  2. That is crazy....the car almost flipped over on its back....amaizing that the driver was able to keep it straight and to keep going.
  3. Gert, DHL Yellow or thetruck line called Yellow's Yellow. And your polishing tallents are way out their. What is your secret.
  4. Just to let you know there will be an Auto-x at Camarillo Airport on Sept. 13, 2009. It is being put on by the Santa Barbara Porsche Club. I will post more information as I get it. Not sure at this point if it will be open to non-members at this point but all of the auto-x's that they have sponsored have been open to anyone as long as they do not fill the grid with club members. I am one of the folks setting up the course the day before and will be running my car at this event for sure. Hope to see some of the other 7's that are in the area if you can make it. :driving:
  5. That is cool....I keep forgetting that our summer time is your winter time...sure do wish I could get back to NZ sometime in the future...Last time there was in 1990 on the way back from the ICE (McMurdo)
  6. You could also have a vacume leak that will also cause the engine to run a little higher RPM at idel so look for a vacume leak.
  7. Bruce, Looks like she has a perminate smile on her face now from the photo you posted. I wounder when she will ask you for the key to the seven and will dad let her take it when she asks....
  8. Gert, Put the wheels on your car and drive it that way, under 1500lbs you do not need fenders and besides a 7 is unique and would show eveyone what one is made of.....would draw a lot of attention.
  9. Mazda, Make one out of colth from the nose cone to the cowl just over the center of the engine about 20 inches wide. Light weight and easy to due and it would be hard to tell you it is not a hood as I do not know of any rules that say you have to have a steel hood or fiberglass.....just a sugestion.
  10. :iagree:
  11. Sound like someone needs to wire a weight on wheels switch to the Smart Cars suspension and then attach it to an Air Horn off a Bus or Truck. Might still get dunked but everyone on the block would hear it and mabe spot the culperts in the act of running away.
  12. STOP and check the timing first to see if it moved as that will cause what you have described before you tare into the carbs on your car. Carbs will not usually cause it to back-fire unless they are so messed up that they are dumping raw fuel into the cylinders. If you have points in your distribuator then check to see if they did not colse up or burn and pit as that will also cause what you have described.
  13. British Car Day Cruse Sponcered by Central Coast British Car Club and Look Out and Flip-Floop Restaurants Every Third Saturday of the Month Channel Islands Harbor 3600 Harbor Blvd. Oxnard, CA. Time: 1:00 pm until the last car leaves Questions call Bill Guzman 805-484-1528 Its free and you will meet a lot of other car nuts so come on out and see what other people have for cars and enjoy.
  14. Just for all of you out their a friend gave me a July 1991 copy of Classic and Sportscar Magazine as he figured I would like it which I due. On the front cover it has a Lotus Seven and it is the main story for that issue, 10+ pages of information and history and lots of photos. Wish their was a way to post it but it is all copy writed I would suppect. Anyway if your interested the magazine is the July 1991 Vol 10 No-4 of Classis and Sportscar and the article starts on page 47 through 57 and is a good read. (Note original price $5.50 of the Magazine)
  15. Gert, Give Dave Wellwood a call he is in Ventura and dose some very nice work. Wellwood Auto Restoration, Inc 1587 Morse Ave, Unit C. Ventura, CA. 93003 805-469-7842
  16. I read a report on the German Police Lambo and it actually has a cooler / freezer built into it so they can transport organ donor gifts when needed....pretty cool. Note: I would be smiling if I were the officer assigned to that curser like the guy in the photo.
  17. Now that is one smart car dealer....shame I do not need a new truck....
  18. The McLaren just because it has the looks that I like plus I think it seats three people so my wife could come along and bring the dog.......... Only in Dubi could you do that with those cars.
  19. The California Oil Museum in Santa Paula, CA. has a new exhibit which is very worthwhile going to see if you want to go for a ride in you 7. It is “ITALIAN MOTORCYCLES: Incredible Classics to Modern Marvels”. It opened July 3, 09 and runs through Sept. 27, 09. The museum is located at 1001 E. Main Street, Santa Paula, California. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $1 for student’s and5 and under are free. For more information here is the museums phone number: 805-933-0076. This collection is owned by a private collector from Ojai, Ca. if I am not mistaken and is worth the trip to see, I have seen it in the past about 15 yrs ago and it was worth the trip back then and besides the California Oil Museum and Santa Paula are neat places to see anyway from my point of view.
  20. An officer that I know here in Southern California told me about the same code slomove posted (CVC27400) and said the same thing that scannon said to do but then warned that if you are pulled over by an officer while driving for any reason and they see that you have sound protectors on (the Mickey Mouse type) and do not have a hearing aid then it opens the door to a ticket for a too loud of exhaust and some city's have some strange noise codes but most use 89db as the noise limit. I do have the flesh colored foam ear plugs that I use on occasionally on the few highway trips I take in my 7 when I remember to take them with me and they due make a big difference.
  21. Mazda, With you sitting in the seat it puts it into perspective. I like it that way.....I keep forgeting how big Franklin7 is compared to my 7.:leaving:
  22. You should see that approch from the pilots prespective....The buildings that your flying at before you make the right hand turn on to the final approach have been painted orange and white like a checker board....and when you make that turn your at about 1000 feet above the ground if I remember correctly from when I was going into their in a Saberliner.
  23. Mazda, If you attend an auto-x some tech inspections include what some refer to as the broom stick test and if your wind screen is to short or leaning back to far you can fail if the broom stick rest on it and the rollbar and your helmet hits the stick with you wearing it and sitting in the drivers seat as you would be driving....just something more to consider.
  24. Have to agree it is a good call on your part...besides you have completed the hard parts and made a smart desision...
  25. The pan brake you show in the photo is worth that much alone....great score
