  1. Congratulations on your new car! The snow is gone - drive it like you stole it!
  2. John - you may want to check the roll bar requirements. SCCA usually want a seven encased in armor and padded inside with cotton wool before you can enter it in any event....ok slight exaggeration...but the usual is full cage for hillclimbs and track is it not? Regular bar ok for autocross.
  3. The extra height is useful for frost heaves and I-95 on the Boston to DC corridor.
  4. $22500 - good price and a testament to the quality of this car. Congratulations to the seller and the new owner! I was very entertained watching the bidders and matching back to members on this forum. I think BAT auctions is a very interesting format for selling a classic these days. The past results for sevens has not been great but I guess it depends on the car on offer.
  5. This was an interesting and fun little article on the Indian Lotus 7, the Chinkara http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2016/03/foreign-affairs-chinkara-roadster-s-india/
  6. Thats good, no chance of a head gasket issue like the K series engines. :spam:
  7. Thanks Oldfart for clearing up this mystery and adding a new one. So if that is the case then the stacks are an expensive decoration these days! Or another way of saying it - he would have had an empty space to try and cover up if he removed the stacks and he did not want to do that. Looking at the photos again, I see he could not clear an sc intake where the existing stacks were. Despite the questions, it has been interesting to see how far a S1 could have been taken by Superformance had they been motivated and committed to their product.
  8. Whizzy's Westfield Ebay ad is here - bidding at $11500 with 5 days left. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Westfield-Super-7-Sports-Car-/252317334445?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3abf48fbad:g:GsgAAOSwoBtW1hsE&item=252317334445 and on Craigslist here http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/5442826245.html In BC Canada there is an immaculate looking 1990 Westfield with clams in cream with a flamboyantly plum interior. Ex-Japan car so RHD. Engine code shows it as the Ford CVH 1.6L. They used to put these in Escorts in the 80s in the UK and Europe. Pretty rough noisy old engine from distant driving memory but they did respond well to tuning but that never got rid of the harsh vibrations and untuneful noise. The CVH turbo option is just what this car needs. The cross flow was a better designed engine despite being over a decade older in design. Buy it now at US$22500. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-WESTFIELD-SE-SEVEN-/121920177082?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c630243ba:g:OogAAOSwZQxW4dkh&item=121920177082 The Robin Hood is back at $15999 opening bid with 14 hours to run and no bids http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-sport-/222045566983?forcerrptr=true&hash=item33b2f27807:g:OdcAAOSwuAVWyD1p&item=222045566983 Streetside Classic Dealer Lotus 7 S4 still around at a $32995 price http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-S4-/272137610661?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3f5caa65a5:g:DiMAAOSwDuJWzznz&item=272137610661 2010 Wharton Roadster. 9. Tunnel carpet is good for heat control, stopping your leg burning and gives a good finished look. I don't think you want shag. Kills all those poor little polyesters that we want to save. Go for a nice stainmaster berber. The pile stays deep and its easy to get grass stains out when you have a moment and your Dyson will keep it fresh and clean easily.
  10. The A60 compound is the one Avon describes in their tech specs as EU "road legal." The softer two compounds are the ones intended for Formula Ford racing. Given we have heavier cars than a formula ford, you may find it wears out quicker than you expect but the ACB10 is pretty consistent for grip across its entire life. Give it a try and let us know how good it is!
  11. Looks like everyone likes the look of your ring Shane!
  12. How does the intake work? You have 4 naked trumpets plus a cone filter and an apparently unnecessary hood scoop?

  15. Try Mike Brotherwood in the UK. He has a range a refurbished and remanufactured early 7 parts. Even if he does not sell the grille he probably could tell you where to get one. http://www.mikebrotherwood.com/Parts.html
  16. No, I think they had a gratuitous sacrifice of rubber to appease me. :jester:
  17. Has TWS fixed the track where you thwacked your Stalker which then led on to the subsequent part break and grassy excursion?
  18. Tom is right. I found large parts of the track quite empty out there even with 19 cars on track. The traffic flows much better with our group plus we are all drivers of a good consistent experience level. That said, the "soft" limit Tom and I had in mind was always 25 cars simply because we could not envisage ever getting any more. The fact we are contemplating this potential is really quite exciting. On Lightning, SCDA was running 35-38 cars when we ran with them. I have seen PCA run with 55+ cars on Lightning - what a shambles - no thanks. And I have seen 200+ Lemons cars on Lightning - complete anarchy! It may sound selfish but I would like to keep the numbers lower to preserve the quality of the track time for everyone.
  19. A genuine Birkin for sale on Ebay - not the handbag type either. 2014 Build. IRS. T9. Guess it is a Duratec - ad says nothing. Has a cage but never been on track. Bit confused as to the color - nose cone, scuttle and bonnet seem to be gray/charcoal and the rest is BRG? Hard to tell with the photos. Bit of a leak from the transmission although I would like to know exactly where? Love the license plate! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Birkin-S3-/252296929842?#description $28000 buy it now. Bidding at $13k with 2 days to run. 20. Speaking of bourbon, I made my way in January to Beacon NY to taste test Karl's (Blubarisax on here) small batch production of spirits. http://www.denningspointdistillery.com Very tasty stuff! Definitely drop in if you are in the area. Karl is a top guy.
  21. Absolutely nothing to upgrade - I am happy with what I have. My two pet sevens got their annual winter pampering and they are happily tucked up warm in the garage awaiting spring. My cash has been getting spent on the Beemer restoration. I just splurged on a nice new set of 1970s look gold BBS cross hatch 12/14 inch alloy race wheels. The Holden is getting a new T-5 since the T-10 broke on me late last year. Also needs a new steering rack by the looks of it since it is leaving a lot of red power steering fluid all over the garage floor... :banghead: Ummm....why do we have a second broken storker on this forum?
  22. Yet another day on the red neck Riviera.... :nopity: On the plus side Skip, I can confidently say that will not fit your dashboard! :smash:
  23. Mike - is that fly wheel or rear wheel?
  24. Well you confirmed that there are 2 cars and that they look very similar despite being different and they are seemingly in very different price brackets. I consider that a step forward. If nothing else we all know what questions to ask next!
