderful. Good luck.

The LOG30 T-shirt graphics have been finalized. Note the presence of a 7 series 4. We have ordered a few long sleeve versions to ward off the sun and sand when driving.
  3. OK but we need pictures of the interior and back. Don't hold out on us.
  4. I like the polished front bicycle fenders in the picture but it has too much contrast with the black. Maybe black cherry or something of similar darkness. Of course I want to see a harlequin Se7en. So my tastes are suspect.

Unfortunately not many details concerning LOG have been posted. Besides the already announced Friday night reception, Saturday's formal banquet and Sunday's less formal banquet, people's choice car show, judged car show, auto-x, scenic drives, gimmick rally and the arts & crafts exhibit. I know of the following. Satch Carlson longtime Lotus lover and comic car writer will be the Saturday evening speaker. Bob Dance, long time Team Lotus mechanic and Ken Szymanski Lotus F1 tire change (his is an amazing story http://www.nytimes.com/1987/06/15/sports/auto-racing-east-side-resident-helps-lotus-team.html) should be there. The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum will have a presence although I don't know exactly what will be exhibiting. Lotus Cars USA will be there. The Lotus factory seems to be cooking up something. They have given hints but have not said anything firm as yet. I'm hoping that they will bring the Evora GT4 and the T127 but that is just my wishful thinking and not anything more that that. I believe there will be technical sessions for the very early cars (e.g., MK6, XI...) Elans, and the Elise/Exige. I think I heard of a detailing session but I may be wrong. I was getting desert when this was covered. There is likely to be some authors doing book signings. Actually it seems like the place will be crawling with various editors, authors and publishers. There will be a car wash area and informal slot car racing. A few specialty vendors will be there as well as having a low key swap meet. A confirmation letter will be sent to all registrants. A lot of people will be showing up on Thursday including 20 or so LOG volunteers.
  6. Show DHL the old block. Tell them that when it was sent out it was OK so they must of damaged it in transit.
  7. Yum!
  8. 45's are a bit big but not outrageous. Most if not all came from the factory with a pair of 40DCOE18's. If properly set up the 45's should be fine. When you get it take some time to go over the car giving it a good cleaning and spanner check. Change the fluids and get some driving in. You will have plenty of winter to think about what you would like to do to the car and to do it. A Caterham will reward you with better reliability for driving it. Sitting doesn't help any car. Oh, if you change your mind about the engine I'll be happy to take the whole engine & transmission set up off your hands for $500
  9. A running Twink (English slang) with a Webber head with dry sump, carburetors... should be worth a couple thousand. Don't expect to get big horsepower out of a Twink without spending cubic dollars. I have heard of 190 - 220 out of full race engines. For that you throw everything away except the castings. Even then the engine is only good for 20 hours or so. A hot street engine may go as high as 140 hp. If I could up the power of my Twink from 100 up to 120 hp for a thousand I would be very happy. (I spent over $4,000 US to freshen the bottom end of mine and that was 20 years ago). I would keep the Twink. If I wanted a different engine I would buy a different car. You could be going down a path of different engine, transmission, differential, fuel pump, plumbing, ECU, wiring... Good Luck
  10. I need to see the Lotus Barn someday! The shelf looks like spares for an Elan +2 and assorted others. Thanks for posting.
  11. I like the way you routed the hoses... very clean engine bay. We are all waiting to some pictures of it being drive.
  12. The last picture looks best to me. I also like a color band around the intake.

  14. I'm interested. $10 I'd take 1, $2 I'd take 20.

Al; Bummer. Consider heading back to LOG on Saturday night or Sunday morning. xflow7; Take in a technical session or two, run the auto-x & tour the battlefield. Everyone; Read, or listen to a book on tape, about the battle before LOG. I'm not a Civil War History buff by any stretch but it made my visit much more interesting and moving. Anyone; My wife wants to take a horse back ride of the battlefield and doesn't want to be among total strangers. I want to stay away from horses unless they come smothered in onions. Anyone please, help me out here.
  18. Definitely a Lotus twin cam. Late-early style valve cover. Funky oil cap???

I just realized that it could have been called something like the "7 BC primitive tour".
  20. I get the same thing when I drive the M100. Styles may change but good design is timeless.
  21. Yep.
  22. Years ago I spoke with one of the few American WWI aces. He told me that if you had an engine that lasted 7-10 hours "you had yourself a honey". Combat, caster oil poisoning, fragile machines... Those guys had guts.
  23. Se7en makes the list http://jalopnik.com/5609161/ten-old-cars-that-look-new/gallery/
  24. Nice gear shift arrangement. Thanks.
  25. I used to run short stacks with K&N filters in my Elan. I pulled the filters out as far as I could toward the bell of the horn. When I put a stock set up back I was concerned with how close the horn was to the air box wall. I never could feel any difference but I didn't do any testing. Apparently the modern thinking is to dispense with the horn and just have a radius. I use that on my Se7en which has SU carburetors and pancake air filters. I got mine from http://www.aptfast.com/ you might want to talk with them.
