slomove Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Honda project 2&4 concept car with bike engine on FAA in Frankfurt. Some weird details but I find some vague resemblance, at least the front view. Some more info http://cdn3.spiegel.de/images/image-894292-galleryV9-kdqq.jpg Edited September 13, 2015 by slomove
Davemk1 Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 If they offered that for sale it would make my very short list. dave
coffee break Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Carbon fiber seat for a cockpit wall? Looks like overexposure.
DeanG Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Sacrifice the driver to protect the drive train?
slomove Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Sacrifice the driver to protect the drive train? The Honda bike department was involved in the design. I guess that is not an issue for these guys. For that matter, the "cockpit wall" of a Seven is more a visual than a practical protection in case of an impact. That is what roll cages are made for. scannon Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Honda calls it a "floating seat". I guess the idea is to make a four wheel vehicle as close as possible to a motorcycle experience. It will never make it into production for street use as having four wheels it will have to pass all the safety and crash requirements like any other automobile.
slomove Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 ...It will never make it into production for street use as having four wheels it will have to pass all the safety and crash requirements like any other automobile. I suspect you are right. But it looks cool at an auto show.
xcarguy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 I'm not sure why...just can't put a finger on it...but that seat design makes my back hurt. :jester:

coffee break Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Looks like overexposure. I'm always finding small gravel on my seat when I get out of my car. Just imagine how much crap that front wheel will blast the driver of that thing.

scannon Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Yeah - how am I NOT feeling getting hit with that stuff, but it ends up under me??? --Bob Collum I feel the occasional hit on my face which is one reason I always wear goggles and provide them to passengers. Most of it getting inside the car is first thrown up by the front wheels. It then bounces off the rear wing where the airflow around the windshield and into the cockpit picks it up and drops it in your lap and the floor of the car. After the 2,400 miles of the GBB I vacuumed up several pounds of small rocks and sand from inside my Caterham. Edited September 16, 2015 by scannon
bigdog Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 (edited) Sure looks like it will be easy peasy to "get in" and no worries if one is a bit wide of beam. Of course I would wonder how one gets out as there's no side panel to do a reverse push up on to lift your bum off the seat. Edited September 15, 2015 by bigdog
jimrankin Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Those Honda engineers are always thinking on their feet!! Leaving off the side wall of the cockpit will make it easier to get out to push it backwards when you need to reverse, what with it being a "motorcycle" project. :smilielol5:

slngsht Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Yeah - how am I NOT feeling getting hit with that stuff, but it ends up under me??? --Bob Collum Most of the rocks launch of the front wheels and bounce of the rear fender into the passenger compartment. Most of the time I got hit in the face was during left turns where the left front wheel was sort of pointed at me. of course I ran 275s R compounds in the front and no fenders, so that might have made the situation worse.
