  1. I have the Caterham six speed in my yellow car. It’s a great match with my high revving RoverK series motor. The ratios are a great match and I love the long first gear which gets me to 60mph. The 1:1 sixth gear allows it to keep pulling down the straights. Nice short throws as well. Tom
  2. Croc is right on as usually. I woke up this morning thinking I had to amend my post to say that the Sadev sequential would not be good on the road. Especially so with the paddle shifter. Great on the track but it REALLY does not like to go slow. At lower paddock type speeds it feels like a bag of bolts shifting. Whereas at flat out full no lift throttle it’s as smooth as butter. Oh and the straight cut gear whine is constant. Then again you probably know all that from your formula Atlantics. Can’t wait to see you on track with it soon. I just got the word that my car is god to go after it’s preseason prep. I’ll pick it up tomorrow and be looking forward to the next warm dry track day. When will yours be shipped back? Tom
  3. Easy. Sadev and paddle shifter. Tom.
  4. The 420 spec is a great package. Plenty of power without the drama. Ours are just a little faster on the straights. No skill required to do that, only deep pockets.
  5. Sounds like a beast John. When Croc finishes CATkong that will make three of us in the 300+ club. Let’s go guys. It’s been lonely up here for so long. Tom.
  6. A Quick simple solution to your knee issue is to pull out the lower sear cushion and use a thin inch or so if very firm foam. That should help temporarily. Then you can make your own cushion to the height you need with some foam beads, some two part epoxy, and one of those vacuum space saver bags. Then cover it and you are set. Not factory like your nice looking seats but comfortable and you’ll be able to get your head and helmet under the roll bar if you ever put it on track. Congratulations and Enjoy Tom.
  7. Sheesh. Nobody. Expects the Spanish Inquisition. Passat?..
  8. Kit Kat. No worries here about global warming. I’ll drive my v8 F150 and burn my 109 octane race gas just going round and round in my two Caterham just to piss off all the Prius drivers. I’ll use up every carbon credit they have and then some. I’ve got 4 of my 5 fireplaces on and a fire pit burning and a brisket in the smoker. ⛄️
  9. I’m a probable, definite maybe.
  10. Paul, on my yellow car I had the same issue as you with the standard Caterham headrest. I pulled it out and installed the roll bar mounted head brace to which I added a couple of pieces of roll bar padding split to get the right thickness for my head position. On my Orange car that I bought from Karl., he had replaced the standard Caterham Tillet on the driver side with a different Tillet branded model which has a slightly lower head back and as Croc stated it, it is tilted rearward a bit. Tom.
  11. Just bought my Third helmet. Splurged on the Bell Dominator in 2000, then economized slightly with the Bell GP2, and splurged again this time with the 2020 Bell GP3 Carbon. All had duckbills, all had air ports, all pretty light. The new helmet seems a little lighter, but maybe it's just my imagination. The way I figure, they have a ten year life for casual track use. So the Bell Carbon is $999.95 vs the non carbon, which is $599.95, so roughly $400 difference over ten years. $40 a year more. Might as well look good. You can't take it with you. :seeya: Tom PS, yes you will get hit in the head with rocks, and other debris especially if you happen to end up behind Kitcat on track.
  12. I’m betting the Miata ends up with an LS in it and a wing that he “borrowed” from his job site. :seeya:
  13. I have an S3 and an SV and I’m about 90 minutes north of Camden Yards assuming no traffic issues. I’m about the same size as you and fit in both. Size 11 shoe. You are welcome to try them on for size.
  14. With clams it is too tight to use a screw driver. A dime or penny works well as does a Dzus tool. With cycles on an SV screwdriver works fine
  15. From one TG to another. Great looking car. Looks track ready. Hope to see him at NJMP next year if it happens. Tom
  16. while that is true, I have found that I don’t have the need or balls to go that high. When it was dynoed a couple of years ago they took it up pretty high. It was still pulling when they backed off at around 8600. it’s got plenty of torque and pulls like the truck engine it is. I’m enjoying it being the top dog and I will obviously be handing over that crown to Croc when his arrives at the track next spring. I’m sure Bruce will come back to NJMP next year to deliver it :driving: we need a new driving emoji for Croc and I that uses paddle shifters :smilielol5: Tom.
  17. Just finished up dinner with a few of us who will head out in the morning. After being holed up for quite a few months It was great to get out and actually visit with everyone at the track. Although this was a slightly smaller group than some of our other events the quality of the conversation and the number of smiles made up for the size. We also had a good turnout of wives and fiancées and a couple of kids too. Thank you all for coming out. I think we all enjoyed the cooler weather after last July’s scorcher, even though the outdoor dinners were a bit chilly. Thanks to all that made the effort to come out and play. We missed a few of our past regulars due to the schedule change and we hope that we will see you next year if we can get approval. We hope your travel home is safe and uneventful. Thanks to Mike for dinner tonight too:cheers::cheers:
  18. 99% sure that switch is the only one to operate the brake lights. On mine it was just a matter of tightening the locknut up to make sure it made contact with the plunger when the brakes were depressed. Good luck althought that switch does look pretty groaty. May be worth cleaning up a bit. Just be careful if you try to open it up. That spring will try to escape. And it’s really good at getting lost. 😂
  19. We will miss you John. You may want to make a call to the builder and tell him to find another 50-60 more HP. If you want to keep up with Croc’s new beast next year. :seeya:
  20. I don't know about NJ specifically, but here in Pa. the local CVS does drive up tests. I don't know how fast of a turnaround they give for results, but you could call and ask.
  21. One Week to go :driving: Get any last minute fixes done. Check your tire pressures and torque your lug nuts. Long range forecast for what it's worth is for the low 60s during the day and mid to high 40's at night. It will be chilly for the first session so dress appropriately. Croc told me no one signed up for Karting this year which is a shame, since a lot of the regular lightweights, can't make it this year and us heavyweights would have had a fighting chance. But it does save me from a lot of bruising since Croc usually broadsides me at least once a session. :smash: Safe travels everyone. See you next week. Tom
  22. Congrats Angelo, Tell us more. What specs. I have both, stainless and carbon on my cars. just depends on if you want to match your other trim items i guess. Doesn't make the car go any faster. Tom
  23. Well, we are about 2 weeks out from our upcoming event at NJMP. So hopefully everyone is bunkered down and staying safe for the next two weeks getting their cars ready. :smash: Croc has started cleaning up his garage and hiding the good wine in anticipation. Long range weather outlook seems that we won't be sweating like we did last July, so bring a jacket or sweatshirt as we will be eating outdoors and it can get a bit chilly at night. Hopefully you all fit in your cars after being shut in for several months, I will be bringing my Orange SV and leaving my Yellow S3 home as I don't think I will fit in it right now. :leaving: Looking forward to seeing you all. Feel free to let Croc or I know if you have any question, especially the first timers. This event isn't a race, it's a Relaxed, Fun, laugh filled opportunity to spend time on and off track with other 7 nuts. Tom
