  1. The club president is not the only club officer, there are others. Though Al's post is quite thorough in its enumeration duties, many of those are can be delegated and many of us do handle those items as they are addressed to the community. That list should not discourage anyone from wanting to help out furthering se7ening in america.
  2. go as pilgrim and indian.
  3. Can't wait for the St. Paddy's day update.
  4. varmint is as varmint does. good job.
  5. I'm confused at how a BMW or P car would be a good daily driver considering the cost of ownership. If its a daily driver, its the assumption that ur preserving the good car.
  6. new version of paper rock scissors?
  7. I press button and receive bacon. oh wait, wrong forum.
  8. ur actually better off w/ teh added sidewall height on the 13" tyres as opposed to teh 15" tyres. U may lose a little ground clearance if the wet sump is still hanging underneath teh frame like it does on many of the Zetec motors. If u have opted for teh dry sump, awesome move!
  9. same car that the sevens mailing listserv spoke of last night/this morning.

    Miata?

6 speed and 5 speed are the same final rpms for highway cruising. 6 spd just will keep u in power band better. Almost no rev matching needed, but i usualy am skip shifting. again 01+ is the 1.8 w/ fancy heads 'n' cams. the 01/02 SEs had the polished look 16" twist wheels. If u opt for the SE u get the sport brakes which most 15" wheels can't fit over. an 02+ LS that has been well maintained may be a better bet for commuting.

    Miata?

since it doesn't have sport brakes u want these http://www.sccaforums.com/forums/forumid/65/threadid/394280/scope/posts
  14. Where was the autoX?
  15. i suspect this story goes best w/ a round or 2!
  16. radicals are sort of a decent bang for the buck if u don't go too crazy. I have a feeling this Caterham is going to be costing close to a FIA formula team. Any word on prices edit: ~$100k, which is much less than I expected and in the realm of a FAtlantic or FContinetal. It's sort of a shame that they only plan 25 per year. I was expecting a new drivers series a la the Acedemy, but I don't think they can meet the goal of 2012 race series with such a low output.
  17. Bryce has a Super Stalker. If Kitcat can cross 2 1/2 states, I can keep my region's autoX schedule open that weekend so I can attend.

    Miata?

Can't really go wrong w/ the miata as a commuter car. As for a gas sipper, that depends on being easy w/ the right foot. I have the later 1.8L. Plenty of pep, just the gas milage can plummet if I spend alot of time flogging it above 5000rpm. I would recomend finding a 95+ to get the 1.8 and higher likely hood for the LSD. the 99-05 (NB) is the 2nd gen. from 01 on is the more powerful 1.8. if u find the NB w/o sport brakes, usually special editions, 15" wheels are easier fits. The plastic rear windows are on the NA body's first few years. Hard tops are interchangeable for fit, but those that have a rear defroster have different plugs depending on the year. Buy a miata that has the hard top is much simpler.
  19. one will be... Tom - what are the roll bar regs for this organization?
  20. A few of us in the NYC area. U really won't be using a se7en in the city. At all. i have some pics at rideheight in our past club president's then 7 (yes, say that fast) in the city. U will most probably be only using in rides outside the city. a cab or hourly/daily rental like Zipcar or such.
  21. I can't give a commitment on those dates for another month or 2. I appreciate everyone's eagerness to setup this years events, but I think cabin fever is setting in. even where the weather is warm:)
  22. My father had 2nd place he was co-owner of for almost 20 years. It was rented for parts of the seasons as a vacation. it was never able to hold its own head above water unless they committed not to go there on their own vacation and keep it rented as much as possible. To be economically viable, it wouldn't really have been 'his'.
