scannon
LOG35 will be based in Colorado Springs August 20 - 24, 2015. This is the second time Lotus Colorado (LOCO) has hosted this national event. All Se7en type cars are welcome to join in the fun. We've had this discussion elsewhere on this forum and I could not find it but let me assure you that ANY Se7en variant is welcomed with open arms. Yes, there might be a few hard core Lotus owners that turn up their nose at any not real Lotus 7 but the majority of the people are welcoming and pleasant to deal with. Details are at: http://www.log35.com/ One of the events will be a run up Pikes Peak. The LOG35 cars will be the first ones up the mountain on Sunday morning. They understand we will may not be observing the speed limits but asked to have someone reasonably sane leading the pack. This person will be a professional racer in an Exige, you figure it out. Latest news: LOG 35 Honored Guest - Bobby Unser The LOG 35 committee is proud to announce that our special guest speaker for the Saturday night banquet will be Bobby Unser. A veteran of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb, Bobby became known as the "King of the Mountain." He won the sports car division in a Lotus 23 way back in 1964 and the record he set in that win has never been broken. It has stood for over fifty years. That little Lotus 23 cast a shadow almost as big as the Mountain. Come hear Bobby tell all about this car and other adventures at the Saturday night banquet at LOG 35, August 22, 2015. If you have never heard Bobby speak, be prepared for a frank, blunt and colorful remembrance of what it was like on the mountain. We promise: you will enjoy his remarks! Croc
Damn I am out of the country when this happens! :svengo: This is one LOG I would consider attending as I believe Skip when he says it would be inclusive. Skip's club welcomed me with open arms when I gave my then-new CSR a shakedown run one fine weekend day along one of their spectacular canyon routes. I can guarantee the drives will be "spirited". :driving: Skip - There is a good chance I will be seeing you sometime this year pre-LOG and catching up for a beer and a burger. One of my race cars is at a restoration place in the Denver area and I plan to stop in at least once. I probably should also give it a track shake down run at a top local track before it heads east! Kitcat
"One of" your race cars? Inquiring minds need to know which one? The Mustang is done, right? Is this an Aussie import?
Croc
Mike - think Batmobile of the IMSA kind. Yes it is an Aussie import of a Euro car. You will see it at NJMP as it will be finished then (he says hopefully). :leaving: And now back to Skip's original post of LOG 35 in Colorado in 2015 :seeya:

toedrag
Mailed the registration form today for wifey & I. I'll be doing the autocross (first time...ever) and track day (first time w/Stalker). It feels odd to be registering before I've ever started the Stalker engine, but I guess that's the way it goes sometimes. We'll attempt to meet up with the British Speed caravan as it heads by north of DFW. Planning on driving the car vs trailering, but again, that's the 'plan' without ever actually having driven it The next 3 months should be interesting leading up to it. scannon
Thanks for registering toedrag, I'm looking forward to meeting you at the event. It looking to be a truly great event. The event hotel is completely booked except for the higher priced suites. Over 700 room days booked so far. We were told that it would be a good idea to go ahead and get on the waiting list for the cheaper rooms as there is usually a number of cancellations. There is an alternate hotel in the works, check the log35.com website for more info. To avoid the late registration fee, your mailed entry must be postmarked by tomorrow, May 29th. Peter Egan was planned to be one of the guest speakers however he has informed us he is undergoing a lengthy treatment for Hep C continuing through the event and cannot attend. toedrag
I emailed Lotus Club Ltd HQ to ask about a Tech Inspection sheet for the Track day, and have yet to receive a response. Does anyone have details on what's required for the Track Day?
MightyMike
I'll check.
scannon
I think that is still undecided. The Mercedes club is handling the track day and will make the rules. There should be info coming out fairly soon.
Paul Hill
Three weeks til LOG.... Skip: Keeping with the theme of this group vs the majority of LOG attendees, besides the secret handshake, do we have any plans for recognising OUR members? Rosemarie and I are flying into Denver early Wednesday, have some tourist railway tours planned for Wednesday/Thursday so will check in later Thursday. Unless something more fun turns up we have a Mustang convertible rented but if someone had a Seven or Lotus whatever available we could have our arm twisted! Looking forward to seeing more of Colorado, plan to twist our legs around the 4 corners monument, plus other fun touristy things.
DeanG
We will be there in a 1991 Elan. More luggage space, it has a top and doors, AC, radio, turbo for the high altitude... It should be fun. The last Colorado LOG had several Lotus VI in attendance. The altitude took a lot of the flat head powered cars. I'm looking forward to the drive up Pike's peak. I hope to spend some time around Durango before LOG.

scannon
Paul, We will be parking our Se7ens with the real Sevens but other than that nothing special is planned for our group. How many USA7s members are planning on attending? Somewhere along the line we should all get together for lunch or one of the planned drives. The Four Corners is overrated IMHO. A small monument and a bunch of touristy trap booths selling Indian artifacts mostly made in China. :jester: There are many more things to do without driving out to the middle of nowhere. Highway 550 from Durango to Silverton is one of the great roads in the country and is in that area. Skip Three weeks til LOG.... DeanG
In times past I have tried to get people together for a breakfast meet. It has generally worked well for the M100 folks (there are only a few of us). A Se7en gathering could be done. There is a lot packed into a LOG (last LOG I was still recovering from open heart surgery, it was the first time at LOG where I wasn't going 5AM-2AM). Besides the hotel's undoubtedly pricey restaurant the only thing I see that might fit the bill is New Day Cafe 5901 Delmonico Dr Colorado Springs, CO 80919. Anyone with local knowledge have any interesting and close breakfast places.\?
Paul Hill
Thanks for your thoughts Skip. While I am of a similar opinion re tourist traps like the 4 corners, since we will be relatively close to ride the Durango & Silverton train I was overruled so I agreed to the corners if could hit some of the Million Dollar Highway. Dean.... we're flexible as to a get-together, whatever you and/or Skip can arrange. We're also open to other attraction suggestions while we're there. My email hasn't overflowed with offers of a Lotus to drive so I guess we'll live with the Mustang..... Counting the days!
randychase
Joe (CSR with Sadev + RST engine) will be there, driving the Zenos E10s from San Diego. I will be there and take the Zenos back to Tennessee. Driving to LOG in a Mustang also.
