  1. Hey Al, your not seriously going to tease us like that. Well, did you buy one of the Levante's??:yesnod: or are you still going old school? I know MoPho isn't selling you Orange back. And if you do bring a new se7en to Birmingham, I hear that the Autox course is 1 mile long. (Hint..take an instructor along ) If you're trailering down to LOG29, lets talk. Tom
  2. Always loved the Elan. But 1500 pounds and only 160 hp, what a porker  . Tom
  3. I would have thought that your buddy that built it and had it so long would have helped you get it registered, since he's been in business so long.   Sorry couldn't resist. Tom

I have removed the seat bottom and fitted a foam pad to get a better view thru the windscreen, but I was certainly drivable without that mod. The SV is much wider and althought it is very roomy, the only thing I really like about it is the wider pedalbox. Here's two shots of me in the car. The first is driving the second is as a passenger. The Passenger seatbottom is in so you can see the headroom difference. http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/308285931_autox cbp 3.jpg http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1633068205_autox 10 19 08 g.jpg
  5. My Bad. I had assumed that my FIA rollbar would be fine. I plan on fitting the Petty Strut as well to be extra safe. I will ping Jim re: my seven. However, having never done a track day, I plan on being in the Novice group and getting passed alot. Tom
  6. Dean, where are you finding this info? The only reference to 'Open Cars" was that they are allowing those Factory Convertibles with pop up roll bars to participate. I haven't seen anything that is a 'Sevens' only track run group. As for the autox, I'd love to run with the street tired 7's but running on Hoosier Slicks is just too much fun. Do I read the tech inspection form correctly in that it requires an independent mechanic to inspect and sign off on the form? Other than my hotel reservations, I haven't reqisterd for Log29 yet as I'm waiting to see what events the USA7s group may be running that may conflict with the Log events. Tom
  7. I have 2, was going to Log only originally. Tom
  8. I believe that the Birken and the standard Caterham S3 are the same size. The Caterham SV is wider and slightly longer. Don't know about the Westie. Tom
  9. Take a look http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/403131879_sizecomparison.bmp
  10. Dean, I have a question. My cousin is going to make the trip with me. He's family but not immediate family as defined. If he's not going to participate in the driving events does he still have to have a Lotus membership? I assume that he will have to pay the $75 fee as opposed to the $25 family one. Is that a safe assumption? Tom
  11. Good luck Skip! Make sure they do the correct one. :ack: Tom

  13. I tend to agree with Martin. Check the driveshaft U joints. tom
  14. Looks somewhat like a cross between the superformance S1 and the Panoz roadster although that had a v8 and was much bigger.
  15. Jon, I'm open to suggestions on the route. What I posted is from Google maps. I am thinking that we might plan to leave very early on Wednesday, like 3am early to beat the Philly/DC traffic. 3 hours or so past DC by 6am and we should have clear sailing. Towing, I will be alot slower than you guys that will be driving. I figure that with stops it may take closer to 17-18 hours of driving. So the plan would be to get as far as we can the first day, (without beating ourselves up too badly) and then try to arrive around 2pm or so on Thursday. (check in for LOG29 is noon to 6pm. Hotel checkin is 4 pm, according to my confirmation. Again, I'm open to suggestions. Let's see who is interested in heading down and then we can go offline and discuss the options. This is going to be a blast. Tom
  16. Thanks Martin! Great Job. :hurray: And based on the calendar I don't see any rain in the forecast. Tom
  17. Yeah, I was torn about going to the LOG29 and not going to the USA7s event, but the extra couple of days towing to and from the track event was a turn off for me. This is good news IMO. I just booked my hotel reservations. Looking forward to seeing you guys. Tom
  18. Again,if that's the only bolt you are missing, seriously, don't sweat it. Trust me, The wing won't fall off. Tom
  19. Ok, no problem. but like I said, snug the others up tight and that might work. bTW, are you using the black welting between the wing and the body? That should fill any gaps and stop the squeaking. Tom
  20. Here's a pic from my build. If you look real closely, you can see the small silver colored rivenuts in the skin where the wing attaches. Tomhttp://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1231750467_diff install.jpg
  21. David, the rivenuts are in the sideskin and the bolts screw into them. (however, could they could have been ripped out by the previous owner and never replaced???)
  22. On my 2000 Caterham, the rear wing fasteners are all the same all the way around the wing. They go into rivenuts in the side skin. Except for 3 that go into the boot and those have washers on both sides with nylocs. If I remember correctly they were M5x20 bolts. I've replaced my steel ones with nylon ones. I only use 3 or 4 bolts to hold on the wings I use for autoxing. If they are tighened, they hold the wing on very securely, and if I hit a cone, they nylon bolts break off and do not damage the rivenuts or sideskin. If you're only missing a couple of bolts, check that the others are snugged up. Tom
  23. Curious. When I tried to look that site up last week, I got a notice that it had expired and that they had not renewed the site. Nice to see that it is back up. Price is still too high. Guess I better start sanding. :ack: Tom
  24. Yeah, I'd like to buy a new right rear wing, and the UK price is 84 pounds. That's roughly about $132 US. Too bad the shipping would be prohibitive. I paid $200 a couple of years ago for one from a US dealer. No one seems to posts a price list anymore. Tom
  25. Morgan, I really like that last photo of your car!!! The lighting is awesome. I still can't believe that Al sold that car. Tom
