Here is a clip that one of the participants posted of the autocross we held yesterday (Sept 17, 2011) at the Camarillo Airport. He was driving a 1963 Austin Mini and all his official times were within 0.119 sec of each other. FTD was 65.554 sec and Slowest time was 105.155 with an average time during the day of 72.646 sec clean so his time is very respectable for a car with only 74 to 75 HP competing with other cars that have up to 6 times the HP stock. Is there a 'cheap' replacement for a live rear axle?
MHKflyer52 replied to No_6's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Hi Terry, You might want to provide a little more information such as wheel bolt pattern size and distance from the hub face to face and mounting point dimensions (from center of assy) or a photo of the rear member with dimensions over laid onto it as there are a number of different configurations that could fit I would think. Do you know what the rear member was originally used in or what it was for besides a 7 as most of the parts used on these cars have other applications of use. As an example I have a modified rear end out of an MGB GT that I adapted to my clone 7. Hope this helps. -
Try a local sign shop as they have all types of plastic film that has adheasive for signs and they can even cut it for you to fit or try McMaster Carr.

Nice article.

Now after looking at it closer it sure could be an outline of the Nurburgring. Australia has the island of Tasmania on the right side bottom an that has what ever on the wrong side so I will have to agree.

Westy Turbo, Nice looking 7 and I take it your Australia from the decal on the boot. Post up some other photos if you would as everyone likes to see what others have built and it gives a lot of us good ideas for our cars.

Best advice you will ever recive when looking to buy a 7 of any type and have fun while looking as their are a lot of them out their you just have to find the one that makes your day and that you just have to have.

Someone is going to get a great deal with this 7 as everyone that I have ever heard speak about it has always said that it is a very well maintained car and faster than they expected and well sorted. Good luck with the sale Mike.

Why not make a simple license plate bracket that would mount to the radiator frame or even mount to the radiator like some of the electric fans are mounted with the wire push through connectors but would extend out the grill area and be mounted so it is low on the nose cone to not block the air flow to the radiator. Here is a very rough sketch of a mount so you can have an idea of what I am saying. Hank, Your correct. I miss read and miss understood what you were saying and I do agree. I missread the part where you said it dosn't work that well if it is next to the compressor and in my hast to give you greef about Miata's I miss spoke. Now the question comes to mind you must want a Miata as you have some good pictures of turbo setups.....Big Smile....

The MGB that had the cameras mounted on it is really sweet as it is supercharged and has a number of other mods that make it fairly fast and the owner can sure drive it well. I was following him for a lot of these two clips that he posted up on You-Tube and I can say he stayed in his lane even in the tightest turns. Listen and you can hear the tires on the MGB talking in the viedo. Here is what it looks like from the front camera that was mounted on the MGB. -
Looks good Ingmar. It has come a long way. Hank, Looks like the throttle body is on the passenger side of the engine (1.8ltr Miata) (Miata owners know these things....LOL....) and the photo of the blow-off valve (BOV) is on the drivers side of the engine which give it lots of room between the TB and the BOV which shuold not be for the best operation. Should have said Hank is correct as I do not know what I was thinking or typing just trying to give Hank greef about Miata's.

Hi Michael D, I have been following your thread and you might want to remove the inertia switch from the equation by just making a jumper wire that will plug into the wires from the switch and then drive the car and see if it is the cause. The initeria switch is usually a switch that that will only open if the vehicle exceeds something like 5G (very sudden impact) or turns over and then it kills the power to the ECU which shuts down the system. I don't know what type of setup you have with your electrical system but I would start looking at any components that have been modified to be used in your car such as the wire harness as if it has been shortened you could have an intermittent connection that once the vehicle heats up could cause it to create an open or that the normal vibration or motion of the engine of the vehicle could also cause the problem but I do not think this is your problem from what I have read in your post. I would look at the ignition system for the problem and could be as simple as a bad ballast resister or even a bad coil or coil pack. If you have someone close to where your located that has the same setup you could swap parts and see if it solves the problem. Hope these thoughts help and I will continue to follow this thread to see what you find is the problem and so that I learn from your trouble shooting of the problem. Do you have an electrical tach if so you could have a bad one as I do know of one situation where the tach would kill the iginition as an adjustable rev limiter but that was on a training vehicle that limited the number of RPMs that one could use while learning to drive a race car and kept students out of trouble

Well today I took the 7 out for a nice drive with a bunch of like minded friends and came across an old friend of mine and his car which Al will know...Orange is looking good and is supporting a windshield less look now and is being driven and enjoyed by the present owner "Morgan" and is in good hands. Orange's friend (fast company). The group at the start woundering if the sky was going to clear up. Top of Mulholland Drive were we spotted Orange and fast friend. By the end of the day the sun had come out and it was another great day in Southern California as usual. Hope eveyone had a good day.:driving:

No real benifit but a lot less leg work when rowing the gears at least for me. My cluch has just over 4k on it and works very well....now that I have said that it will most likely go out the next time I drive the car. The car only has 7648 miles on it and this is its second cluch as when I pulled the engine two years ago to replace the crushed oil pan I did a freshen up on it (the engine) and I figured that since I had the engine out I would just replace the pressure plate and clutch plate while it was apart along with the throw out bearing. The original clutch and pressure plate did not look bad or worn very much but a new one was just cheap insurance at the time and it gave me a spare but I dought that I will use it as they are not that expensive to just put a new one into the car when the engine and trans are out of it.

Onken, Maybe you should get one of these for your girlfriend so she dose not snap her neck when she rides in your car. http://www.saferacer.com/g-force-helmet-support-neck-brace-sfi.html?productid=903 The word aches is a good word and means soreness just so you know.

Hi Mike, Question for you and the way your clutch is setup. Dose the clutch inguage and release completely at mid point or do you have to push the peddle to the stop to have full disengagement of the clutch from a dead stop? My clutch is set so that once the car is moving all I have to do is push the clutch peddle about an inch and I can shift gears without any issues but from a dead stop and out of gear I have to push the peddle to the stop to engauge the transmition into first gear.

Hi Tom, All I can say is that is a lot of groomed sand. I can remember the tied sometimes coming up close to the boardwalk even when there was no storm..

Jay Leno has something like that and every once in a while he drives it to the different events but it is modern in terms of age. Here is a link to it. http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/photos/blastolenes-pissd-off-pete/3777/#item=87280 -
Hi Tom, That is good. Plugging some screw holes with calking gives you a good excuse to spend some time there and enjoy the beach. As a kid my Grand Parents owned several places in Wildwood and Wildwood Crest and I can remember spending many summers playing on the beach and riding my bike on the boardwalk in the morning as a kid. I also remember Hurricane Donna when it passed by on Sept 11th 1960 (two days before my b-day) as my father and grandfather and I watched one of the beach homes my grandfather owned that was on the beach front wash out to sea and the surf wash under the boardwalk and down the street as we were staying in Wildwood when Donna passed by on its way north. Our house was on E20th Ave midway between Atlantic Ave and Surf Ave in Wildwood as that is where my parents had a summer residents at the time. Things have change since then I suspect as it has been 43yrs since I was their last when I helped move my grandmothers stuff from her house so I do not even know if the house my folks had is still there. Oh well life goes on and storms come and go and things change is all I know so enjoy your beach property which has a great view from the photo you posted.
