  1. We have a friend that we run One Lap with Mark Blaha that is building cars like this for a race team. He has built five of them with twin turbo and big brakes like that. He is getting 800 hp out of them. With the traction control it will laund to 60 in 2.2 seconds. They are having problems keeping the transmission and clutches together, and the engine is only lasting about 2 events before it gives up. They are really pissing off the competiton though because they are now starting to give them weight penalties trying to make it more even. I am sure 7evin will pipe in here if it is the same car. It looks like it from the discussions we have had.
  2. Mondo that has already been done. DAX Rush made an all wheel drive Sierra Cosworth powered seven. They have a video on their website. It was doing a street style autocross it looked like it was a hand full.
  3. That doesnt sound like an S2000 engine. I hear no vtec kicking in and the rpm seem to be to low for F20c. It could just be the mic.
  4. Congrats Hank. It is a great looking car. Sounds like a fun maiden voyage.
  5. It wont work. Not enough people will buy the 50mpg cars to offset the bigger vehicles. The only way to get people to change to small cars is to jack the price to $6 per gallon. Just wait until this Carbon Cap BS passes. Expect all energy prices to rise 75-90%. Electricy will likely be more than your house payment. They think that there are alot of forclosures on the market now just hold on. Prices on everything will go thru the roof. The few remaining manufactures that are in the US are going to move to Mexico and China or wherever to avoid the tax. This will wipe out the middle class and the poor will become even poorer. I dont know what the hell these people are thinking, but the way everything else that is getting crammed down our throats I wouldnt be surprised if congress just pushes it thru. Everyone knows that OBAMA is in support of it. Even stated during his campaign tours that he plans on taxing coal power plants so heavily that they will not be able to stay in business. If they do the consumer prices will sky rocket. He said it with a straigt face and the media just let it slide on by. Unbelievable.
  6. Chuck Norris could go for months!
  7. Man I live in West Texas. The roads are very straight. So I have to hurry and get to the next corner.
  8. I would take OilTeqs advice, he knows oil. After his siminar at the 7s festival I went home and put diesel engine oil in all my vehicles plus all my small equipment. Blaine I will be calling yall to get a few cases of Cenpeco shipped to me.
  9. Thats what I was thinking Bob. I think it needs to be expierenced to be appreciated.
  10. Well I cant agree with everyone. While I am sure that a classic seven with 120hp or so is fun to drive. ( I have not driven one) I can only base my experiences off my own cars. Orignal Ultralite dynoed at 188hp at the rear wheels. It was very fast and exciting car to drive. Did a little tuning and the car to 205hp still fun to drive and very good street manners and still flies on track. Added supercharger and got to 300hp at the rear wheels. Still very good street manners and very driveable at the track. The car was as stable with 300hp as it was with 188hp. It was no faster thru the corner but when straights came up it was a different game. We then built Kevins car supercharged 2.2L we were getting about 380 hp at the rear wheels. I drove like a dream on the street and is no slouch when pointed in a straight line. As the One lap results and the Ultimate Track Car challenge results show it is no slouch on the track either. I still think another 100 hp will be even more fun. We shall soon see. The new version should be about 500 rear wheel hp. Maybe it will be enough I guess we will see. Power is very relative thing. I know when I my first car I thought it just doesnt get any faster than this. Well I was very wrong. After only a month of driving it I found myself complaing how slow it was. Each variation the same thing happened. Now Kevins car I only drove for a few days but I could see the 380hp being exciting for a good while but 500 should be just about right. Just my 2.
  11. I used the REO1R Yokahoma from Tire Rack they were good on the track and dry roads. Not so well if you get caught in the rain. Not a problem for most seven owners. At those prices you will be very satisfied. I think I paid close to 200.00 a tire.
  12. IRS or straight?
  13. I can honestly say you will get more attention in a 7 than just about any car out there. The first year 7 and I did the One Lap I felt like a rock star. Everywere we went we were getting our picture taken. You would drive by 18 wheelers they would have a camera sticking out the window to take pictures. We would pass folks and they would catch up and be taking our picture while traveling 85mph. We got hung up in the toll both in Chicago late one evening. We had people getting out of their cars and walking back to take our picture. I bet it happened 20 times the 40 min we were there. I know another guy that has an Ultralite that owns Porsche, Ferrari and Lambos and says he gets way more attention in his Ultralite. They just draw people in. Everyone knows when you stop to fill up with gas at least 1 person will come up and start asking questions.
  14. Any will fit your needs and do quite well in all endevours. It is all going to boil down to personal taste really. There are some models that have more power than others, but all are very fun to drive. This dicussion has been kicked around many times before so you might try a search and see if you can find more answers. Everyone tends to be a little biased towards the mark they own. Good and bad can be seen in all of them.
  15. I rode trials for several years. I attended several training sessions with Tommy Avahla. He was a world champion thru the 90s. It is unbelievable what they can ride a motorcycle over. He could ride up stuff that you would need ropes and mountain load of climbing gear to get up on. They make it look so easy. I started my son Logan this year on an Oset. It is an electric trials bike hoping he can pick up some made skills for when he is older.
  16. i cant do it either. I think that is going to be a good bar bet for free beer.
  17. looks like it has been redone. that mounting is usually about 2" long.
  18. There is a short 2 page article from the Texas Hill Country tour from last spring. Better late than never I suppose. It has a few good pics and a nice write up. We are likely to reschedule the Hill Country tour for the fall time frame. The SW7s festival consumed the time slot I had for this year. Need to get my car finished first.
  19. That aint your dads Gallardo. Maybe your rich dads because that thing has had a few tweeks.
  20. Mondo, I dont care who you are that there is funny!
  21. I like that article Bob. It says what I think I just cant express it in that way. I also agree with Athens7. Its kind like a frog that you throw into pan of boiling water, it will jump right out. If you put frog in a pan of water and slowly heat it up it will sit there until it is dead. I'm afraid we are becoming the frog. If we dont look out we are going to get cooked alive.
  22. I agree with slngsht I love the front the rear needs some work.
  23. I think it is a great choice. The bottom end is very stout and can handle 600hp. It has good low end torque and alot of upgrades on the market. I believe that it has balance shafts as well so it is very smooth. The turbo motor can easily make 350hp with minor mods. I have looked at it more than once.
  24. Yeah I have that on the list right behind the plasma cutter. I am going to be putting in a second floor in half of the shop pretty soon. I have alot of stuff that I dont use all the time but dont want to get rid of. Spare engines, wheels and tires, odd ball parts etc. My shop is getting a little full.
  25. Hank you are a bad, bad, bad man.
