Passing on the inside or the outside?
MHKflyer52 replied to twobone's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Either way the Lotus driver has a big set of stones especially if trying to pass on the inside like that....the 73 RSR 911 looks as if the driver is getting ready to close the door on the pass by moving to the left and squeezing the 7 out of position....wounder if the 7's rear wheel rubbed on the curbing as it looks like it would be very close. -
So what ever happened to Frankn7

I know the feeling. I have had very little time to work on any of my cars let alone just get out and have some fun. Keep at it and before you know it it will be done. -
There are a host of vehicles that meet those requirements. As a convertible your talking two door I would guess. So here is what I would go for with that budget in mind and I am a cheap-skate so take it with a grain of salt and a smile. New cars cheapest to most expensive: Smart, Fiat 500c, Mazda Miata, BMW Mini S, VW Beetle, Ford Mustang, Eclipse Spyder, Chevrolet Camaro, VW Eos, BMW 128. I personally have a Mazda Miata and bang for the buck it is my choice for a daily commuter that is economical and can be fun to drive and the most important thing about it is my wife even likes it when she gets to drive it. Now if you go into the used and dealer approved cars their are a lot of two or three year old vehicles that new would be out of that budget but well within the 35K budget you have set and they include cars like the BMW Z4, the Porsche Boxster, the MB CLK and SLK Class, Jaguar, Cadillac SRX and many more. You can always purchase an extended warranty when buying a dealer certified vehicle and you will be able to get a lot more for your money but that is just my thoughts.

Wow both rzempel and jlumba81 I tip my hat to the both of you as I am good for about two hours in my car and then I have to get out and streach and let my body relax as my seats are comfortable for that period of time but the ride and wind is what also tires me out and besides my 5gallon gas tank is only good for about 175 miles of very conservitive driving and we all know how hard that can be in a 7 besides my bladder needs to be relived after about two hours depending on how much liquid I have had before the drive.....must be my age.....

One solution would be to have it welded up or you could go to this site and use their product to do it yourself as this dose work and is fairly easy to do. I usually do not recommend to many thing but this dose work especially with aluminum parts. Here is the link: http://www.muggyweld.com/?view=aluminum -
Ford Crossflow to BDR Conversion

That is very cool but you can buy a lot of used ZX3 motors for that kind of money I do believe especially with all of the wrecked Ford Focus's that are out their and one would not have to wait for parts from Europe if a spare was needed and besides you would still need to rebuild the bottom end I would think. Just my belief. -
Looking forward to see you and your 7. See you at the autocross.....:cooldude:

Not a Westfield but a Clone 7 (AKA Locost) with Spax adjustable shocks with 300lb springs on the front and 250lb springs on the rear. As you can see in this photo I also have the lower A-arm just slightly downward and yes the right wheel is sitting in a slight depression so it looks as if it is lower than the left but when on a level surface they are the same. My suspension dose not move all that much so it is a ruff ride on most public streets mainly do to the stiffness of the springs that I have I do believe. Hope this helps.

Wow....One of the first corners even has a shrine and cross on it as it looks like the little wall would not stop much at any speed over a crawl and if you hit the inside of the curve it is just a rock outcrop....great views I have to admit....here in the USA Google removes the people from their street views as much as they can so seeing people along the side of the road is neet. Thanks for posting the link and keep the oily side down and the curb rash to a minimum on those runs...:auto:

Just a bump to remind anyone who is considering this autocross its 16 days away.

Well congrats on the new to you Birkin. Their are a number of folks on the forum that have the knowledge and information you are looking for and they will post answers for you. One that I would try to talk to is Slomove as he has done a lot of mapping of ECU's to my knowledge. Have fun and enjoy your 7.

Skip, That is great :hurray: and I also wish to do the same if it were possible. Would make life very interesting to say the least.

Southern California, State Farm on all nine vehicles with agreed value on the 7, Porsche and MG. They also insure our properties. Only restrictions are on the 7 an Porsche and MG if going out of state I have to notify the local agent when and how long and no coverage for any track use on any my vehicles which seems to be about standard.

Getting in touch with my feminine side

Stan, Looks like you found a good one with a hardtop and rollbar installed. I sometimes wish I had a hardtop for mine and have been looking for one if I can find one at the correct price. I have been toying with putting in a rollbar but am not ready for the cutting of the interior pannels as of yet so it is also something I will do in the future. -
Here is a quick lay out of a single screw jack mounted to a seat to lift the driver up to aid in exiting and entering. I had looked at building this before I had my left shoulder rebuilt two years ago. And yes I do know the frustration of getting into a 7 and not being able to get out with out assistance. I was going to use a headlamp drive motor from a Miata as they are made to run both directions and you can adjust the run time or control it with a switch plus they have a lot of torque for their size.

A dozen cans of spray paint applied liberally to all that carbon fiber....:smilielol5:....you asked.

Well the Porsche Club of America Santa Barbara Region is putting on another autocross as a charity fund raiser for Habitat for Humanity on Saturday, October 29, 2011 so if your want to drive and see just how well you can drive your car this will be a good time to do so in a safe environment for a good cause. Here is a link to the web site where you can click on the link and down load the registration form or you can contact me and I will e-mail you a PDF of the form. http://pcasb.org/calendar/default.html All makes of autos are allowed so you do not have to own a Porsche or be a club member to come out and have fun.
