  1. You can leave it in my garage Saturday night. Sunday you can stay in the large event garage at the pits.
  2. @Bruce K Congratulations on your purchase! It really is a beautiful looking Caterham. The color choice is particularly good - never seen one like it before.
  3. Registration is just to drive. But if the car cannot drive then dont register but come and we try to diagnose the problem with Ian/TJ and then register next day for driving. You can be on the property without registration - just tell them you are here for drivers club or drop a car at my garage or etc....
  4. Oxted Group does the stuff for Caterham so could likely match it. Jo is a lovely lady as she handled my order on the green thing. Jo Mitchell Customer Service and Sales Manager jo@oxtedgroup.co.uk +44-1883 712112
  5. @VovchandrIf you want it, I have teed up TJ and Ian to work on your car to diagnose fixing it. They owe me a favor. They are available Sunday for this, possibly as early as Saturday depending on arrival time. Does not help you drive the track on Sunday but may get you out there Monday. If you did that then register on the morning of the day in person.

  7. Thats a bit of gold having that diagram for Caterham owners wanting to upgrade to wideband. Nice one!!!
  8. @JohnCh and I have been texting back and forth trying to think this one through but I lost and have to type the response as he is off feeding his beloved white Persian house cats, specially cooked non-GMO chicken. Big softy he is! Trying to put some order in this to allow you to test systematically....the cold cylinder #4 with a glowing cat and sparks would lead me to suspect that you have no combustion in the #4 cylinder. Instead the unburned fuel is being sent to the cat where it is hot enough to get combusted there. Sparks would be indicative of the cat being burned up - not a good thing for the record since they are really expensive to replace. Reinforcing this is your video. Its stable revs (until the end), classic sound of a no combustion in one or more cylinders, plus a misfire. Not sure what the noise was at the end? John theorized microphone being moved? Temp readings you took seem to imply that 3 cylinders are firing and 1 is dead. My usual starting approach is think air, spark, fuel Air - seems to be present Spark - questionable - refer below fuel - possibly yes since your cat converter is glowing happily. However, this is likely a timing issue so you may have all 3 pieces but they come into play at the wrong time/sequence. This makes it tricky to solve by forum post. Things to start with: Swap your plug leads around and see if you can get #4 working. You could be looking at something simple like dead spark plug or loose wire to plug. It could be a coil pack issue if you have wasted spark. John thinks you are set up that way. John was not convinced you have correct cam timing. Possibly right as we dont know if you retained the same slot angle on the back of the cams as you were running pre-tear down? However, my logic would then suggest all 4 cylinders would be off if that were the case? But you only seem to be off only 1 (or 2?) cylinders? Not sure - something seems important to this observation but need time to put pieces together. You could have a failed injector that is over pumping fuel into #4 and that is coming out exhaust side. @JohnCh When you have finished pampering your pets - have I missed anything?
  9. Hi Rosteri Thank you for clarifying. The 2L displacement was what confused me and now I get why you were using the HPC as the reference. Thanks again mike
  10. @Rosteri I am still coming back here to study your posts and absorb. One question I am interested in - the Millington engine block. Is this the block that Millington did to copy the Vauxhall 2L (re-rengineered so stronger) or is this their custom block that they build bespoke competition engines with, which is what I thought was called the "XE"? The reason I asked is I thought you needed a Millington head to go with the block but you mixed and matched with a non-Millington head so I got confused. Thank you for clarifying mike
  11. @SK400 Did you check the dates of this event? Maybe you can make this coming weekend?
  12. That explains it - original tube had a half moon as well. Thank you.

  15. Now awake again. I would not worry about the cap. Get your car sorted then sign up or cancel out 3 days before if you are not going to make it. I don't think we will pop out the top of the cap.
  16. What a great first post! Welcome to USA7s! On the chassis tube where you had to half moon a segment to create clearance, is this occurring because the chassis tube on the other side is a different shape/location/position? They look similar in the photos but only one side needed a segment removed for clearance?

    Clutch issues

Sorry to hear of the misfortune Carl. Given my Caterham is engine out as of today, I know the feeling. I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic for 2 weeks to get near my T-9 documentation but... @S1Steve had a write up on zetec/T9 clutches that I have in my files but never digitized. I recall it having parts numbers and suppliers. Calling Steve to this thread. Hail Mary option - I have not bought a zetec T9 clutch in the last 12 years but I think TJ at TK Autosports did. Give him a call at (609) 744-8232 and explain I referred you. You may get Ian instead of TJ but thats ok - Ian can also potentially answer this question. Apologize profusely for knowing me. Say you are coming to the sevens event in 2 weeks time and that you trying to track down a clutch replacement for a T9 box and do they please have the part number and clutch supplier for Jeff's blue Caterham when they replaced it. I think it was replaced when it had its engine rebuild 2 years back. I think it is an identical set up to your car.
  20. Sounds like she is running on 3 cylinders - no spark or combustion in the dead cylinder. I don't hear valve issues. Your quick reactions probably stopped that. There are two things going on: 1) The auto-rev issue 2) lack of spark/combustion in number 4 I would follow John's line of thinking from above: 1) Look at wires to/from the ECU to the ignition system and see if there is any fraying/arcing/grounding that should not be happening. 2) Check the camshaft position sensor and throttle position sensor 3) Check the coil My initial reaction is to suspect whatever went wrong on issue 1 ended up frying the coil on number 4. Coil failures are reasonably common on Duratec so it would not surprise me if you have had one go bad.

  22. I'm ready! Errrrrr.....not! Engine and gearbox came out yesterday. New gearbox to go in. And a well earned call out to @BruceBe for deciding to corner the market in Caterham 6 speed gearboxes just at the point when I needed one. Thank you Bruce!
  23. The only Caterham I know cannot convert is the 620R - it has to be RHD as the steering column interferes with the supercharger in LHD Format. So it should be possible. I don't know anyone who has done it but thinking through the list of jobs: Does the chassis have the welded in steering column mounts on the right hand side? Are there any chassis diagonals that are on a LHD car that are not on the RHD or are mirror reversed? No idea. Will probably need a new lower steering column - not sure if you can retain the upper and just swap over? May have to move battery and few other things. New dash needed Gauges should be ok just swapped over May need to redo headlights for UK side of the road. They seem big on that. Registration process (SVA) might get fiddly on lenses for indicators, stopping, fog, etc. Wipers are from a mini - even if it was an LHD mini they are cheap and easy to change to RHD mini. Seems a manageable list except for the first 2 points.

    Northeast storm

No issues for me. Hudson river did not even rise above normal tide level. It did look like a waterfall down my windows at the peak of the storm but not one leak. Tornadoes were 10+ miles west of me. Lots of clean up when I was in Manhattan yesterday - subway was all messed up. No NJ Transit or MetroNorth. Lots of disabled cars being towed away.
