  1. One of my favorite sedans. Prefer silver over black personally. Good luck with the sale. It's on my bucket list.
  2. I stumbled across this auction for a nice original Lotus. It looks like a good price for now 1 day left. Someone here may be looking. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-lotus-super-7-2/
  3. I found it thanks.
  4. Toedrag I cant find the custom vehicle section in the DMV. Do you know what section its in.
  5. Manual brakes will work just fine for any 7 in my opinion. Heck we even took the boosted brakes off of the BMW lemons race car and put a manual set up on it and it works great as long as the master cylinder doesnt blow seals. As far as headers go it will most likely require a custom set built to fit the car. Mufflers are available from many manufactures. Round style most popular. I wouldnt go over 2.5 the larger the pipe the louder it tends to get. Noise on the Honda is intense when your hammer it so a resonator before the muffler can help reduce the noise.
  6. Love the wheels what brand are they? They would look great on my 67 Chevy.
  7. Thats some good info there Bruce as usual. Will you put that in the service manual.
  8. Looks great. YOu will love the Honda engine.
  9. I looked at LoJack. Our local department doesnt have the radio's to track LoJack. So gps is my only option. With the system I got it has motion sensor and wakes up and starts communicating its location once it leaves its geo fence parameters. Maybe it will help if I just hide it sufficiently.
  10. I just had a trailer stolen Christmas day with 12k worth of equipment on it from a locked yard. Which really ticks me off. PD didnt really seem to give a rip about my missing stuff. I got to thinking there has to be some way to track this stuff. I did a little Googling and found a system that looks good. I thought it could come in handy for our little jewels and the trailers that transport them. I always sleep horribly in the hotel when traveling with my car due to fear of theft. The one I picked has several options. (There are several different companies to choose from most have monthly service fees.) I now have 13 trailers and dont want to pay a 10.00 montly fee on all of them. So I choose to go with http://www.gpsandtrack.com their units come with a 1-3 service with purchase of the module and additional year of service is 20.00 for the year. It has geo fencing capabilities and adjustable check in segments depending on your needs. Thought I would share with my fellow enthusiast.
  11. YOU could use 17x8 all around if you want to run 22 and 245 on the rear. If you go with a 275 on the rear then you can use the 9 inch. Usually 35-38 MM offset works well.
  12. I have the 2" foam they sell in the Aircraft spruce catalog and had it made into seat cushins more so I can see over the dash of the Ultralite. It may give a bit of protection on compression but it does tend to compress to 1" in short order. It helped with monkey butt syndrom during the One Lap events.
  13. I like to put loctite on those bolt saftey wire is a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Wow Shane that was a really hard hit. I can see how you got injured so badly the passenger was lucky to not have the same injuries. I will defenitly look at tracks different after that video. Hope the recovery is coming along.
  15. Great Info John. What about just driving with the brakes applied to build up the heat? Is it not enough pressure and torque? I usually do this when I first get in the car because the first few stops are poor because the brakes are cold. Once I drag them for a block they are ready to go. Maybe the problem was I wasnt getting a good break in done on the pads. I did 10 cycles of 70 -0 moderate pressure and let them cool down. Im thinking it wasnt enough.
  16. JIm have I got a deal for you. As for me. I saved the Ultralite from gong to the junk yard scrap pile since I love the car I didnt want to see that happen. Brian was not able to carry on with the brand for various reasons. I had hopes that I could keep the company going. I didnt want to build the chassis the same way they had been done in the past because the conistancy in quality was less than I wanted. The previous jig used was not the best layout and wasn't stable enough. Mutiple welders and shops over the years led to the inconsisntcy. The suspension geopmetry needs to be refreshed. I wanted to have everything done in CAD software and all the tubing cnc cut, bent and notched. I spent a significant amount of time working thru some of these issues and the cost quickly reached into the 80k dollar range just to get set up. So now you have to acutually build the car. Which would require a few reasonably talented employees. You figure 40k a year in salary plus workers comp insurance, taxes, unempoyement insurance you are at 58k per year per employee. So now you have to 116k in labor plus facility overhead which can run 15-20k per year. Now you have to make kits affordable so no more than 25k for a full kit. This leaves about 5-6k profit per car. So you have to sell 27 kits per year to break even. Two guys cant build 27 cars a year. So this leaves you with a few options. Hire less qualified employees and hope like hell they dont weld up a critical piece poorly. Cut back on parts and quality of finish. Raise the cost of the kits to 32k and turn key cars to the mid 40-50k range. I just dont know if you could sell enough cars to make a profit. I could build the cars entirely myself with a helper and build 3 -4 cars a year, I might could eek out a 40k dollars profit for the year. As for me I work 56 hours week at the fire deptarment. Since my retirement and health insurance is tied to this job I'm not likely to give it up anytime soon. I have 3 other business that I fill my spare time with which typically turns into 90-100 hour work week. Since each of my 3 small business make as much money of a good year building kits I can't justify shutting them down either. So I do my best ot help fellow Ultraliters with spare parts and info to keep their cars on the road. I assist buyers and sellers in moving cars. If someone is interested in building kit give me a call. I have a deal for you
  17. Clarkson makes the show in my opinion. PC has gotten so ridiculous that Starbucks now calls its black coffee as uncreamed.
  18. Can anyone tell me why my password never is retained. I have had the issue since the site change or update was done. I mark the remember me box and it just wont retain the info. Is there a setting I/m missing. It doessnt work on ipad iphone or pc. What am i missing?
  19. I'm keeping an eye on Elio. I like the concept, price and marketing. I was tempted to do a deposit. I just think they are to short on funding to get into production. Maybe if all the back benchers like me would put money down they could gain support or backing. They have about 40k reservations last I saw. If it were 100k reservations it might make a difference. I also think the finance plan is really ingenious. Time will tell.
  20. Its amazing you had such serious spinal injury with so little damage to the car. I'm puzzled how that happened and the passenger had no injuries. Anxious to hear the full story. On the other hand hope the surgery goes well and you can get back to full tilt boogey in no time.
  21. I found this on the FFR forum discussing it. http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?10180-No-more-home-made-vehicles-allowed-to-be-registered-in-Texas
  22. It used to be if you register a car as a replica then it is still fairly easy. Problem begins when you say "kit car". If you go the kit car route now you have opened a can of worms. They have to meet regulations of all new cars. This means crash worthiness, full emissions etc. Since AA cant really be done as a replica because there is nothing like it before. The Lotus 7 has a heritage that is well documented. So it is fairly easy to get on the road. But since Texas pulled all the titles on the AA cars something has happened, but I haven't heard the reason why the state did it.
  23. I think Lambo and Ferrari cars sound the best.
  24. I was working in Thule Greenland when the Key Bird rescue was being attempted. I heard people talking about it at around the base, but I never meet any of the crew working on it. They would ferry parts from the base to the crash site. Several years later I saw the documentary about the rescue attempt. That had to be a heart breaking moment for that crew.
  25. I've been away for a few days and just seeing this. So sorry to here about your accident. I'm very happy everyone is doing ok. We will pray for a quick recovery. Hang in there.
