If left turns are your issue, you should come to NJMP there are only 2 lefts on each track. :driving: And they are the slowest turns on the tracks. Well it MIGHT help. :leaving: Tom

My 2000 Caterham water temp gauge is in C. and the car runs right at 80 C which is dead middle in the gauge. 80C is about 176F so pretty close to your number. Is the gauge just rotated a bit?

I usually fill a couple of 2.5 gallon plastic tanks or a couple of 5 gallon ones, and use a flexible funnel that will fit in the filler hole and fill it that way. I never took it to a gas station.

Just reread your prior posts and you must have the patience of a saint. I hate electrical issues. I agree that loading up and getting the gear packed for a trackday is a chore and in this heat can be exhausting in and of itself. Since none of us have a crew to get things ready for us, this is not an easy sport to participate in. However, my feeling is that it's more about the comraderie than the lap times. The NJMP event is really a social event, not a competition and therefore skipping a session isn't a big thing for me. Hanging out with the attendees between session and at the meals is great. Nice people and lots of laughs. I autoxed for about 8 years and it was more exhausting as you had to work between runs and really don't have much time to socialize. So for me, trackdays allow for more seat time and more rest and social time. As for the heat, taking it out of you, I heartily recommend buying a cool shirt cooling system. Sitting in the infield after I pulled off track, and over to the flag station, I was greatful that I had that coolshirt system working. They make a six pack and a 12 pack soft bag that you can belt in the passenger seat. I have the six pack which will keep you cool for a 30 minute session. Just fill it with ice and water and you are good to go. It really does help keep you from overheating and brain fade. Running at the speeds we do, you really don't want to be out there if you aren't able to focus, because of heat or fatigue. IMO. Tom

But your electrical issue was a disconnected plug, so I don't count that. :smash: But you have to admit that it was a pretty clean event. Shane, Kitcat has a similar story from one of the past years events. He made it all the way back to Cincy with the hitch sitting on top of the ball. I'm sure he will explain in greater detail if prodded. Well, I'm just starting to feel less sore and tired after the event even though I only made a little less than the first session before my throttle cable snapped and the TPS broke. I did do a few instructor laps with Matt in his Westfield, but My ears started to bleed from him doing 9000 rpm in third at 110 mph!!! ( well maybe it just felt like they were) :ack: Luckily Simon filled in for the last session with him for me. Thanks Simon! All in all it was a pretty good event IMO. Only Fred, Chris and I had mechanical issues which cut our participation short. Nothing of a serious nature. Simon replaced my throttle cable and TPS, so mine is running again. Fred lost a rectifyer and went looking for a part but never came back. Hopefully he found one and his way home. Chris S, brought his recently rebuilt Lotus 7 out with a brand new engine rebuild that limited him to 4000 rpm, but had a vibration which he felt needed attention and as a former SCCA racer, he has more sense than most of us and packed it up to run another day. He says he will definitely be back next year. Norm did have an on track incident :willy_nilly: which was a bummer, but he's ok and hopefully his wife is the understanding type. Everyone played very nicely out on track, and from the smiles, I'd say that everyone had a great time. It was also nice to have a great turn out of wives and significant others. They were troopers putting up with the noise, heat and long days of watching us. Luckily the timing towers offered some good cool A/C and viewing. Thanks to all who made the commitment and effort to attend. It is so nice to have our own run group of 7s out there on track. Thanks to Glen and Mike for their video and Photo contributions. And Thanks to NJMP for allowing us to bring a lot of guests and giving us our own run group. Hope to see a few other here join us next year. Tom

Do you have the uprated 4 piston front calipers? If you do the Mintex 1144 up front and the blue dot sierra pads were the standard road/track set up and work well. I think the Padgid RS14 pads are another option for the front. They are NOT street pads. Tom

just got back to the hotel after tonight's dinner. What a day, what a event! Forecast yesterday had 100% chance of rain with Thunderstorms and rain forecasted for the whole day and evening today. Lucky for us the weather models and forecasters are wrong more than they are right. It did rain around 7am but the track was dry by 9am and our first session didn't begin until 10:30am. The sun came out and we had an awesome day again. Everyone behaved, cars all ran strongly and tonight's dinner and award were excellent. Lots of laughs and great conversation. Exciting arrival day at NJMP. Old friend S1 steve N. showed up to say hello. Kitcat, Xcarguy and croc all were practicing their ice dancing spin moves out on the track. Quite the exciting day. Shane's beast looks and sounds awesome. Croc's stable of vintage race cars is amazing. And Kitcat is just plain awesome. :jester: Karting was called off due to the heat. The manager said she was losing some of her employees to heat exhaustion. So we hit the bar and the pool early. Good turnout for dinner, I think the count was twenty two or so. And we stepped out side after dinner to watch the fireworks display that was on track at TBolt tonight. What a great way to celebrate the 4th of July. :flag: Breakfast at 8:30 tomorrow morning then drivers meeting and on track around 10 ish. Should be a hoot. Good night. Tom

Mike, Cold water, Gatorade etc. is provided at the track as part of your registration fee, as well as the buffet breakfast and Lunch on Thursday and Friday. They will keep the fridges stocked thoughout the day. You are on your own for today and Wednesday though. I'm all loaded up so I'll see you guys early tomorrow morning. Stay cool. I had a similar experience the first time I sat in an S3. the dealer took out the seat bottom and put in a piece of foam. That allowed me to get lower in the car and legs no longer hit the steering wheel. I'm only 6'1" though. I now have an S3 and an SV. I like the snug fit of the S3 but do appreciate the bigger footwell of the SV. The SV has lowered floors and the prior owner was 6'8". I built a foam bead seat for the S3 which is only a bead or two thick and that really helped get me lower and avoid the knee banging the steering wheel. Maybe you should go back and pull out the seat bottom cushion and try it again. Good luck. Tom
