Not sure if this is the same one as Croc has above, but at least there is a photo:

By the way, Croc, on this one - https://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/5637612251.html , you really should warn a brother to put on the safety glasses before looking.

Hi Pana! Sorry was running late so did the super quick dump of the results. The Akron car is nice - I like the dog in the passenger seat! :p

Yes - the denver craigslist I posted is the same as the one you have but with photo now. Its been on this thread quite a few times over the past year. BAT has now picked it up

http://bringatrailer.com/2016/06/19/cosworth-bdr-power-1974-lotus-super-seven-s4/

I am sure Scannon or Bsimon know the car well if people were seriously interested.

Regarding this last one:

Another on Bringatrailer today

http://bringatrailer.com/2016/06/20/...uper-seven-s2/

This gives me pause. It really looks original, but says replica, with no kit brand mentioned. (How long since anyone did a home built replica with a flat seat?) It made me think how easy it is to fence a stolen Seven, Just register it as a replica in your state. It really only entails going back and forth to the DMV until they are satisfied. Steal a Caterham (God forbid a Lotus), sell it as a Birkin or home built, etc. Am I paranoid or is it just my shady back ground?

The ebay auction says "Built on used Arch Motors chassis and titled and registered in Idaho since 2004 as a Replica/Reconstruct Vehicle, 1962 Lotus Super Seven."

But regarding the rest of your concern, I dunno.

Its fair criticism. You can buy a chassis from Arch by saying it is a "replacement". I know of a Caterham which had a chassis replacement and got its original VIN listed on the replacement chassis. The original chassis still exists as a Caterham race car in the DC area. The chassis was sold off by an insurance company to recover their losses. While it was reported to Caterham USA by the owner you still have two chassis running around with identical VINs. Who says the next owner will not register the original chassis race car as a road car?

I am sure there are a few "faked" original Lotus 7s around as it is so easy to buy a 'replacement' chassis. At least the BAT car does not try to pass itself off as original.

Kudos to Ian7 on this forum for asking a few pertinent questions on the BAT seven!

Kudos to Ian7 on this forum for asking a few pertinent questions on the BAT seven!

Thx. Full text of my questions and replies for those following the auction:

"Hi, that "chip in steering mount" is actually a cracked brake master cylinder mount. I would not drive it like that whatsoever.

That said, its easily replaced, car looks good, and I'm waiting until Monday ....

Any idea what specific Quaife box you have?

Is the axle reinforced properly?

Who built the engine?

thx"

"Hi, part of the mount is broken, seems okay but I just wanted to point it out, the bolt seems to tighten sufficiently. The gearbox is an early Ford, from the Pinto and similar with the smaller input shaft than the SOHC engine cars had such as the Capri 2.0. Only the shifter is Quaife, as is the shift knob. The throws are very short, which some may not like, but it is quite precise, with no play. It's new. The axle does not have the beam welded to it as some have done. If I had more power and sticky tires I would go with the Ford one, and change the Spitfire hubs out on the front to ones with the Ford bolt pattern. Engine done locally by me, so take your chances! Thank you."

Stop perving on the other cars for sale Dan. Starting driving your Westfield and consider the many things you would like to spend upgrading. I think Flying Miata could help you out with a catalog. Have you seen their Westfield Turbo kit?

Sorry the pithy remarks have fallen off for lack of time. I get up at 4 and hit bed at midnight 7 days a week - there is not much free time these days. Dont expect much this coming weekend either as I am working on the sevens event in Millville, NJ. Come along Panamericano - we would love to see another forum member in person!

poor Croc. I don't get here often, but I'll volunteer this time to fill in as the Croc stunt-double this week while he is otherwise preoccupied.

Pith!

Pith!

Pith-pith!

Super double pith!

Hey, I was in Dallas just a few days ago.

Pith-o-rama.

Pith-agorean theorem.

I'm sure these are all fine vehicles, except for any that may be suspect. I don't know, as I didn't actually look at any of the ads. It's tough being a stunt double for the master of taking the pith! ;)

Croc,

If your invite to NJ includes air freight for the Birkin, from Dallas, I'm there! Your schedule made me tired just reading it.

But Panamericano, if Tom C from Birkin USA can drive all the way from Eagle CO then I am sure you could drive up and say howdy to us! ;-p

I am packing the home for a move next week and have been at it since 4am. Geez it sucks. So I thought I would come on here for a break and be pithy!

So Marshall Goldman, the well known Ferrari dealer in Cleveland Ohio has a bunch of virtually new Caterhams for sale. Are they a dealer or did a dealer go under and this is a consignment sale? Entertainingly, I found them by looking under Triumph! The last one is listed under Ferrari. The models range from a 270 S3 to a 485 SV. Prices are all fixed buy it now ranging from $47800 to $57500 Mileage is sub 100 miles.

Dennis Brunton's ex-personal Stalker. Highly modified and looks to have been detailed up nicely. Looking for $40k buy it now from Gator Motorsport (somehow apt) in Indianapolis (no gators there?)

The worlds most powerful Superformance S3 - 300hp supercharged zetec. Looking for $41030 This will take a special buyer

Well I saw the photo of this one and thought seven...

Then I looked at the rear and thought life insurance...

http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=11374&stc=1

Yes it is one of the Mills kits. I drove an old Morgan trike once and was less than enthusiastic at its active desire to throw you into the scenery. More hp just means you arrive at the scenery sooner I guess? I think I prefer 4 wheels. Auction has 9 hours to run. Bidding at $10k so far with 12 bids. Located in Houston.

Anyone need a Quicksilver built Zetec? I know MichaelD needs a new gearbox!

http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/cto/5659005961.html

This blue Westfield from the UK has been on this thread before. But I have noticed it gets advertised all over the country in various locations. Equally I notice that someone is always flagging the ads to get them deleted. Hmmmm. It has UK and Florida plates. It is advertised today in FL and ad copy states it is located in Parkland FL. Since I last saw the car it has gained a rear wing. Not just a little rear wing but a big one. Wonderful - just what a cross flow needs....

http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=11375&stc=1

I would recommend a purchaser upgrade that roll bar as the standard westfield one has all the bench strength of a paperclip. And someone tell me what the hell is going on with that steering wheel hub? Go kart tire?

Asking a very reasonable $15k. Purchaser should make sure it comes with complete US import paperwork.

https://miami.craigslist.org/brw/cto/5671072415.html

and advertised in Phoenix too

Totally not a 7 but check out the Lotus 18 for sale in this ad - yum!

Lotus 7 S2 project in a curiously intriguing ad...

http://chicago.craigslist.org/sox/cto/5629463373.html

Believe it or not this is a superformance S1 for sale in TX. I say believe it or not as these are crap photos. Glad the seller told me it was a good-looking car.

Its the right color. Price at $20k sounds quite good. It is located in Lubbock TX which is in the middle of nowhere.

The Lotus 7 S4 with BDR in GM pearl white in Denver CO is here again at $23900.

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/5643318395.html

Lemmings magazine has a bunch of sevens for sale:

A classic Cat at $34900 - On price alone I would buy Bruce Bowker's instead of this dealer one. I bet Bruce's is more immaculate too!

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/caterham/super-7/1843275.html

A non SC V6 Stalker in TX for $22k

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lotus/7/1832388.html

A 1969 Lotus 7 but the photo shown is not the actual car for sale? - be careful folks

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lotus/7/1827972.html

I think this Superformance S1 sold?

http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super-seven/1810916.html

Another enticing ad with no photos and limited description

Classiccars.com:

1966 Lotus 7 - looks good but when you check the dealer website it is not listed for sale nor is on the sold page? $33999

1966 Lotus Super 7

This Super 7 is both street legal and prepared for Vintage Road Racing. We have receipts, photos and other build information from 1986 to current that form a 3” high stack. We have a logbook and several other documents from 1989 showing this car to be serial # SB1881 and it is titled as a 1967 Lotus Seven with that serial number.

In the file there are many photos of the car in race trim and some old race results from previous owners.

At one point this car received a Ford Cosworth YBB 2000cc twin cam engine. This engine has dyno time only since rebuilt by Ivey engines in Portland, OR. The dyno results show the engine makes just over 200 HP. It is has a Quaife 4 speed gearbox, an Accusump, fuel cell, fire suppression and upgraded suspension and brakes. It looks like the car has received some parts or at least some cues from DSK, a company which was known to prepare winning Lotus Super 7’s.

The current owner has not raced the car but just used it for track days at the private race track he belongs to. He has since bought two other race cars and space requires he let this one go.

He has recently spent close to $20,000 preparing the car and has not driven it since. With this power to weight ratio, and the big Hoosiers, this car would be hard to beat at the track and an absolute hoot to drive on the street!
