Don't laugh to hard or hold your breath but I have been working on modeling the Lotus frame when I have the time. Maybe some of the other members that are SolidWorks designers would want to help model different parts of the frame for the forums use to repair or strengthen our cars when necessary. If so send me an e-mail and we can start the process. I also like the color as I am trying to decide if I should change the color of my car while I have it apart once again.

They might be cold but I would bet they would not pass it up if it was given to them for a test drive or to keep. I know I wouldn't even though I think the series 4's require a period of time to grow on one.

When being made they were very limited and not that good for the money compared to other cars. I have to admit I have a Ford Truck (F-350 Crew Cab Dually) but owen 5 other cars that are not from the Big 3.

I had Hagerty but switched to State Farm. I now pay less and have better coverage for my money and have an agreed value of $24000. I also have AAA and have used thier service once with my seven to have it brought home on a flat bed when I broke down last year. State Farm also has a milage limit of 5K a year and if I take it out of the area (200 mile radius) then I have to just tell my agent so the coverage is extended. So far I have not had any problems with my insurance or its coverage.

Hi KiwiBirkin, Nice 7 you have their, enjoy it and be safe. Spent 3 yrs in and out of Christchurch with NSFA and enjoyed my time in NZ a hole lot and found your country to be a great place.

You have good eyes to see my 914-6 in my garage in the last photo. What you done see in the backround because it is to the side is a 1973 MG Midget that I have been playing with for the last year. I have owned my 6 since June 7, 1970 and have owned nine other 914's over the years and at one time had one for everyday of the week.

Hi Mazda, I am open to trying the new forum. Just got a new laptop to try it with so no problems with old files. Martin

Not to my knowledge. I think that part of the site is what people have in their garage and not Jay's. Interesting though as I did not know of any street legal Megabusa 7 in California so if anyone knows who's car that is speak up as I like it. Very Cool and I would bet very fast.....Looks really good also.

I like the level and grab bars. Enjoy and have fun.

Hello Jeff, I am one of the few on the site that can actually say that I built my 7 replica from scratch and I do mean from scratch. If I were to due it again for my self I would duplicate my car with some very minor changes just to make a little more room for accessibility and ease of maintenance and comfort but basically keep it the same overall size. If I had the resources to spend without having to justify to my loving wife I would just buy a Caterham built to spec for me. But due to being a penny pincher that I am I would look for a nice used Caterham first and due a complete inspection of the cars suspension, steering gear, pedal assemblies and electricals to insure everything is correct and working. I would defiantly have the engine and gear box looked at by some one that knows the drive train that is in the car as you will find several different combinations in different cars and if it seems to be what I want and think it is a good deal then I would buy it and rebuild the things that will show up on all of the 7 type cars over time. One thing to remember when you own a 7 is you will have a car that overtime you will know every nut and bolt and have more to talk about than most people realize about a car and have a smile every time you come back from a ride or just working on your car. In a nut shell all of the 7 type cars are a lot of fun and more car that most of us realize so get what you want and the most for your money and try to get as many rides in the different makes to help you make up your mind on which 7 type car is best for you. Here is a link to some photos of my 7 and build enjoy. http://picasaweb.google.com/MHKflyer52/ALotus7ReplicaLocost

Hi Steve, Here is the unit I purchased and it works well on a lot of things. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=91957

Hi John, Just though it would be quite a coincidence if you were the John Bowman that I grew up with as a kid. Good to know you anyway.

Hi Steve, Ultrasonic cleaning is what I used when I cleaned and rebuild my Weber Down draft crab for my car and it worked very well. I don't think it hurt the bronze bearings that the butterfly valve shaft runs on at all and I actually used a parts cleaner solvent when I did mine. I purchased an Ultrasonic cleaner from Harbor Freight to use to clean small parts and it works fine so far. I do not know if it would affect oil brass by removing the oil from the brass but those bushings are normally replaced when a complete rebuild is done as that is where a lot of the wear and slop is in a Weber crab to start with, at least that is what I have found. Hope this helps.

John, Just wondering if you know of a town called Coatesville and Harlan Drive as I grew up with a John Bowman who I lost contact with in the early 70's as he moved to the Atlanta area back then.

Well I an 6'2.5" and 228lbs with a 38" waist and I fit very nicely in my car. I have had a couple of people stare when I do get in and I just tell them that it is part of the restraint system to help keep you from sliding around when taking cornors as fast as one can take.
-
I have also dumped the key for a push to start button along with some toggel switches that turn power on to the fuel pump and give power to the coil. It is actualy funny when I forget to turn on the fuel pump and start to drive away and only get about a block away when the car dies from lack of fuel and that is if I am keeping my foot out of it.

I have to agree but my top is the easiest I think.....here is a photo of it. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2055086201_DSCN1819.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1728754558_DSCN1820.JPG Only problem is it only covers one side and dose not work to well in the rain

Speeding Tickets ...and what cops say...your best story
MHKflyer52 replied to DB6's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Have to say that I have been pulled over twice in my 7....once on Rex Hill just outside of Newberg, Or (99W).....the State Trooper just wanted to see the car as he had heard about it from the Officer that had inspected it at the McMinville office when I went to the DMV inspection to get it registered...he was very cool. The second time was here in SoCal over by were my shop is.....the officer was also very cool and just wanted to see the car as he is a gear head and had only seen photos of a 7 until he saw mine he later came by my shop and I let him drive it....I have seen him twice now on the road and he still has this big smile on his face. -
Hi Skip, Glad to hear that you operation was a sucess. Hang in their as time will go buy quickly.
-
Hi Skip, I had mine done Dec 14,2007 and I was driving my 7 within 4 months after the operation. Shoulder works a lot better that it did for a very long time. Now after a year I do not even think about it and everything is normal like my shoulder was twenty years ago. Make sure you do the PT for the shoulder as it helps a lot. My doc had me in for PT after 7 days just to start making it work again. Also make sure your doctor give you a sleep aid to help the first week or so as getting a good night sleep was the hardest thing the first month for me and others I have talked to that had the same operation. Good Luck and keep us posted once your able too.

I agree but also look at the diferental mounts if it is IRS and the U-joints for play.
