  1. Watch out for ringers. A few years ago at a local Lotus gathering we were racing R/C Elise & Exige. A 12 year old girl kicked everyone's butt.
  2. Ski pants would do the trick. I will probably wear the fuzzy high tech pants I use for sailing in the fall & winter. In the above I forgot to mention I also had a vest and motorcycle gloves. My gloves need a bit of TLC. I haven't ridden much since I stopped trying to road race. That was over 20 years ago.
  3. OK folks someone with deep pockets needs to step up http://www.racecarsdirect.com/listing/28121/John_Player_Special_Race_Transporter.html
  4. Took the car back to the shop today. 9 miles in 45 deg weather. The engine temperature was up to 90 deg when I shut it down to push it into the shop. My legs were cold from a breeze going up my pant legs, also my thighs from turbulence. The rest of me was fine. I replaced the light raincoat with a winter jacket and added a full face helmet with no shield. Even with the helmet, but without ear plugs, it was still too loud and my left ear feels stuffy.
  5. Ah ... I wouldn't mention women and leather on this forum. It makes the denizens restless. Great looking car.
  6. I drove home in mid 60s weather. It was wonderful. People honked & waved. Leaves swirled around. The exhaust made me partially deaf in one ear - I forgot earplugs again. This weekend I will be testing out the gearshift adjustment and cold weather driving cloths. I'll post a report.
  7. Hopefully I can try out some of these ideas on the trip home from the shop. This could be fun.

There is a great deal of stuff to see and do in PA. This site http://www.PAtrailsofhistory.com recommends some that may be of interest to history buffs. I would like to visit some of the sites and museums dealing with the history of technology. LOG may require a two week vacation this year. If this seems like a re-post it is. I had placed this in the wrong thread.
  9. Several good ideas were posted. I think I will try and sneak up on the solution by dragging out some of my old motorcycle stuff. It seems that the most important thing is to plan ahead. Throwing on a couple of layers and heading out was an interesting experiment but didn't produce the results I had hoped for. Thanks
  10. I took my first cold, high 40s, weather drive today. Rather than load up the trailer I decided to bundle up and drive to the local shop that does some of the work on our car. A bit too cold. Top to bottom I was dressed in: mad bomber hat; t-shirt, fuzzy, raincoat; jeans; wool socks and boat shoes. I was cold overall especially throat, ears and right hand. Our car has no top, doors or tannaeu cover. I think the next time I will drive with at least one more layer, a scarf and gloves. Maybe I will try my full face helmet. Does anyone have any particular suggestions for staying warm?
  11. One of the nice things about unpainted aluminum is that if you are feeling ambitious you can shine it up for a fantastic look. To me the best part of the Donkervoort is the ally nose.
  12. Harbor Freight it is. The shear question does give me pause. Through bolting may be the wisest approach.
  13. I tried an experiment substituting inexpensive movers dollies for expensive car jacks. It seem to work OK with a light car. I am putting less than 300 lbs on each one. At $9 each they are much cheaper but a little more trouble (you have to jack up the car then set it down on the dolly) than the $75 gojack. Remember, be careful, just because I am getting away with it doesn't mean that you will too.

    Car Update

When do you think you can take the first drive? Christmas?
  15. I would love to see that demonstrated. Actually the cars that are accepted as 7ish are so diverse I would think that it would be easy to get a 4 wheeler and make it look like a 7.
  16. A bit too weird but I've wanted to try road luge for quite some time.
  17. Thanks for posting. A local guy (out of Virgina Beach) has an old GMC stake bed to haul his autoX Morgan. It makes a very impressive appearance. Unfortunately I have no pictures.
  18. No but close. The rider had a couple of big strides. As I remember the camera angle the bike was traveling from right to left. Still, pretty amazing stuff.
  19. Cool. Years ago, when 2-strokes were king, a 500cc bike had a high speed wobbled and tossed the rider off the seat. He hung onto the handle bars and took several superman like strides before he was able to jump back on the bike. He did an immediate tuck and gunned it. I loved watching the 500cc GP races.
  20. Thems good eaten.
  21. Wow, it looks like another great LEO event is in the books.
  22. Nice. Certainly better than I expected. Bike engined 7s sound awesome.
  23. Hope to see you at LOG 30
  24. Sorry, I couldn't photograph everyone. The recycle time of our digital camera made that impossible.
