All My Cars take two.

Recommended Posts

All My Cars misled me a bit, and reminded me of a topic that is on many of my other forums, and I thought I'd try it here.

What does your automobile past look like? What have you owned, and what do you miss the most?

I'll start;

1989 GMC Sierra (The big safe learning to drive vehicle)

1968 VW Beetle (First project car, All show no go)

1995 Lada Niva (The toughest 4x4 of all my friends at the time)

2002 Subaru TS (Not a WRX :()

2003 WRX (My all go no show Auto-x car)

1999 Birkin (still not finished :willy_nilly:)

2012 Jeep Unlimited

I miss the WRX and the Lada the most. I put my heart and soul into both cars. The WRX for racing, and the Lada for backwoods camping.

This is an entertaining basis for a post!

  • 1971 VW Beetle 1600 (the fast one!) in seasick green - learned to drive on this. Has been in the family since brand new and is still trucking along on original engine and gearbox 300,000 miles - drove it yesterday.
  • 1973 Mazda RX3 rotary
  • Some mongrel of a Formula Vee that I started racing in.
  • An even bigger mongrel of a 1967 Formula Ford that followed the Formula Vee.
  • 1979 Holden Commodore sedan - 1.9L 4cyl - slugs are quicker.
  • 1983 Ford Falcon 5.8L V8 Cleveland. Managed to clock the speedo in this one at 230km/h in the Aussie Outback and promptly lost my license a minute later and discovered it takes a few miles to stop at that speed. Epic car and engine! Looks like this - not the same car:http://www.roadrunner.the-best-hosting.org/pics/1983_XE_Falcon.jpg
  • 1965 Lotus Seven S2 with 1189 BMC engine. Dad nicknamed this Elvis as it was always having hits. I vintage raced this car and sometimes used it on the street. It died in the hands of the next owner around 1998 when a Ford Galaxie decided to use it for brakes on track.
  • 1983 Datsun Pulsar hatchback - taught me why I should not speed - I was restricted to 1.6L 4 cyl in my post-ticket recovery period. here is an old photo: http://datsun1000.com/Images/Models/Large/F8.jpg
  • 1990 Nissan Pulsar Q - ballistically quick little road car. Had a 2.2L 4 cyl in a very light "flexible" body with a trick viscous diff to put the power down. Here she was: http://www.pbcars.com.au/cars/uploads/Products/product_228/1-674.jpg
  • 1982 Holden Commodore V8 'Group C' race car. Still a shell in the family garage - to be restored Not the same car but looks like this:http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8028/7446141556_bdab627fdf_z.jpg
  • 1977 Holden Torana V8 'Group C' race car - still in storage to be restored. Looks like this - not the same car http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7098/7187396572_742069eb35_z.jpg
  • 1987 Holden Commodore V8 'Group A' touring car - needs a new engine and refresh but still runs. Still in the garage and is brilliant for clearing the sinus on a track day. Looks like this : http://125.7.120.148/QWA9JB4Y0DXF0B0A/A110DE7MDD8U4ET0/owl3d3kn5rnynn6u/jpg/590x410/vehicle/1985-Holden-Group-A-Commodore.jpg
  • 1992 Nissan Pulsar SSS - even more ballistically quick road and rally car that one day I managed to unintentionally out run a police pursuit down some twisties. He only caught me and I only realized he was chasing me when I reached the 35mph speed zone at the end of the twisty road and I decided to obey the limit. Oops. Looks like this- mine was red: http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/blnc/121116/615r1/1926jfc_20.jpeg
  • 1997 Subaru Outback wagon - what else does an Aussie drive for his first car in the US especially when your ex-next door neighbor was spruiking them on TV.
  • 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.9L V8. What an engine! Brilliant traction in snow and ice. Handled like a bag of potatoes
  • 2004 Caterham Seven SV SVT Zetec
  • 2010 Audi A4 sedan - reminds me of an upmarket Toyota Camry.
  • 2010 Caterham Seven CSR
  • 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback FIA 289 race car also registered for road

Time to rattle the brain,

First car, Fiat 850 spyder with more rust than good metal, bought it at 14 on the road by the time i could legally drive. Wrecked two months later when my buddy's Mom ran into it and folded the front end in half...

very rusty tr4

very rusty 64 pull door handle MGB

not so rusty 66MGB, later to become my first of many auto-x cars.

many early MGB parts cars, I used to buy them out of the Philly papers for parts and make some cash...

71 ??? FV Autodymanic Mk4

70 something Caldwell D13

70's Winkelman FF, total rebuild, NE region champ, even with me driving

March FA, had it for about a month , then I found out a BDA rebuild was 6K..

77 MGB, perfect, Mom and Dad were so happy that we did'nt have to tow it home... Daily driver for many years, first car payment... Took photo's to prove that you can have sex in a " B" with my girl at the time.. All in the name of science of course....

91 Madza Miata, it would not break or dye...

80's something Kawaski 350 3 Cyl.

80 something Kawaski 750 3 Cyl. Death ride on 2 wheels.... If I lived driving that, I'm good....

Brand New Thunderbird SuperCoup..... Really nice .

A few Ford pick-up trucks

2 GMC envoys

Superformance S1

Norton 650

Honda 750

94 Mustang Cobra, Track beast, show car, still miss it....

You know, I was going quite well reading this list, visualizing the various cars, suitably impressed by the eclectic nature of the members of this forum and the good taste (or lack of) in cars and then I hit it....

....what the hell was a Tomberlin NEV?

Luckily I dont feel ashamed to not recognize a glorified golf buggy :D
