  1. Thanks for teh input Skip. Your thoughts are inline with my thoughts with what i've read tonight. You're right to take a peek at the driveshaft as well. When i was under the car Saturday, It appeared that the diff was set in lace to rest on a long lower bolt as there was some scoring on the diff case between where the 2 short bottom bolts are supossed to be. No signs of teh lower half of teh cast holes. Its seems as if one goes, the torque will easily snaps its opposite one. I don't expect any welding. time for a new case. I was expecting the diff to be shot and a Quaife to need to be ordered, but Blatchat seems pretty happy w/ the ZF units if they are properly set and I haven't had any issue w/ mine.
  2. Now a new problem has surfaced. Snake Bit was immediately flatbedded to the shop fllowing yesterday's autoX. Right before lunch, w/ my co-driver at the lightly lauching the car, a loud banging started. The engine was shut down immediately and it was pushed back to paddock. No out of the ordinary noise w/ the engine running, out of gear. Going into gear, engine running, or as later found out, engine off, loud cyclic banging sound. Not a small thump. a good loud thumping meaning "oh no". With the 7 jacked up, there is some play vertically in teh rear diff when pushing on the pro shaft. the u joints appear fine. I did see a piece of what I assume is the lower diff mounting bolt. It appears to have sheared off. Its a 1/2" x 10" bolt just under the front of the diff. all that i found was a 2' section in one of teh mounting holes. Now reading some stuff on alcester-racing-sevens regarding pulling the prop shaft, it looks like i actually broke the lower mounts as they need 2 seperate bolts and the diff is molded for these bolts to pass thru. these bolt hole carriers appeared to have broken. And they have to be shimmed as well. so may be the diff has too much room to play? http://alcester-racing-sevens.com/PropChange_DifOut.JPG the lower half of "D" is missig on both sides. So at first i though u joints, but they were fine. then diff mount, but a replacement bolt, which was incorrect, did not stop teh sound. Then i though the LSD had siezed. now i'm thinking broken diff case mounts are allowing play in teh driveline. any other possibilties?
  3. i'll probably be bying a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 13x9 wheels in the offseason.
  4. Oyagi - bang up job. though I would add some space around the stripe and badge on the nose. Twobone - either nothing, a nose band, or the full meatball treatment.
  5. Awesome to drive a se7en away from the SF/Joakland area...
  6. The Little Chickadee. and it's Al Navarro.:troll:
  7. martin- When u use the airport, is PCA-SB using teh taxiway as well? how close to the hangers on the eastside?
  8. also consider what alcoholic beverages were before 20th century dietary advances. Even 19th century canning. It was a food staple. High carbohydrate value, would not spoil, and for the most part easily transportable. Refridgeration did not exist. U were lucky if there was an ice house nearby.
  9. very interested. how do they attach to a pen? is it a specific pen or can it be moved to a new pen once the old one is out of ink?
  10. more like a se7en mated w/ a Crossfire. The diesel idea was something I was thinking about a few weeks ago.
  11. running the 15" sizes. one of my rear 225s picked up a 16 penny nail thru tread and out the side wall last month at an event, so i'll be on 205s all around. They have been fine all season since i've had them and done admirably in the rain. as our cars no weight, extra caution is needed in the rain.
  12. Bruce, your not used to teh 7 on the island. U should move me instead. I'll take only 1/2 the garage!
  13. the 50th was the black silver and gold accents/bonnet stripe).
  14. reduced visibilty, range of motion, and hearing. in a tin top its much more ponounced than in an open vehicle like a se7en.
  15. i sensing the Rockies next summer.
  16. I think the military service actually makes so laws more lenient. U need to see if your base has an ombudsman or other rep who can answer the questions accurately, other servicemen have had teh same questions and desire before. Bring me back a STi 22b or new Festiva RS.
  17. sad news...
  18. the NSX has horrible gearing for autoX. U may like ur new 2nd gear.
  19. It was teh fuse.
  20. hands free phone device. the older laws are rendered mute by current technology and more recent laws in most states. That being said, my hearing is tested is tested annually by law. My hearing has not diminished. Granted I am younger than the typical se7en driver, and my 7 is quieter than most (for now). I do agree that u should make hearing protection available to your self. If i am not using my headphones on my phone, i have a set of etymotic like reusable ear plugs that i bought from a blatchat group buy several years ago. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.aspx they have other units which have speakers and microphones as well.
  21. Did we ever upload the hemmings article from 7-7-07? Consider DTA and I were driving 20 hours, I think he did have some printed input on the conversation level. I can't really comment on how the noise inside a Stalker will be. In a 7 w/ teh sidescreens it was fine though u would have to raise ur voice.
  22. and to think i was joking about all the rain Friday that it washed away all the smoke from the electrical system...
  23. So, on the trip back from upstate, and sitting at the bridge crossing for 45 minutes, my turn signals stop working. So I do the correct Caterham procedure and check the hazard switch position. flip it a few times, then go back to the turn signal switch. Still nothing.:cuss: Checked the fuses yesterday. All looked good. one looked a little corroded, but that would cause it to actually blow sooner, right? So i'm thhink its a relay? does this logic make sense and has anyone seen this problem before?
  24. Sounds like u'll be away when NNJR-SCCA runs the roadcourse on the 24th. I have an event by me that day. I thinking September/october for dates.
