  1. Thanks, it's good to hear that some Caterhams are being moved, hopefully there will be many more. Any idea on which models were purchased?
  2. I understand your point, but no implications were intended. The lack of forum awareness of sales may or may not be a bad thing, but I doubt anyone could consider it as good, especially in light of the recent Caterham publicity and marketing in the US. And to me that was interesting, sorry if it wasn't to others.
  3. Not a game, just curious as stated. Without doubting your methodology or accuracy, how did you arrive at your 10% determination? There are 2860 members here, of which 498 are considered active. So, you could be right. Or not.
  4. Wow, for reading very little into my statement, you sure read a lot into a post that was intended as a pretty basic question. I was just curious (see thread title) if anyone was aware of any Caterham sales by Superformance and their experience. And then thought it was interesting that no one knew of any, especially since there are now a few dealers on the forum. I wasn't asking for a poll on the % of 7 owners on this forum, not a request for a weather report (which was quite nice at the large Superformance display at Barrett-Jackson), and not asking for an opinion of my post's relevance (most posts on most forums have questionable relevance, this is for fun).
  5. Kind of interesting that no one on a 7 forum is aware of any Caterham sales since the first of the year. Not sure what that really means, but cannot be considered a good thing for Superformance. Hope this improves for them.
  6. I have had mine for 18 months and have about 14,000 milles. I love the car and the prices dropped by $5000 this year (thanks a lot GM for messing up my resale value). It acts like a real car and driving it you would not know it is primarily electric. When the gas engine (actually a gnerator to the electric motor) kicks in it is close to invisible and will take you another 250-300 miles. I usually get about 35 miles per charge, with my lowest being 25 and highest 51. It varies by outside temprature, with the batteries happiest at 60-75 degrees. I am averaging over 300mpg, but would be better if my daughter did not take it on a 250 mile trip. I will go months between gas station visits. I was surprised how many of my trips are less than 30 miles round trip. There are also a fair amount of free or cheap public charging locations and phone apps to find them. A full recharge takes under four hours from a 240v charger. PM me if you would like further info.
  7. This site http://www.searchtempest.com/ may help you out. It checks Craigslist posts within whatever distance radius you specify. May also want to look in http://www.racingjunk.com/search and http://www.icscc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?10-Buy-amp-Sell . Good luck with the search and be ready to pounce.
  8. Sorry for upping the ante a little bit more. I was kind of surprised that wife liked it and was okay with the budget bust. Good luck.
  9. Pretty sure that EVO is a British car magazine. Seller may be referring to these and several others that are similar: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/motoring/ultima-gtr-smashes-0-100-0-world-record http://www.supercars.net/PitLane?viewThread=y&gID=3&fID=0&tID=11724 http://www.stevecarter.com/R500/R500main.htm . Speaking of possible BS, apparently different Porsche testers must get very different results, but Wikipedia shows the fastest stock 930 at 11.6 to 100: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_930 and Supercarworld slightly slower: http://www.supercarworld.com/cgi-bin/showgeneral.cgi?034
  10. After spending much time reading this thread, I took the plunge and bought a slightly used trailer. Probably a little overkill for my needs, but it was far too nice to resist. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/c5dawg/IMG_20140312_105637_437_zps614f719a.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/c5dawg/IMG_20140312_171224_308_zpsf46d6d6c.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/c5dawg/IMG_20140312_105821_735_zps318384e3.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y44/c5dawg/IMG_20140312_171125_762_zps27fcc9c2.jpg
  11. Is anyone aware of new Caterham purchases by actual consumers since Superformance became the new US distributor? I don't recall anyone on this forum saying they had bought one yet. Just curious to see if there are early results from the changeover and wondering if/how the experience may differ from before.
  12. I must admit that I do have a Caterham jacket. It can be a definite conversation starter with that rare person who knows what it is.
  13. Having had a 'Vette for 8 years prior to my Caterham, I can honestly say that just because a certain behavior is a stereotype, it doesn't mean the stereotype is wrong. There were lots of very nice Corvette owners, many who drove their cars quite aggressively. There were plenty more guys, well in or past middle age, who made the purchase just to cross one more item off their bucket list. They could generally be recognized by: 1) Content to drive in the far right lane, getting passed by Camrys, Priuses, and whatever else was on the road; 2) The passenger seat occupied by an understanding wife who was usually knitting something for a grandkid; 3) Excitement over the new chrome exhaust, wheels, or emblem that adds nothing to the performance of the car; 4) An appreciation for power adjustable side bolsters that would go extra wide, or the driver would never come close to fitting in the seat; 5) Caravanning to a club event at a speed slow enough that all cars can stay in a single line without leaving anyone behind (can't risk someone using the gas pedal to catch up).
  14. Somehow I was expecting the jars of mayo to float away with the bottles of ketchup and eventually come ashore in the atoll known as the Thousand Islands. There the natives mixed them together into a new salad dressing known as ... Ironic that it is particularly good on Iceberg lettuce.
  15. Check out the moto-snow-atv section for a little bit more 7 sized trailer.
  16. Those look beautiful, maybe the overall winner in the trailer sweepstakes. Any idea how their prices compare to more ordinary trailers?
  17. Corvette drivers like most any beer. Porsche owners are only interested in whine.
  18. Yes, but not on 7. I believe they have a special model for collector type cars that are not started as much.
  19. Some the favorite cars that I have owned had the least amenities, just simple and pure vehicles. That is one of the primary reasons I got a 7, not much else out there this basic and fun. And incredibly fast, that's quite important too.
  20. I was in Milwaukee two weeks ago for five days and had a 48 degree temp swing. And it was still below freezing (-18 up to +30).
  21. 57, but not for too much longer. Have always loved fast cars, preferring function over form. In high school and college had a 340 Dodge Dart. Nine years later, my first extra car was a one owner '68 Dodge GTS (Dart body) with a factory 383 and 4spd. Had that for 17 years until I finally admitted that muscle cars were very fast for their time. As time progressed, and cars improved, it had about the same 0-60 as a Honda Accord. In 2004, sold the GTS back to the original owner and bought a new Corvette. A great car, but old Autoweek and Car&Driver reviews of Caterhams were always in the back of my mind. In 2011, wife reminded me that I was not getting younger each year and if I didn't buy a Caterham now, when would I? Sold the 'vette and ordered the CSR which was in my driveway exactly one year after my wife's approval to get it. As a thank you, the car is in her favorite colors: dark purple with a light gold stripe. Wife and Caterham are both keepers.
  22. The resulting divorce would be even more costly than that trailer.
  23. And headlights whose candlepower is a real measurement of the flames they produce.
  24. I was lucky enough to spend a day there several years ago (with a friend who had museum delivery of his ZO6). The best part may have been during the pre-drive info when the factory rep said that in the break-in period, we should not drive over 135mph. A very cool place run by people who love cars.
