Smithengineered
Just picked up my first Seven yesterday and took it back home to Taylorsville, KY 2005 SV Roadsport with the Ford SVT engine. Needs quite a bit of deep cleaning and a few other things. Does anyone know where I can get the correct color BRG touch up paint and a fuel sender gasket? Thanks 2
Taber10
I strongly recommend cutting your own gasket out of the best "fuel-proof" material you can get. The original fuel pump gasket on my 2007 SV with the Ford SVT motor developed a leak and I got two replacements from Rocky Mountain Sportscars. The "factory" gasket had rectangular holes for the six bolts, which were MUCH larger than necessary, and the material was some type of plastic. The large holes resulted in a very small area of gasket at the edge of the plate that bolts into the tank, and did not seal well at all. I made a gasket from a thicker, rubbery gasket material, and punched holes the exact size of the bolts. So far, it has held up for about ten years. The "factory" gasket, as with many Caterham parts, was from some other manufacturer, and back then was over $30 each, and then shipping from Colorado. Or maybe that was with shipping. Good luck, great looking car! OBTW, my local paint guy easily matched the green color. Taber
panamericano
"Does anyone know where I can get the correct color BRG touch up paint and a fuel sender gasket? " Put the bonnet in the Tacoma and head over to your local automotive paint supplier. They will mix and match till the touch up is just right. 1

Thanks Follow Taber's advice and get a local paint shop to match it. Its a proprietary Caterham color and they varied the shades over the years and will not give out a paint code. If you buy the touch up paint Caterham sells, it is missing the curing agent, assuming you got the right match. I'd make your own gasket for the fuel pump. The Caterham one was from a Rover originally and not very good. Some rubber cut appropriately using the original as a tmeplate plus some blue hylomar and you will be good. Great find! Congratulations! 1
mrmustang
Congratulations on the new toy. I see the Georgia plates, I know of one in that color combination in the Georgia CAT group, but did not know it was for sale, out of curiosity, where did you find it and what part of Georgia did it come out of? JohnCh
Glad you found a car so quickly! I'm looking forward to reading your impressions once you have a chance to put some miles on it. -John
Smithengineered
Thanks guys! I’ll definitely make my own gasket. Is it possible to just drain the tank as much as possible, disconnect the wiring/hose going to the sender and slide the sender out a hair while working the gasket around carefully without having to pull the tank? Bill S. Thanks! It came out of Gainesville, GA and was originally built by a guy by the name of Andy Pearson who had passed away. The kit was sold to him from British Auto Specialties down in Fort Worth Texas.

I’m also figuring I’m going to need a pair of racing shoes asap

I believe that might have been the car I had seen, sorry to hear about Andy's passing, it has been quite some time since I've seen most of that group outside Atlanta. I am surprised I did not know about it from one of the CAT group down in that area. Hope you enjoy it. Bill S.

Andy’s wife was very nice when I met her yesterday and talked to me for a short couple of minutes about Andy and he sounded like a great guy. Vovchandr
Don't overthink the gasket. I got the proper one and it still didn't fit well. Looked for pictures in my thread but couldn't come across them, maybe I never posted them. Either way, DIY is better. Be careful with screws, you don't want to strip the aluminum.

jordway
Oh yeah... one more thing! Since you're going to be doing some paint touch up, I'll pass on this tip from a car guy friend. Dental applicator brushes. I've found nothing that does a better job of touching up small chips that are inevitable on a Seven. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SBFKFK9/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&aaxitk=dc0269efc40e95a2e1088acde884ef91&content-id=amzn1.sym.552bcbb2-81a1-4e8b-b868-3fba7d5af42a%3Aamzn1.sym.552bcbb2-81a1-4e8b-b868-3fba7d5af42a&hsa_cr_id=4531160770501&pd_rd_plhdr=t&pd_rd_r=dd5ceb5a-7c8f-4502-9bf8-446acd549572&pd_rd_w=ZhTr9&pd_rd_wg=g8kst&qid=1670429643&ref_=sbx_be_s_sparkle_mcd_asin_1_title&sr=1-2-9e67e56a-6f64-441f-a281-df67fc737124&th=

Smithengineered
Made a gasket out of some 1/8” Buna-n material. Also started a deep clean using some Honey brand leather cleaner/conditioner. Works great!
