  1. The real decision is what size frame tom buy, the S3(narrow) or the S5(SV/CSR widebody). After that it's ust specifics. Find the far u fit in, than budget out what u can afford.
  2. The hard part is that Caterhams fall under clones and not production cars. The whiskers weren't on Lotus 7s. The MAC has to be pushed for the A/B/D/EM rulesets to changed to a "if it doesn't say you can't, then you can", as opposed to the "if it doesn't say you can, then you can't" that is in effect for Stock, Street Touring, Street Prepared, Prepared, and Street Modified. Joshesh - update/backdate doesn't affect 7 Clone aero because there is already a huge clarification 5 years ago. The resultant rules are either in the back of the Mod ruleset or in the Clarification appendix.
  3. Wings are not legal for D/EM. The whiskers are protestable too.
  4. As a swapped subaru and 7 owner, don't part w/ an AWD boost buggy unless u have something to keep you happy when u can't drive a se7en. You really do need to find every sort of se7en and sit and drive them to really get a true feel of fit. Seats especially. There is great deal of difference between a road going 7 and and pure track 7. Then there's the difference of a track 7 to a Formula or Sports Racer. since this can be a purchase of 20-70k, spending as much time on hard research, even if it includes travel to some of the larger meets over the course of a year or 2 would be wise. Many people have bought a se7en, and then not put many miles on them because it is too raw and sold the car.
  5. Does that Zetec have the ford oil pan or a Raceline wetsump?
  6. There's on in NJ w/ the LSx swap. Fully fiberglass body and looks wonderfull w/ the extra wide flared fenders. I was toying with getting one about 4 years ago, but rust and frame issues make a good starting point a high $ item here in the NE. Befoer you know it, the extra factory convience of the Cayman makes much more sense out here. I've seen the built Porsche motors, the subaru EJ series, and the LSx motors. My choice would be the LSx for a project.
  7. ummmm.....Tom and I were sort of texting about this earlier today. i do think that I would have spun it on the 1st first straight though.
  8. skip the Hoo Hoos for your 1st event. Go with 18-22 psi on the old Azenis. Andy Hollis' Top 10 autoX tips ->http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=44932 repeated ad infinitum around the intarwebz. Ignore the rest of the car setup. It won't matter. Find out if they have a novice chief. He/she will be a big help in getting u situated for the day ASAP. If they have a pre-reg system, please use that. Especially if there is a prepay option. It saves a bunch of time on everyones part. If they have a mentor/buddy system for their 1st timers take part in it. Get an instructor for your 1st runs. First to keep you on course from the get go, and then to give advice. I take it you're going to Arky SCCA's season finale weekend? This seems to be their local forum: http://autox.i-55.com/forums/index.php?showforum=40
  9. tempting. more tempting is ALMS weekend, but that's a week before the SCCA National Tour comes to NJ. hmmmm....
  10. Completely forgot about this. Took the 7 up to Ct instead.
  11. You won the awesome post of the day, Skip. Glad this keeps you driving your 7!
  12. If I didn't have family plans, I'd consider coming out for the AutoX Martin. Then fly back for work. I think GGPCA Alemeida has an event as well Saturday. Westchester Sports Car Club has an autoX sunday, but I suspect that will be scrubbed as well. Maybe a snowX, but that lot is very tiny(course loops 3x).
  13. And I will exit stage right-> As I will need to be at work Sunday night, and the temperatures will stay around freezing in the overnight, I don't think I will go play in the ice w/ the 7. Not that I haven't done it before, but across 2 states is a different story. Its a shame, but it sucks not seeing everyone this year
  14. if the weather is clear, I will have an open seat too.
  15. hmmmm.... why aren't WE in the parade?
  16. Bigger question, what's the new masters opinion of Caterham USA. Yes, Dyson can do the job, but why possibly weaken the brand stateside when you have chance to strengthen it.
  17. "User CP" -> "Edit Options"; in the middle of the page, there is a spot to select for various email notififcations.
  18. If I was making motorsports park, I would want to shore up as much possible revenue as I could. A single track leaves only one option per day. being able to run 2 circuits simultaenously can allow one track to be rented while members play on the other. flip it forthe other day of the weekend. Liberty Bell seems to be dealing with reality. especially when the competetion is Pocono, Summit Point, NJMP, the Glen, and BeaveRun. MMC build their track w/o consulting any other organization. They had it built and then asked the regions if they wanted to rent it out. It failed in numerous run off areas. I thinkl these were fixed last year when they had the track sut down for a few months.
  19. Track configuration is a fustercluck. If it stays that way your dues and initiation fees are going to skyrocket before completion when the futures costs and intake are figured. I got the same email, and it would be a nice diversion. i love the elevation changes. If the track gets reworked so at least 2 simultaneous circuits can be running, your money is not being pushed into a black hole. I'd also be looking for SCCA and NASA approvals before construction or they'll learn their lesson like MMC.
  20. If nothing happens w/ the kodiaks, I think I want to be in the know...hint hint!
  21. Mike - love the aeroscreen. Question, should there be a clamp on the hose for the dry sump tank. For that matter, is it really only one hose leading to that apollo tank?
  22. there was an advisory from Toyo a number of years ago. Caveat Emptor. Mine stay indoors in a basement during the winter if I expect to need them for the next year.
  23. rather not be driving long distance w/ a cracked windshield.
