Interesting but horrid looking IMHO. Some LOGs ago Panos put on a factory tour for us. It was very much a garage type operation. A huge wonderfully well stocked garage. Shortly after they announced a new car model.

I've seen a Morgan trike "raced" at Lime Rock. The driver was having a good time but stayed in the very center of the track. They certainly look like fun in much the way an old style Se7en is fun - that is not that fast but totally involving to drive. My wife & I sometimes hang out with the Moto Guzzi owners. They are very appealing bikes. Very Lotus like in some of their philosophies (parts availability, dealer service...)

Except for nostalgia I don't understand 3 wheelers. They seems to combine the worst of a motorcycle and a car. In a side car configuration the have very odd handling. In a tricycle configuration they are vile handling and dangerous. In a reverse tricycle? When a motorcycle tows a trailer you have a bad handling car. When trike tows a trailer it is even worse, you end up with a bad handling tractor trailer. I saw such an abomination on the tail of the dragon. Shades of "If you give a pig a cookie".

I've found some cool and not so cool stuff online http://turnalarm.com/index.htm http://macsautoparts.com/model-t-turn-signal-flasher-12-volt-3-prong-type-beeps-when-not-shut-off-a13350-12beep/camid/MDT/cp/JS0R3CHL1140358/ http://www.saber-cycle.com/store/product377.html http://www.jcwhitney.com/extra-loud-electronic-turn-signal-beeper/p2002171.jcwx I guess I will visit radio shack tonight but the plug in flasher beepers seem totally cool

I am tired of riding down the road with my turn signal flashing. I want to install something that makes a noise (beep beep beep) when the turn signal is on. Preferably something small and light that allows the volume to be adjusted. I currently use a trailer controller to allow a two filament bulb to handle running light, brake light & turn signal duty. Please note that I am one of those insane keep it original folks so I want something that I can wire in and stays hidden. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I have decided to go with either 1/2 or 3/4 galvanized pipe (it all depends on cost). According to what I have read you need a minimum of 25' of run to let the air cool and water vapor to condense. At that point I will plumb in a water separator and regulator followed by feeds to my drop points.

The generic engine stands I have seen bolt to the engine block at an engine mount. The engine can then be spun around that point so you can work downhand on either the top or bottom.

I would like a photocopy or e-copy but having it as a item of memorabilia isn't my thing. I store more than enough stuff already.

It is always good to remember that just because someone offers to let you fly with them or take a ride on the track you don't have to say yes.

Your overall favorite engine for a Lotus 7 variant.

RossD; What can you tell us about the picture? When was it taken? Details man details! -

I was reading about a Saab 2-stroke powered 7 hill climb car from back in the day. Now that different. -
Very nice. The multiple colors on the front suspension give it a bit more pop.

I will be doing that with the seat bottoms. I am going to a local shop that I have used before (Newport News VA). It is simple work. Any competent shop should be able to do a good job.

That is one of the reason I like the Lotus twin-cam. Plenty of parts and support. If someone wanted to go high-tech there is a fuel injection option that is a direct bolt on for the Stromberg head. That and replacing the distributer with crank angle based direct ignition would free up a bunch of power. Still I gather that 170 hp is about the limit unless you go to heroic levels to keep the engine together. -

The first name and NY seem correct to me and the Lotus Ltd directory has a guy with that name, an Elan and a NY address. -

There was a guy who had a very neat installation of a Toyota engine in his Elan. He showed up with the car a few of the New England LOGs. -
Lexan Gullwing Half-Doors - anybody interested?

Great pictures. Interesting idea. They give the car a classic (retro?) look. -

I've seen both BMW and Nissan powered Se7ens. I have a BMC-A powered car. Kyle has a Lotus engined Se7en (I forget if it is the 907 or 910 engine). I've heard of some Lexis V8 engined Se7ens but I don't know if they were actually built. The company may have gone bust prior to completing any. -
Should we attend LOG 31 or aim for a National USA7s Meet in 2011?
DeanG replied to Croc's topic in National Events
In the latest issue of reMARQUE (The Lotus Ltd magazine Sept-Oct 2010, I receive it much later than most. The letter carriers must pass it around for a week or two) has an article "Start Your Seven" by Dave Kirk that talks about the joys of push starting a Birkin in the winter in Montana. It even includes two pictures displaying the Birkin badge and is complimented by and ad from Texas Motor Works purveyor of Birkins. -
Congratulations. I had the 1+ year engine rebuild experience. I will never again go to a "race engine" builder with a non-race engine.

I had offered to buy a drink for any driver of a Lotus built 7 (I figured that any moder 7 was guaranteed to run faster and didn't want to break the bank) that turned in a faster time than I did. Most did run faster but nobody bothered to collect their reward. Oh well. I was very impressed with the times I turned. I expected to be much slower (relatively) than I was. I can't give the credit to my driving, my tires (135x15) or the 1,000 cc BMC-A engine. It has to be due to the merits of the basic design. If I lost 50 lbs the times would have been better. -
We attended Eurofest (Spartansburg SC) again. Only our M100 an Esprit and a very nice Seven series 4. The Seven is for sale at Lotus of Greenville - No affiliation.

I'm a quarter of the weight of my 7. Pretty soon my Dr will need a hoist to examine me and my mechanic wont.

We're talking about Se7ens. Just pick the thing up and put it on sawhorses.
