Oldfart
Speaking of the hard-to-believe category, the Stalker V8 above claims 800 foot lbs of torque. That seems a bit high. Not complaining abt the car, I'd love to have it in my garage, just noting the torque # seems optimistic. If accurate, given the car's light weight, it would seem possible to spin the tires in any gear, making it challenging to drive. I was wondering what seven owners thought of that kind of power, if realistic. I would guess it would take constant concentration to very lightly feather the throttle to control spin at any speed in any gear. It seems hard to believe you could ever tip into the throttle very much. It looks really well done. Edited November 9, 2015 by Oldfart

scannon
My V8 Miata is running the 480/376 engine. It weighs 2,660 lb and has no problem putting the power down. If you floor it in a turn, yes, the back end will come around. The transmission is a Camaro case with a set of Rockland gears rated to handle 1,200 HP and 1,000 torque. It is labeled "Tranzilla". Alaskossie's V8 Miata is running the 525/376 engine. Made my car seem anemic the one time I drove his. The only differences between the three LS3 engines is the camshafts, I suspect there will be a 525 HP cam in my engine someday. slomove
Here is one I found on the Birkinowners list. Not a 500hp monster but I think a very good price for a car with decent power. Set up for Autocross but I suspect it could be retrofitted for road use with limited effort. Disclaimer: I don't know the car and only the name of the owner. Croc
Update for this week New M Class Stalker http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-LOTUS-2-seater-street-legal-race-car-/121817630468?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1c5ce58704:g:CnAAAOSwu-BWPkEi&item=121817630468 1972 Lotus Seven S4 - none for sale for a long time but now a flood of them in recent weeks. This is a nice looking black one in Washington State.\ This is an original 1972 Lotus super seven. It is NOT a replica or a Caterham. This is a genuine Lotus car made in England and in very good original condition. It is a series 4 GT with a ford kent 1600 engine. The metal chassis is in great condition with no rust or damage. The glass-fibre body is also in excellent shape. The car looks to have been originally yellow with a thorough re-spray to black at some point in its life and although the paint has some chips, scratches and touch ups here and there overall it still looks very nice and shiny. The Interior is also in good condition. The seats are nice. carpets are old but in fair condition. The tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure and water temp gauges are all working. The fuel and amp gauges both move but don't seem very accurate. The wipers work (could use new blades). The heater and blower motor work great. The lights are all working. The engine starts very easily and runs great. It idles nice and has good power with great oil pressure. The gearbox shifts perfectly through all gears without any problems. The brakes and clutch work perfect both have all new or rebuilt hydraulic parts . The tyres are in good condition and the alloy wheels are nice (one has a little curb cosmetic damage). It has a new battery. The cooling system works great. The side curtains/doors with sliding plastic windows are in good condition. The vinyl convertible top is decent. It is coming apart a bit at the front where is connects to the windscreen but is still very usable. Overall this car is in very good condition but of course not perfect, Although it runs really well the rings seem a bit weak and it smokes a bit when pushed hard, It could probably use new rings and the cylinders honed although it is quite drivable as is. There is a crack in the fibergalss where the spare wheel attaches. It's hard to spot and would be completely covered by the spare wheel if it was installed. I do not have a spare wheel/tyre for it. There is no air cleaner installed. It would need a very thin one or some creative ducting to fit under the bonnet. It comes with an older but clear California title. It looks to have been last licensed in 1983. This car is perfect for track days, vintage racing or just plain fun. A day and a half to run on auction and bidding at $10550. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Lotus-Super-Seven-/171998356099?forcerrptr=true&hash=item280be6a283:g:35gAAOSwT4lWRmFx&item=171998356099 Dutton B+ roller in Toledo area. Croc
The M Stalker appeared in the recent Texas track photos on this forum. So I bet someone in that group of sevens could put you in touch to have a discussion. Alternatively just approach the seller via his Ebay link. Most sellers will talk to a serious inquirer. But for value - its new, nicely detailed, high spec so there are likely high expectation relative to a brand new price.

Croc
This weeks ads A Locost seven this is a scratch built copy of the famous lotus seven, this car is built with 1" square and round mild steel tubing, all body work is metal other than the hood and nose cone, has a Honda CBR 1000 RR motorcycle motor with 6 sp sequential gearbox, custom driveshaft connecting to a Murker xr4ti rear end, custom suspension all around with fully adjustable shocks,17" rims and performance tires, custom dash using the Honda instrument cluster with 11500 rpm red line, around 1200lbs and 175hp car should do 0-60 in 4 seconds or less with that power to weight ratio, car is unfinished and still needs work, yard drives until the motor suddenly stopped ,please email or call for further details, buyer responsible for applying for title as this is a scratch built vehicle and comes only with parts receipts and bill of sale Looks very interesting. Not sure about the motor stopping - that may or may not be a bad thing - does it turn over? Not registered or titled adds a level of complexity to the equation. Is the Honda CBR the one they call the blackbird engine? 175hp seems a lot from a 1000cc? The SB-1545 is one of the original left-hand drive Series 2 Sevens built by Lotus Components Ltd. It ran as an SCCA racer in the early 70’s (notably F-Prod by Chuck Cotterell and the Royal Auckland Fusiliers in the Ohio region). By the early 1980’s the car ended up at Howard Wests’ Vintage Sports Car Warehouse in Pittsburg. It was purchased by Graham Straub, who had intentions to rebuild it as a bulletproof street machine, with all of the shortcomings of the Series 2 engineered out. The restoration was completed by Red-Line racing in Pittsburg. SB-1545 was the cover car for the 1985 Pittsburg Vintage Grand Prix program. Car runs and drives very well, but it needs repair to small leak in radiator, and bushings in shift linkage need to be replaced. The speedometer is inoperable (and as such, mileage listed is not correct. It is there only because eBay requires it). Over 30 years worth of records and receipts are included. Chassis #: SB1545 (original plate) Gotti racing wheels Nicely proportioned roll bar, which is welded to chassis Fuel cell Chassis reinforced, 14 additional tubes and plates added Original vintage TR-10 rear axle housing (beautifully braced and reinforced) Fitted with beefier TR-7 internals Spax shock absorbers with adjustable spring platforms Steel braided hydraulic lines Later Ford/Holbay crossflow motor 40 DCOE Weber carburetors Semi closed ratio gearbox Shift light Racing oil pan with external pickup 11″ rear fenders Alternator Master switch Original windshield, convertible top, and side curtains included Vintage Brooklands windscreen http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-/252178800759?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3ab7072077:g:QawAAOSwAYtWOld2&item=252178800759 Now this next one is cool. 1961 Hoyt Special Similar in concept to a Lotus Seven, Albert Hoyt built this Special in 1961 and competed in F-Modified with the SCCA at such tracks as Elkhart Lake, Mid America and the occasional USAF air base in the early sixties. He designed and scratch built the tube frame then hand made the all aluminum body from an aircraft drop tank. Being a fighter pilot Al had easy access to such items. The engine/transmission, complete drive train, suspension and brakes were from a donor 1961 Volvo 544. Even the speedometer was used. The donor car was basically brand new with 250 miles on it. Al's son Mike who can be seen in some of the early photos confirmed that the 8100 miles showing now is the actual on the drive train. The differential is a limited slip unit. Among Al's other exploits were runs with other cars at Bonneville and El Mirage. He still keeps busy by assisting in the restoration of vintage aircraft. We have spent over 200 hours in our workshop going through the Hoyt Special to assure that it is in turn-key condition for the next owner. All of the systems that typically need work after a long slumber have been reconditioned including but not limited to, brakes, fuel, cooling, tires, etc. This car should gain you entrance to any top vintage/historical venue. It is also street legal and registered in California. http://assets.hemmings.com/uimage/53595646-770-0@2x.jpg?rev=1 Asking $50k http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/7/1791550.html Sevenesque - The end result of cross breeding a Cobra replica with a Prowler and a Lotus 7 - a Diva Roadster for $20k http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/5335202917.html A Dutton B+ (think Lotus 7 S4). The Seven Series IV (or 4) is the last genuine made by Lotus generation of the 7. They were all sold as kits, and this example came with the Lotus Twin-Cam engine and the VIN is LS42946TC. Body casting number is 343 and bonnet is 347, of about 700 made. While not as rare as the Series 1 nor maybe the Series 3, the S-IV is way more rare than the series 2 and more real and rare than a Caterham or any of the other pseudo-sevens. See Hagerty's at model history at https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vbe=2212. I call her "the BIG one" because the S-IV was longer and wider than were its predecessors. I am 6'1" and do not fit in the S2/S3 cars. However I do fit the S-I V and can look through the windscreen rather than having my line-of-sight blocked by the top of the windscreen frame. There is more leg and foot room too! See a design analysis at https://cnx.org/contents/1f51a8b5-b1ab-400a-8361-a824cb3650ae@9/Design-Analysis-of-the-Lotus-S. The US S-IV kits came with either the ubiquitous 1600 Ford pushrod crossflow or less commonly the famous Lotus Twin-Cam as in this one. Body off reconditioned, with many new and re-built parts. Many additions for the track, such as safety equipment and a dry-sump oil system. Ready for café runs or to Pete's for coffee, AND for Laguna Seca or any other track. The kits were ~$4,500 new in 1971/2. According to the US department of labor, the 2015 equivalent of $4500 is $27,596.71. At that Hegerty link above you'll see their opinion that the average value is $16,060. This one has wear and tear for sure, but also many improvements, especially for track use.
