Now a new problem has surfaced. Snake Bit was immediately flatbedded to the shop fllowing yesterday's autoX.
Right before lunch, w/ my co-driver at the lightly lauching the car, a loud banging started. The engine was shut down immediately and it was pushed back to paddock.
No out of the ordinary noise w/ the engine running, out of gear.
Going into gear, engine running, or as later found out, engine off, loud cyclic banging sound. Not a small thump. a good loud thumping meaning "oh no".
With the 7 jacked up, there is some play vertically in teh rear diff when pushing on the pro shaft. the u joints appear fine. I did see a piece of what I assume is the lower diff mounting bolt. It appears to have sheared off. Its a 1/2" x 10" bolt just under the front of the diff. all that i found was a 2' section in one of teh mounting holes.
Now reading some stuff on alcester-racing-sevens regarding pulling the prop shaft, it looks like i actually broke the lower mounts as they need 2 seperate bolts and the diff is molded for these bolts to pass thru. these bolt hole carriers appeared to have broken. And they have to be shimmed as well. so may be the diff has too much room to play?

the lower half of "D" is missig on both sides.
So at first i though u joints, but they were fine.
then diff mount, but a replacement bolt, which was incorrect, did not stop teh sound.
Then i though the LSD had siezed.
now i'm thinking broken diff case mounts are allowing play in teh driveline.
any other possibilties?
