  2. I did a track day on Monday at LRP and had my first real issue with the Caterham. I was tracking out onto the main straight after the downhill and ran onto the curbing/rumble strips on the left side, when my LF cycle wing decided to take flight and the car lost power. I'm sure I was confused with both issues happening at the same time, but it didn't occur to me that it could be the inertia switch until I was towed back into the pits. To be fair I stayed on the curbing longer than necessary, but I was surprised that it tripped the inertia switch. A couple questions. 1: Has anybody else had an issue with the inertia switch being tripped when on track? 2: Has anybody moved the inertia switch to the inside of the firewall where it could be reset from the driver's seat?
  3. Mike, does this mean you are "Cat-less" (operational in US)? How does that work? Cheers! Steve

  5. Still Available! ROLL BAR KIT S3 TRACKDAY METRIC CHASSIS Lower 48 only, pickup / possible delivery. Cheers! Steve
  6. I don't understand your question. The CSR has a curved filler hose like other Catherham cars. Therefore, the filler neck is not vertical, like a those in a TR4 or a Europa are. What I hear IamScotticus suggesting is removing the standard curved filler hose. I have not had the filler neck off of my CSR, but I have had the filler hose off of other Caterham cars. With these cars (and perhaps with the CSR also) it seems simple to "go vertical" with the hardware already at hand. What I have done in the past: Remove metal cover over filler hose. Remove filler cap from outside of the car; it is essentially only held on by the curved filler hose. Remove filler hose. I have done all that on other cars to take out the boot floor. At this juncture, one could continue on with the IamScotticus mod to go vertical: Procure a short piece of straight filler hose the same diameter as the stock curved hose. Shove it onto the tank. Drop on the two clamps from the stock curved hose. Push in the stock cap assembly. Presumably, you have cut the hose to the correct length to allow the hard bits to butt together. Tighten clamps. What you wind up with is a filler cap inside the boot. When you put on the boot cover, the cap will not be visible. I never considered this with my other Caterham cars because these cars have full hoods, and the idea of having a gas cap inside what is essentially a passenger compartment seems like a bad idea. Remember those cars started out with carbs and had vented caps. On a car that never has a hood, maybe this is an OK idea. Make sure you always have a towel to catch the drips when you remove the gas-station nozzle. It would not do to drip gasoline on the carpet back there. Perhaps a louvered vent could be fashioned to fill the hole left in the back of the car. Louvers would help keep out the rain whilst allowing ventilation in the boot. I realize that fuel cells are often used this way, but that's another kettle of fish altogether.
  7. We plan to have it on-track in July for testing. Cheers, -Bruce
  8. Josh is a great guy, you're in good hands. The wait is PAINFUL tho -- but at least you're not getting the COVID edition
  9. Welcome! I ordered in early Dec from Josh and mine is done but sitting waiting on a container. You’re going to have a lot of fun!!
  10. Josh thought Oct build slot and maybe delivery by the of year. But I think I’m still waiting for confirmation on the time frame. I’m hoping I can then get it built and registered by the end of spring, but I guess we’ll see. Maybe by mid-summer I have a half-built car I’ve given up on. 🙃
  11. Yesterday
  12. Welcome.... I bought an older model sight unseen.... liked it so much I bought another one...an r400. Fantastic cars for driving as it should be. Josh is a straight shooter btw.... we've dealt professionally over a few things. He set my r400 up for the street. What kind of time frame is it for a new build?
  13. Hello. New member from St Louis, MO. I just ordered a 420R SV from Josh at RMC. I drove out to meet Josh and test fit cars and seats yesterday. It was the first time I had seen one of these cars in person.
  14. I think you need to give this some more thought. How would you make it “vertical” any more than it is already?
  15. @BruceBe any comments re KatKong?
  16. My money is on Croc’s new CSR Superlight
  17. I've mentioned my intentions elsewhere, but I suppose the question can be put here... Can the filler be adapted to a vertical neck just under the boot cover? I suppose all the return and vent lines can be incorporated into a vertical solution?
  18. This is fun as you're acknowledging the crowd of admirers oogling you

  20. This happens all over , especially on the wiring connections. Unavoidable. Only thing to do replace the fluids and rubber hoses and inspect the parts regularly, like every three years. Not every 20 years. Its those 20 years guys that have the big problems. The best solution foe galvanic issues is to use a battery disconnect. Also ensure grounds are cleaned annually. Ensure the engine head is grounded. Many things corrode because there is insufficient grounding elsewhere.
  21. Thanks. I was originally thinking of using one of these types of brass fittings but began wondering if galvanic corrosion between aluminum and copper content in the brass might be a concern, at least over the long term. However, since the temperature sensor "submarine" is brass, as is the fitting for the heater, maybe the addition of one more brass components wouldn't matter. The Gates T-piece has only one barb on each of the arms, so the pex version's additional and probably stronger barbs would be an advantage, as you note.
  22. LOL. On my first 7, a 1600 Caterham with dry sump and live axle, I installed a Quaife LSD and 4.11 gears. Didn't touch the speedo. I'd be cruising down the highway at an indicated 90mph being passed by soccer moms in their minivans.
  23. ah... What is SOLD???
  24. The driver’s side was fairly easy to fit due to the drivetrain offset toward the passenger. I sat for 10 minutes and found the B9 to be very comfortable. The ultra shields had miscellaneous throw pillows and stadium seat pads under the vinyl covers to make them tolerable. I’d say this is an improvement. The carbon back is quite showy.
  25. I founded a pair of Tillett B9 on Facebook marketplace for a price too good to pass up. These are the edges off versions at 43 cm wide. I’ve confirmed the chair will fit on the narrow passenger side, but I will have to figure out how to bolt it to the chassis.
  26. What a plethora of 7’s. Whatever you want there seems to be a colour, type and price range for anyone interested in owning a se7en right now. I’m surprised that Birkin https://www.facebook.com/share/17rfoY4Lva/ has been up for nearly a year and no takers. I have to wonder how long it took to build if it’s a 2001 kit but only has 500 miles on it. Still it’s the IRS version with a Dunnel Z-Tech which the seller claims is making 215hp.
  27. So the car is now 20 years old and it’s showing its age. On top of that, I’d like to make some changes to suit my use and taste. My initial thoughts are to de-sticker, de-chrome, and de-brown. Baseline image - as received.
  28. Hope this answers the question - let me know.
