That looks to be an road converted VX race car. The owner probably installed s-type seats that raised the seating position. Definitely not good a good combination for track safety, especially for the passenger.

Always load the victim (passenger) first. Stuff left leg down the well. Bend in half at the waist. Stuff bum as far as you can into the gap between the seats atop the tunnel. Passenger may have to twist outward and lift right arm to make room for your bum. (be nice!) Left hand on tunnel, right on sill. Lift right leg off ground and into car. Relax, you're in! .......... Recall leaving keys in trouser pocket. Repeat proceedure as necessary. (swap left for right if you have unconventional steering.)

Wow, I can't believe I missed this thread. Count me in for at least part of this tour. It'd be a shame to miss a blat in my own backyard. I hope my car will be back together by then. I just started a bit of upgrading. New ratios in the SC box, dry sump, clutch, removable scuttle, ash tray, ten speed fuel injected windscreen wipers, etc. It'd be embarrassing to not be back together by July, especially if Tom's car was complete and road worthy. Hey Tom, Have we ever been to Leadville? Skip, good luck on that shoulder surgy. Remember, positive attitude helps the healing process. :thumbs:

I've built many 9" Ford diffs. over the years. The Ital is a very similar drop out carrier axle assembly. If you don't find external problems like suspension bushes, U-joints, ect., I would suspect that the bearing adjustment nut on the port side of the carrier has backed off for some reason or one of the carrier bearings has shot craps. Someone may have forgotten to bolt up the adjustment keepers or used an improper preload when they rebuilt it last. Hopefully you'll find an external problem that others have pointed to. If not I'm afraid the carrier will have to be pulled out of the front of the axle and rebuilt. Good luck.

Thanks Drew, I could live with a 5 or even a 10 minute warmup, and we don't have nearly the heat load of MN. I have a feeling that HVAC contractors err on the plus side for peace of mind...and a possibly piece of ones wallet. I'm thinking 45000 BTU would probably be adequate 'round these parts.:thumbs:

Jack, Thanks for the tips. The Modine is vented to the outside, but combustion air is from the heated space. I had one of those Daton/Farenheat 5KW heaters in my last garage. Since the garage was uninsulated, it took 30-40 hours to bring it up to 50f so I could get a little work done. The numbers on the leccy meter were a blur as they speed by. :ack: Added $150 to the monthly bill. Industrial heating, eh. I just spent a couple of days last week replacing the elements in my Lindberg HT furnace. Wrong controller parameters allowed a runaway. The TC loop-open thingy had been disabled somehow. :cry:

Anyone here an HVAC tech? I'm adding a Modine unit heater to my 3 car garage. It's 860 sq. ft. with 9 foot ceilings, insulated. Average low temp in our area is 14F. We get maybe a dozen below zeros in a bad year. One local HVAC guy says 45000 BTU should be fine to get the room to a nice working temp in cold weather, however a 60000 BTU unit would recover faster when the missus opens the door to drive the Oldsmobuick to the grocery. I understand that bigger is not always better as the furnace will cycle more often and wear out faster. Any thoughts?

FWIU...the CSR and most limited volume chassis(LHD for example) are still made by Arch. The Classic, Roadsport, Superlight, and SV are usually a Steel Fab chassis unless otherwise specified. There's been talk on BC of a 500 squid premium to get an Arch chassis. Mav Richards has some "Arch Inside" stickers available if you'd like to advertise the pedigree of your car.

True. Caged is now trading under the name Steel fabrications Ltd. It seems it's a subsidiary of Caterham Cars. Here's the scuttlebutt from BC, circa 2006.

James, I was running the same 90mm trumpets when I first converted to TBs. The inlet of the trumpets was uncomfortably close to the top of the ITG filter. I bought a drop centre back plate from Jenvey to gain some added clearance. It makes the bonnet hole a bit more uniform as well. Let us know how you get on with the K3 upgrade. I plan to do the same this winter. I'm curious to know how much it costs and how long it takes for Carl to turn it around. My short list for this winter: alloy flywheel dry sump new vernier pulleys and timing belt replace my BGH gearbox with the original Quaife square cut 'box (I've replaced first and second gear ratios in the Quaife) mechanical OP gauge adjustable spring perches Been collecting parts for two years. Now I need to finish these projects.

Visually, I'd venture a guess that the gasket is sealing properly. Look under the valves for a crack in the intake tract. Also GM vehicles of that vintage are prone to develop a leaky upper to lower intake manifold gasket leak. They usually p155 coolant down the outside of the motor, but occasionally do leak into the inside of the manifold. My 99 Tahoe did this. Just throwing out some ideas here...

Mazda, The home page always loads fast, so it seems. It's the subsequent pages that have a considerable response time. I've only noticed the problem in the past two weeks or so. I'd venture a guess the hosting service needs file maintenance or a hardware upgrade.

I watched "The Prisoner" original airings when I was 10 years old. Best part of the show was the intro. Had to find out what that damn car was. 6 or 7 years later I got my first ride in a Seven. Sweet car too. One of only 13 Lotus SS Twincams ever made. Unfortunately, I waited until my midlife crisis era to indulge myself with a Seven. Crisis averted, What can I say... -
Still looking for a cheap side view mirror fix

DB6, I've had a mail server melt down, but I recall seeing a PM from you about the motorbike mirrors. Sorry I didn't get back to you. I picked up the "carbon effect" mirrors on Ebay for around 20 clams. This was back in 2004 so the vendors have changed. I found them in "motorcycle accessories". You'll find a couple of different styles available from different vendors. I imagine they're all manufactured in China. The style I bought are called "F1". The mirrors had a 6mm stud sticking out of the socket joint. I may have cut some of it off to neaten things up a bit. I'm a tad busy at work putting a product design to bed, so I don't have time to make you a pair of brackets. I can sketch up a drawing of the brackets so you could cut them out yourself. They're cut from a strip of 1/8 X 1-1/4" thick alloy strip from Home Base. It's just three drilled holes and a 45 degree bend. -
Blackbirds could just barely break 4 seconds 0-60, but I don't think the Fireblades could. Fireblades where only 130BHP, whereas the Blackbird was 170BHP. Most decent BEC sevens are under 950lbs.

It's a very rare Fireblade Caterham. It's got the proper chassis numbers for a Fireblade and looks unmolested as well. I'd like to own one, but finances have the better of me.
