  1. You're right. I was thinking more second hand owners rather than first owners putting on new orders. Not familiar with that demographic whatsoever.
  2. Let's be frank. Few if any of us will be target market. Whatever it will be it doesn't hit any of the notes that mimic the ethos essence of the 7 that drove us to like the 7. It won't have the pedigree It won't have the lightness It won't have the noise It's unlikely to be just as much of an open concept and will likely have either side glass and or doors and back window You won't be able to put one together at home You won't be able to really service it yourself It will likely be quick but thats not what drives is to these Frankly I'm not sure who the market for this will be. I know they are forced to make them but for who? Will they have airbags and be able to sold directly in US due to passing safety regs? At least that would increase the customer base greatly
  3. Pretty comprehensive overview Why is there a shark on my Caterham dashboard? 🦈 🤔
  4. No part number. Is this something that is actually needed to be measured? Tuner did his best work to try to find the optimal output by playing with adjustable cam gears.
  5. I'll scan my paperwork and share what I have My understanding is that Superlight R's at the period were sold with a "200whp" package of a Zetec, ITB's, cam work and maybe a tune. I have receipts and paperwork on my end to my build but it has many mixed messages. Different cams get mentioned in different areas while upon doing headwork on my car it appears that I have stock cams that were custom ground. There are certainly lots of receipts with lots of "$" to the original engine build paperwork. From what I got from the builder and the communications is that this engine was actually his race engine that he used in another 7 that was swapped into this build once he completed it by the dealer.
  6. I have a Duratec sitting on hand, just not willing to commit to a major swap if I can get ~200hp out of the Zetec setup. At this time I'm pending going FI on the current engine or maybe swapping it over to another Zetec for the ease of swap (either a fresh regular or SVT) I just fail to understand what can be so wrong with this engine with so few miles and passing all the health checks, even if it had a hard life earlier.
  7. Thanks for that. Here is my graph ~130hp @ 6200 ~122hp @ 5252 It's just not building power in top end
  8. You'll need to get in line for an SB100 Which is why 7's in CA that are already registered there carry a premium for others that buy them there as they've been through the process and got the exception https://bauerltd.com/the-magical-sb100-registering-your-car-in-california/
  9. Did not come with the pulleys. Got them on per advice of tuner before I went down there. I'd be somewhat more ok with those numbers but Tom is the absolute East coast guru for Zetecs and he was very perplexed as to why it was under performing. He expected it to put down around 170 wheel which is honestly what I was sort of expecting as well. Before he did his magic with the the, the engine was actually part of "double digit dyno" club.
  10. Thank you. I read BC but it never quite registered. Whats the story with the roll bar? Took cage off and putting bar on? Never came with it? Which style did you get? The double diagonal or OEM straight vertical bar cross bar. Yes I've been having all sorts of issues on my end with Zetec. Obviously SVT is different but after extensive research I've gathered that the biggest chocking points on regular Zetec are intake and exhaust, both of which are replaced on a Cat with ITBs so power should be comparable. My package was sold as "200hp" SLR but as of now it's nowhere near that. I think me engine might be tired. You have a dyno you can post? Or send it. It would certainly be nice to have another data point. If SVTs can achieve that almost stock, it would be a rather easy and cheap swap for me.
  11. While this is unlikely to fix my power problems it made me feel better
  12. So my lack of power in the car and the comment by the tuner that it's chocking even though it's on ITBs made me reconsider my velocity stack arrangement. The ones on there now are slightly smaller than the runners and aren't OEM, but were rather a quick fix and were welded on. So here comes the fun
  13. Hah. No this was not an accidental purchase. I frequently browse UK listings and reach out to sellers if they don't list shipping to US to see if they would make an exception. I appreciate the offer but unfortunately I don't think you're fitting a set of wheels on carry on. This definitely qualifies as "big". PS you do all this travel without checked bags??? I admire that. Redline Chris got back to me. He's baffled at the retirement comment and has no plans to do so. He did follow my train of thought in regards to bringing his son into the business possibly making me think that he might be on the way out. As of right now Chris will likely be my avenue for this. Thanks again to all.
  14. Small black poppers is going to be your best bet to cover up small bolt holes. The flat counter sunk washers are a good alternative but I think they stand out more than the plastic pop ins. You probably saw them on the one blog mounting an aero screen using them I'll post pictures tomorrow.
  15. Congrats. Looks very unusual without a cage. How did you get a 2005 across the border? Agreed on the lights. Went to smaller ones a long time ago in the upper location but still haven't done the rewire to the lower mounts. Does this SVT run ITBs to get the power?
  16. Used Chris for a lot but not for a while. He's my next point of contact. Last I heard he may have retired?
  17. Trying to win something on eBay but the seller is refusing to ship to US. If I can ship to your address and you can ship here I'll compensate you for the trouble. Thanks
  18. My fuel pump is very loud, not sure about yours. Can you hear it pumping when you turn the key? Even before you start the car?
  19. Who wins? Rules are, car must be at least 5 years old. I'm 2001 with ~4k miles but my true miles are unknown due to a cluster having issues at some point in its life so I disqualify myself.

  22. I ordered a 6 pin generic econoseal from Amazon. Have been fighting with them here and there ever since. It's somewhat of an art form to make them work right in the end.
