Now that is funny....Caterham is Mazda powered....I was thinking a Mazda two shoe powered 7..... definitely and upgrade is on the way from the sounds of it but I would bet you still had a big smile on your face while providing the power. Mazda post some photos of the your rebuild if you would for all of us that do not have the ambition or time for that type of challenge.

Why not put a 49cc three speed automatic from one of the little pocket bikes in it. A friend mounted one on a go cart and it moves very good or you could put a PRD 125cc TaG Engine or Comet engine in it as they would make it very very fast and are small and light weight. Here is a link to a good site for these engines. http://www.cometkartsales.com/store/engine/2cycengn.htm

I've done one of these, but never this big - mountain slide ride
MHKflyer52 replied to twobone's topic in Off Topic
There use to be one some what similar at base of Mt. Hood in Oregon at one of the lower ski parks. The difference is it is like half pipe with walls to keep you from flying out of the tube on the turns and you ride what is like a wide skate board with a seat and handle bar to hold onto that when you pull back on the handle bar it actuates a drag brake to slow you down. It was built like the water park slides without the water and fast. Have to admit I could not make a run with out applying some brake before some of the turns and even with that I was told to slow down several times by the operators. This was back around 15 yrs ago when I lived in that part of the country. -
My vote and belief is the same as your first point. Slomove (Gert) has made small mud / stone flaps for the front fenders of his 7 to help reduce the dirt and stuff that gets flung off the front tires and causes the chips and scratches on the rear fenders and side panels with some good success. Maybe he will read this and post a photo or two of his solution to this very common issue.

:iagree: Now that is funny......

Well I think I am going to sell my 7 Replica

Just a bump as it is still for sale and available if anyone might be interested. Sure would make a nice X-mass present..... -
Will it start with a booster box or jumper cables attached to the battery? Try swapping the battery? Will it bump start? Sounds like the battery is toast even though it reads 12v+.

Make sure you use an enclosed carrier so your car stays out of the weather and it keeps lookers from messing with it when the truck is stopped and as someone else has said make sure they have a current DOT number. My close friend that restores cars uses this company and has never had a problem with them. http://www.intercitylines.com/

Very cool Gert. So what did the Honda have in it for a power plant......sure not stock.....

That is a good one.....even my wife laughed and said the Hazards are true.

I can tell you this on my car the tip is at a 45 degree angle to the ground deflecting away from the car body and when it was off it was much louder both inside and outside of the car but that is only what I have experienced. I guess it also depends where your standing in relationship to the exhaust. I still wear foam ear plugs for the wind buffet and the noise..... :driving:

mca, Here is a link to a very good cage builder in the Southern California area and he knows about 7's and their different styles as he owns one. http://www.blackbirdfabworx.com/ Hope this helps. -
If you cut your exhaust pipe in front of the rear tire and put a turn down on the end of the pipe you can reduce some of the exhaust note by turning it so the end of the turn down is facing the ground and wear ear foam ear plugs helps a lot I find. Only drawback is the exhaust dose kick up a lot of dust.

That is very COOL and creative. :cooldude:

Just added a video of the course from a friends VW Rabbit so you can see what it looked like.

Well we had a great turn out for the charity autocross for Habitat 4 Humanity with 48 cars participating, gerat weather (clear and sunny with a light breeze). We also had four Lotus 7's show up and run the event, sorry that I was only able to get three of them in a row and take a photo with my phone so the quality is not all that good but as the event orgainizer and chair I was just a little busy during the day. One of our forum member twinpipe was present and he had the second fastest time of the day with a 54.721 and he wass having fuel starvation issues with his Turbo Miata Powered 7 otherwise I feel he would of had the fastest time of the day which was 54.020 for the .73 mile centerline length course. OK here are my phone photos: Twinpipe crossing the finish on his best time. Three of the four 7's in a row. A view of the weather and event area. My friend and his VW Rabbit at the Autocross. Surprised to see they had what looks like a helmet bag in the passenger foot well at the beginning of the run. Most groups require the passenger compartment to be empty of objects like that because they can become a distraction if they come loose. I do like the aircraft style of battery jumper connection. Wonder if the car even has a battery or is using a magneto setup like and airplane and some racecars.

Well you would of had a good time and you sure could have driven my car. We had four sevens show up and twinpipe came down from south of the Bay area to play and several others showed up. Lining up at the start with a Super Connie Marine in the background. Twinpipe coming across the finish line (Ingmar) Best time in his run group with a 54.721 run over .73 of a mile (3786ft long centerline distance). he also had the second fastest time of the day. FTD was 54.020 and twinpipe (Ingmar) was having fuel starvation issues with his turbo charged Miata engine powered 7 otherwise he most likely would have had the FTD. No snow in sight yesterday out here in Southern California. Temp was 84 degrees with a nice 4 to 7 kt breeze for the autocross. Sorry for the poor quality photos but what do you expect from a phone.

You will need cable chains for your outing I do believe from the forecast from what I read. "from the Weather Channel: How Much Snow? Low pressure will intensify just off the East Coast on Saturday producing significant snow across the Northeast. Below is our forecast accumulation map showing the heaviest amounts west and northwest of the I-95 corridor. In the pink shadings we could see 6 to 12 inches of heavy, wet snow. This includes cities such as Allentown, Pa., Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Worcester, Mass. While the heaviest amounts are most likely to fall northwest of I-95, some accumulations are also possible closer to the coast along the heavily-populated I-95 corridor from near Washington, D.C. to Boston. Precipitation will start as rain in these locations, but may change over to snow. How quickly this occurs and how much snow falls is dependent on the availability of enough cold air, which is difficult to forecast early in the season. " Have fun and be safe....weather out here in Ventura Calif. is going to be sunny and 69 to 78 degrees on Saturday depending where your at in the area. I know I am rubbing it in but I do enjoy reading about your events on the Northeast.....wish we had more people / 7's getting to gather out here in sunny southern Calif.

Setup for a slow before exit and yes the bottom right is the start. Top right is the end and their is a path that will take the cars around the grid area and back to the start so that is why there is a slow down at the exit besides we do not want anyone running over our equipment at the very end of their run because they have spun out trying to squeeze that last second of time like some of us have done that are on this forum...............No Names will be mentioned

rikker, Here is a good site to help you make your decesion. http://radartest.com/ Best radar detector is just due the speed limit but that is no fun and when traffic is flowing at a faster speed than the limit just don't be the lead car or the one weaving in an out of the different lanes. Note some states and local juristrictions have laws against the use of radar detectors so make sure you check that out as just having one mounted where the officer can see it can get you an aditional ticket if you get stopped. Posted speed out here in my area on the freeways are anywhere from 55 to 65 but it is rare that you see anyone doing those speeds they are usually doing 60 to 65 in the 55 zones and in the 75 to 80 in the 65 zones but again this is southern Calafornia and everyone is always in a rush to get to the next traffic jam.

notakit, Compared to the 948-A your 1275-A is godzilla but my 1800 BMC (MGB Engine) is King Kong........but compared to the more modern engines that are out there they are all sluggs and boat anchors in reality but fun to drive and I do agree with the fact that driving a low powered car fast is a lot of fun.
