scannon
Its not in Dennis Ortenburger's book "Lotus Seven & the Independents". http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/1507-throwback-thursday-the-1996-mazdaspeed-ms-007/ http://image.automobilemag.com/f/127365983+w620+h413+q80+re0+cr1+ar0+st0/mazdaspeed-ms007-concept-front-end.jpg http://image.automobilemag.com/f/127366007+w660+h440+q80+cr1+ar0/mazdaspeed-ms007-concept-front-three-quarters.jpg http://image.automobilemag.com/f/127366016+w660+h440+q80+cr1+ar0/mazdaspeed-ms007-concept-rear-three-quarters.jpg http://image.automobilemag.com/f/127365758+w660+h440+q80+cr1+ar0/mazdaspeed-ms007-concept-interior.jpg

Croc
Bit of a mish mash from a design point of view. Front on reminds me of the Panoz AIV. Rear end reminds me of the Clubman race car series in Australia where regular sevens were faired in for aero. Neat idea with the headlights though! S1Steve
Not much to look at.... Maybe if they lent it to me for the weekend I would learn to like it.... Rear looks like a Ferrari P3, the rest of it looks like the Panoz...
mrmustang
As with Skip, I can't say I've ever seen this before, given the lighting used, I'll say lower Suffern, UK based. Not an OE Mazda item though, but cool just the same. Bill S.
xcarguy
So, consensus seems to be that Panoz and Ferrari had a sleepover, or maybe it was a threesome….can we throw Austin-Healey in the mix and call it the P3-AIV Bugged-eyed Sprint? And, will Monster Miata shoehorn in an LSx?
scannon
And, will Monster Miata shoehorn in an LSx? Monster Motorsports put 5.0 Ford engines in their Miatas. If I owned this car I would consider having Flyin Miata stuff an LSx in it or at least a turbo system.

sevenup
I don't care for it, but have to admit it is a classic example of function over form...
coffee break
It looks like a "butt lifter" would be needed to enter/exit. I didn't see any doors. Being a design/art project, having no doors is understandable.

scannon
But the fish eyes pop out and become bugeyes when you need the lights. Good aero for the track. I think the rear fenders look similar to those on the Lotus 7 S4 which I have grown to like after following one on a Lotus club trip last year. The orange one parked next to my blue Caterham in this picture. Edit: Once again I am unable to link a picture to this forum. See if this will work. I agree about needing a lift to get in over those side walls/sills or whatever you want to call them. Edited July 4, 2015 by scannon
xcarguy
The headlights look like fish eyes. Mike, you beat me to the punch. I'm thinking 'Finding Newmo'. :jester: Edited July 11, 2015 by xcarguy

xcarguy
Nobody else sees a Corvair rear? Good heavens, man! Entirely too domestic! Everybody's talking about drinking merlot, and you want to throw in a can of Schlitz?...boulderdash! :jester: Edited July 11, 2015 by xcarguy
TLRracer
I lived in Japan for 20 years or so and Mitsuoka Motors built the Zero 1 - it had a Miata engine and was quite the well done ripoff. http://www.mitsuoka-motor.com/global/lineup/history/zero1/
