550 HP factory Caterham-all right then!

Timing is everything... I was just having a nice discussion with some of the guys on locostusa who say a seven doesn't need any more than 200 hp.

As for this one, I'm not sure what's more impressive.. the performance, or the sticker shock.

Very  car though.

550 hp, $230K, yes its a bit over the top. How much of that power could this lightweight car ever put to the road? Seems like a lot of money for on-demand wheel spin.

:yesnod: My power to weight ratio is slightly better than Veyron (counting driver weights, probably equal). I still consider my power usable, since I can't spin the tires at will anymore after about 70. The article says this car has a ratio twice as good. Damn - that thing must be a blast. It might be true that you can't use it all, but you're gonna have fun trying.

Besides maybe owning an oil rig or two to pay for it, an all those tires that one will spin into oblivion, also the tickets one would get while having fun spinning those tires that would be one hell of a TOY if only I could affort it and keep the house an wife an dog an the list just goes on.

OK, agreed my 1600cc Kent Caterham isn't everything I'd truly want, but REALLY, there must be a practical limit, and this has got to be past it...

...and do we even want to mention wings and splitters on Seven-esque cars? :ack:

"You know what I don't like about this car? The headlights...the smaller multi-pod ones just don't do it for me. "

:iagree: Those things are hideous. I do like the wheels though!!

Is nice too some new idea of Seven. But That extreme !!!! I bet you need s special training before, Caterham can let you drive it.

Some interest idea in the car. but those head light................. not my style....... I guess this is cheapest way to redsign head light

That much HP is kind da useless. Slow driver still slow with that much hp... Fast driver still faster no mater what ;)

"Today it reliably puts out 380bhp in naturally aspirated form at a screaming 10,000rpm or 550bhp when supercharged. Torque figures are 190lb/ft and 300lb/ft respectively while the engine with ancillaries weighs just 90kg."

is that possible?

That figures to be just under 200 lbs. My R1 engine/transmission fully dressed weighs less than 150 lbs.

With this much power, what the "ultimate Seven" desperately needs is four-wheel-drive (something I've long believed is the most effective answer to anything over about 350 hp).

Dax Rush offers such a chassis setup, using Ford Escort Cosworth trans/transfer case and front diff bits.

Any weight penalty incurred by 4WD would, I think, be more than made up for by the distinct traction advantage

Now, combine 4WD with traction control and an electronic launch mode, and you'd have the ultimate streetable 0-100-0 machine...
