inchoate
I rigged up a flasher relay and got the biggest, brightest third brake light I could find. Definitely one of the better modifications I've done.

DavidL
Very cool to hear that you guys know Kurt and his projects. I started reading the Midlana blog problably 10 years ago, and eventually bought the Midlana and the Kimini books. I found those books, along with Ron Champion's book, very inspiring. I have all the Carrol Smith books, which are great. I read one of Staniforth's, but I found the writing style really difficult, to the point that the technical point was sometimes lost on me. Maybe that's just me. I've actually got an idea brewing for a build, bit I don't know if I can actually make it happen. I've got a tired 1996 GS-R Integra in my driveway, which I love, who doesn't like a VTEC rev-happy engine with an 8,100 rpm redline. The idea is to put the drivetrain into an S2 Europa, which of course I don't have. But I know Europas very well, having owned, and worked on, a TwinCam Special for over a decade before I got my Caterham. MV8
That sounds like a perfect donor for a Sylva J15.
TexasRich
Greetings, I’m in central Texas and have been lucky enough to find this Superformance S1. it’s the first one off the assembly line was delivered with the drivetrain installed. i’m a retired petroleum geologist, I love playing with sports, cars, airplanes, or anything else that runs on gas. just north of Austin so there’s plenty of places to ride around here. regards. Rick.
MV8
Consider looking for a future source for glass replacement. If someone made replacement glass and offered frames for retrofit to other makes, there would be a market.
panamericano
Welcome aboard. I'm envious of your location, compared to Dallas. Nice roads down there.
vipergeek
A very nice looking S1! What's the drivetrain? I'm not too far north of you in southwest Fort Worth and lived near Round Rock 83-86 when the airport was still Bergstrom AFB. That drive diagonally across town was a beat down. I don't think traffic has changed much, just become much worse. Nice roads out west though. Your S1 is in great shape for the first one off the line. Gearlatch
New guy here, just wanted to say hello. I have followed this site for many years and thought it was about time to join in. I am a mechanical product engineer and lifelong anything that has an engine enthusiast. My desire for a seven started way back in the late 70's when I was working in Dearborn Michigan on advanced electric vehicle R&D. Occasionally on my way to work down Telegraph Rd I would be passed by a seven, even in the winter. I just thought it was the coolest car. I was driving a SAAB Sonnet at the time. Over the years of SCCA racing and other performance competition I would always see Lotus and Caterham Sevens and think someday I will have to try one. Fast forward to 6 years ago, while browsing craigslist I run across an advertisement for a super nice RHD Caterham that was recently imported from England being sold by a local Cincinnati father / son duo. We purchased it and it has been a riot ever since. We autoX it once in a while, it goes to the Woodward Dream Cruise every year and just generally terrorize the local back roads. It's all great fun. Thanks for letting me join in.
das76
Hi all, I've been lurking on the site for a little while. I live in Victoria BC, I'm a long time British car lover - I inherited that gene from my dad. He had a 1958 Jag XK150 that he sold when I was 4 years old. I never forgave him for that . I still remember being 10 years old (37 years ago) and getting a ride in my cousin's Dutton 7 clone while on a family visit to the UK. Fast forward to this week and I picked up my 2005 Superlight R: https://usa7s.net/ips/topic/14296-2005-superlight-r-victoria-bc I also have a 1979 Mini and 1991 Porsche Turbo: https://usa7s.net/ips/topic/14076-the-other-cars-of-usa7s-members-non-se7ens-only/page/13/#comment-134136 Despite being a life long car fan I've never had the chance to hit the track or do any performance driving. So this week I'm off to our local track, Vancouver Island Motorsports Circuit (1 hr from Victoria) for my HPDE Level 1, and then a bunch of open lapping track days through the spring and summer. Cheers, Dave 1

Chucklestheclwn
Hello all. Joining the forum to expand my knowledge of my semi-attainable dream car. I live in Cleveland, OH, currently own a GTI and a Kawasaki Versys. I'm 6'6" weighing 250 lbs, so my biggest fears with owning one of these is physically fitting. I already know that I'm pretty much forced into an SV with the lowered floor, which is fine by me, I'd just love to sit in one prior to really getting my heart set on one (but let's be honest, it's already set). I already know that a removable steering wheel will be a necessity as well. I'd also love to actually build it myself, and most likey with my freshly retired father as a project. And just for fun and attention, here are a couple pictures of me "fitting" into a Ford GT, Go kart, C1 Corvette (1960 I think), and a Suzuki Cappuccino.
MV8
No seats or shoes for this guy. How do you feel about yoga? The mats make great seat squabs.
panamericano
Just look at the old Lotus Sevens. Cushion across the back and another under the butt and you're set on that end. If your feet are proportionally large, just consider surgically removing the small toe and associated area from each foot. Or maybe just a hand operated clutch and spread out the brake pedal. If no-one has done that yet, be sure to set up a separate thread. Easy! Welcome to the nut house.
Chucklestheclwn
The good lord blessed me with a large body and small appendages, only 10-10.5US sized feet. I'd love to find someone with a shell for me to sit in so I can imagine the rest of it. Being comfy in a seat is for losers anyway.
Alex-Ks1
my size 9 is a very tight fit in the one I built. The next one will be an automatic trans . only 2 peddles to worry about . I may stretch it about a foot and widen about 6 inches, its a tight fit no matter what
Christopher smith
The 1959 series 1 I have was redone with new panels in the foot well area but pretty tight for a size 9 shoe. I have my old racing shoes about 1/4 inch narrower and they work.Hope you find something that works for you.
panamericano
There is nothing like trying one for size. I have 11 1/2 - 12 shoes and fit OK in the Birkin, Did move pedal box for length and bent the brake pedal a bit. Driving shoes with no edge to the soles are a must. JohnCh
There was a forum member here several years ago who was also 6'6" and who fit in his SV with lowered floors. That doesn't mean you will fit or be comfortable, but it's certainly worth pursuing. Not everyone reads this thread (I know...it's shameful) so it might be worth starting a dedicated thread stating you are looking for an SV to try on for size in the Ohio area and indicate how far you are willing to travel. -John
