Croc
Well that makes sense. It is our good friend Graham who is also on this forum and has a well set up and very quick Honda Locost. Sadly I won’t be posting tomorrow as I just do not have internet signal to get the search results processed. So I will have a nice relaxed breakfast bobbing around the North Sea. BMW RACER
Since Croc is out on the North Sea (jealous) This just popped up on Fleabay. Interested to hear what you'all think. Did Caterham make a '67? Windshield looks odd. Am I the only person who thinks that's Derek Bell? https://www.ebay.com/itm/283575508222?ul_noapp=true
Croc
I think it means he has an early Caterham (correct - look at chassis restoration photo) that is titled as a 1967 Lotus in his state. Graham Nearn did not buy the rights off Lotus to manufacture the seven until 1973
JackMcCornack
I think you posted this on the wrong forum. To find a buyer, this belongs on the LocostUSA forum. Slap an old VW front end (air cooled Beetle) under it and call it done.Ouch. Is that vehicle insufficiently pursang for USA7s? Points, though, for referencing LocostUSA without saying "those people". I agree that it's posted on the wrong forum, mostly because it's £4,500.00 (about $5250 'murrican money) and it's on the wrong side of the pond. It probably would do better in a forum with "UK" in its name than "USA". And as it's only 3/4 of a Se7en, perhaps would have a place for it. Croc
Yes PanAmericano was a little harsh there. I have always enjoyed the company of Locost owners. I would not afflict that Reliant Robin beast on them. Mind you, you have to watch out for Westfield owners - they sneak up on you when you are not watching and some of them even like Porsha Boxsters. panamericano
Well, I don't know what one can say about the Robin, except to make fun of it. No intention of snobbing the Locost side. I tried to buy 2 home-builts before I found my bargain basement Birkin.
panamericano
Since Croc is out of range, here is one from LocostUSA. Apparently the ebay sale ends today, so hurry https://www.ebay.com/itm/133133975133

The base of the mount should be parallel with the join line of the scuttle and tub. And yes, that certainly looks like Derek Bell. I seem to recall he is involved with a car dealership in Florida where that car is located. -John
georgedodson
It looks like the front mounting bolt is too low. Re-drilling the mount properly would leave a visible hole.

Kitcat
Will someone please buy the MK Indy and bring it to the next NJMP se7ens event so we can see how it does on the track:)? Specs, on paper, are impressive. Croc: The newly listed '94 Caterham has a Vauxhall engine. As I recall, these were comparable to high end Zetecs (or better), powerwise? Croc
Croc: The newly listed '94 Caterham has a Vauxhall engine. As I recall, these were comparable to high end Zetecs (or better), powerwise? YEs and no. The base spec was comparable to a base Zetec. However, thanks to the superior breathing of the Vauxhall, it could produce big hp - think 250-280hp with work and good strong builds. A Zetec cannot do that (for long anyway). However, unlike the Zetec, the Vauxhall weighed more than a few elephants....

Bruce K
Hello, group. I promised I would be back. The Alfa Romeo 4C has been terrific. An article I wrote about the complete upgrade project is scheduled for publication later this year in "Alfa Owner", the national owners' mag. The car is now up to a dyno'ed 312 hp (full Eurocompulsion Stage II tune), but I won't stop until at least 349 (Stage III) - and then there is the delightful possibility of going 2 liter! Anyway, I always admired Croc's work on concatenating the national ads for Sevens, and now I find myself consulting his list, looking for another Seven. I'd began my search, and found several over the span of a couple weeks, but Croc's list about octuples mine. Great work, Croc! My beloved Honda-blue WCM S2K was producing 243 hp on the day the carrier arrived to spirit her away, and I'll require similar performance as my starting point. Any special leads, anoint me. I still have on file my final edition of the "S2K & Other Sevens Maintenance & Upgrade Manual". Has anyone updated it? If I buy another Seven, I will resurrect the manual and offer it online again. Hope to converse with everyone again soon!
Croc
...octuples... I have always thought octuples were cute little critters. :jester: More hp than 243? I like your style Bruce! There are only 2 options in the current list that qualify - the Stalkers or the Hayabusa. There have not been a lot of high hp Caterhams or Birkins lately and I have not seen an ultralite come up for sale in quite a while. Bruce K
Hi, Croc. There is a WCM for sale in the USA7s forum, in the cars-for-sale section, in case anybody is interested. My wife does not fit into the WCM S2K passenger-side child seat, so I will be looking for a Caterham SV or Birkin SX, maybe a Brunton. Dick Brink, who is a Birkin dealer and has a long racing history, can mod up a Birkin with Rotax supercharger (300 hp from the stock motor with good longevity), 9" front and 10" rear rubber, sequential transmission (can be ordered with paddle shift) and more. Dick states that he has been adding superchargers and racing them for years, with great results - does anybody have any input on overall reliability, heat saturation after a few hard laps and so on??? Also (from your list above), the very pretty Caterham 480 offered by kbaker@vintageracecarsales.com has just received fresh detailing for an auto show. The asking price, which is not included in the ad, is $49,000. Not sure if it is an SV or not.
