Well, Brian has done his magic again, and my new baby is making hte long truck ride from Lancaster to Princeton, NJ. Should be here Monday. Too late for any track days this year, but next year.....

It does have a removable windshield, so I can go after the elusive NJ street legal status:

and, of course, there is an interior:

Guess this means, I'm a full-fledged 7'er now, so I need to pay my dues.

Wow is right !

Curious about the front fenders. As-is I'd say "why bother?", and in context of the way our regs up here are generally interpreted, tires must not be "visible from directly above".

Ditto earlier comment, sucks thinking about that in the garage for 4 months. I lived in Absecon down by the coast for two winters, you could probably drive it thru most of the weather we had in 2002-2004.

cheers

I sent the pics to the MVC Special Vehicles guy here in NJ, and he didn't comment on the front fenders. I think they will stop direct backward spray that would wind up in the passenger compartment. It weighs 1050 lbs dry, and the stock F22 engine from the Honda S2000 makes 237 bhp at 8000 rpm. I believe this eninge might make a little more because of reduced losses on intake and exhaust. Will send more pictures after she arrives tonite. Tomorrow is going to be clear, sunny, and 60 DegF in NJ. Might make use of those Texas plates.

"I think they will stop direct backward spray that would wind up in the passenger compartment." - After driving my car in the wet I can honestly say that your fenders are only going to stop a small portion of the spray that's sent up by the front wheels. Especially when you're taking a left hand turn and the wheel is pointing right at you! The case of Lotus "elbow" only adds to the adventure of driving in the wet! :) Here's a photo of my rear fender after a wet drive into work on Friday morning. If you look close you can see a part of a leaf stuck to the rollbar:

It's here. My daughter and I preparing for our first drive. It didn't get here until about 3:30pm, so only had time for a couples of rides around the block. Next weekend. The provisions for NJ registration detract a bit. The heat shield for the exhaust is downright ugly, and the windshield isn't the most elegant, but...

Gotta say WOW again. Jealous as heck... just luverly.

With new side view photos, this comes to mind:

lose that windscreen :ack:

and seriously, put some roll bar padding on the lateral downtubes; even the slightest road bumps will have you and passenger banging heads off them I'd think.

Great looking car, welcome to the Ultralite ranks. I like the windshield for passing the registration procedures, and it will work well for long trips, but the small screens work well for everyday driving.

It is one serious looking car. "yoh, when I walk in the valley of darkness I fear no other car........"

Shotgunslade - What organization are you going to be running your car at LRP with? I'm hoping to get my Birkin on track for some DE-type events after doing some safety mods over the winter. My only track experience was a PCA DE at Watkins Glen a few years back and it'd be fun to do it again. At a minimum it'd be fun to check out the event and watch you run. :)

PS: The look on your daughter's face is priceless!
