  2. Headlights - H4 Rear turn signal - 1156 Rear Combination - 1157 Front side repeater - Front Turn Signal - Reverse/ Rear Fog - Don't remember if this info was ever tabulated, and it did not come up on a search.
  3. Hey, quiet from the peanut gallery!:leaving:
  4. agree Arya that the pictured angle is too much rake. if u do fashion some full doors, the higher the mirrors are will decrease teh range that the doors can swing open. minor concern and will no bother someone who enjoys their car. also consider that lowering the overal height on the windshield may obscure rearward vision by a center mirror. Also double check that the glass nowhere near its critical angle. and hopefully it will not be refracting the sun to wierd angles for dawn/dusk driving.
  5. with that floor jack are u going to make a se7en for Paul Bunyon?
  6. ratchet method isn't a success yet. i'm able to drag the car when ratcheting. Where is the upper column bushing, in the bottom of the fixed sleeve or at the top? should i unbolt the column sleeve? I don't see that a being neccessary if the bushing is to slid out thru the column. "Since you still have the steering column lock, you are removing the upper bushing along with the steering shaft. I did it by sitting in the driver seat with the steering wheel still attached and just using the steering column locking lug as a slide hammer against the bushing." Perhaps this is confusing me. should I leave the igntion switch on and let the steering lock catch the bushing? or engage disengage teh lock to rattle the column to help free itself?
  7. The best part of getting a car running is the hurry to get it not running with some other problem:banghead::smilielol5: For a car fitted w/ 'permanent' hub Momo steering wheel. 1. take off bonnet, any weather gear & nose cone. 2. loosen and free lower steering column from u-joint above steering rack 3. At the Upper and Lower steering column overlap, loosen set screw(hex head), remove surrounding nut and 2 opposite bolts. 4. Loosen and free (2 bolts) the ignition switch(driver's footwell, I should hope) on the steering column sleeve. 5. take off steering wheel. 6. pull upper steering column out through interior side. Pull Hard! note: DON'T hit self and break jaw with steering column. Speculation 7. Insert new Quick Release column w/ hub &/or steering wheel attached through steering column sleeve. 8. attach 2 bolts (10 ft-lbs)to connect flanges to lock upper and lower steering columns together. Attach and tighten nut an dset screw on flat side of lower column. 9. Retighten lower steering column to u-joint. 15 ft-lbs. Ok, I'm stuck between 5 and 6. On a blatchat search, they say get a ratcheting tie rope and use that to pull the upper column out if difficult. any other suggestions or experiences.
  8. most likely in. Steve, we may need a photographer.
  9. Chip, as soon as everything is sorted w/ Al i'll need some spare and back up parts.
  10. seconded! was absolutely afraid that it was another i'm gonna sell my car thread. i was going to duct tape martin and Alaska Tom together if that happened. Congrats on coming to teh realization of when a project gets to large for one's own abilities. I hope your next airfare takes u to your self powered 7!:driving:
  11. ugh. crap on stick. ALMS Leguna Seca is early october.
  12. from the other sub-forum "Well I think I am going to sell my 7 Replica as I have just driven a New Porsche Cayman and I really like it a whole lot. I know what am I thinking but it is the only way that my wife will let me acquire one and besides I would need to make room in the garage for a new Porsche 986c and I do not have the room for a lift in my garage. Now my problem is should buy a new Cayman now or should I wait to buy it after finding a new owner for my 7 that I like a whole lot. My wife has always been ok with the 7 but from what I know and see she seems very apprehensive when in the 7 mainly due to its size I feel and that it does not have a top. So if anyone is interested I will consider parting ways with my hand built replica 7 that is licensed and titled in the State of California as a 1963 Lotus Seven without any restrictions. If you want to see some of the photos I have of the build and the car follow this link http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/ALotus7Replica# If you’re interested or know of someone that might be interested let me know as the more I think about it the more I am leaning to sell my 7 so make me an offer. Contact me at MHKflyer52 at g mail dot com or by PM on this site or by posting on this site." Martin- i'm posteriquoting here so Martin's FS thread doen't get mucked up. NO. Is there anything else in the fleet that can go bye-bye in lieu of the se7en? can u find room for a lift? will SWMBO be able to drive the Cayman? will you be leaving the drop top set, is ingress/egress become a problem? I'll admit I like the cayman S alot. Even more if the engine was not so detuned. But i never will confused the smiles per mile factor of the 7 vs any Porsche outside of an overbuilt 914-6 racecar. think a 3.0 or carrera S engine in the back.
  13. i've slept in my 7, but not being married i don't have to look for couch alternatives!
  14. see if u get permission, then we'll see where it goes. besides west virginny.
  15. Sean - let us know when everything is sttled w/ the state and may be we can get a blat organized for a weekend morning.
  16. for 15" road tyres: $60 rebate on various Dunlop tyres including the Direzza z1 Star Spec 195 50 15 size Kumho Ecsta v710 , the smaller sizes seem to be cheaper. new v710s are rumored to be coming out in the fall?
  17. they are the 16" wagon wheels so it is a typo. with Mike's info, there seems to be quite a bit of typos...:leaving:
  18. a box of yellow rollbar padding (non SFI) arrived yesterday. i made sure to order extra, u want some when your 7 is in motion again?
  19. the freestyle in-board suspension is even wider than than teh caterham wide track suspension. there's info on blatchat about that.
  20. looks like an awesome time so far!
  21. battery was connected in reverse. DOH:banghead: its awesome having a reverse light thats more than cosmetic now. :seeya: and i'm pretty sure the darty steering isn't a bad steering rack, i have to tighten a set screw in between the 2 steeing columns. can't wait till i get the Quick release on!:driving:
  22. i would use the 13s for autoX and check to see what u can get in 15 X 8 for the track. i'm not sure what width Formula Atlantic is, but they use 15" wheels iirc.
  23. dropped off friday, picked up today. have to get some red electrical tape to make sure this 'problem' doesn't happen again. at least some other issues got sorted as well(speed sensor[known], reverse switch[known], leaking fuel flex line[new one to me]). just got to sort some other issues like darty steering and maybe some loosing wires to the coolant temp gauge.
  24. Mike and Robert, simply put, u got me beat. I think my year of crap luck has passed. at least i know where it landed.
  25. wow, i guess someone's trying to throw the gauntlet down at Mopho...:lurk:
