  1. Nice set up! You did the right things by getting the brake controller (assuming you have electric brakes on the trailer) The tongue weight is good. If the trailer wanders, you may need to transfer a little forward. I don't think you need to run max. pressure. Back off 5-10 psi Have fun!
  2. Welcome Morgan and congratulations! I have a very similarly equipped Superlight R, so if I can be of any help, let me know. I drive my regularly at tracks around the SE and it always rewards. I run Hoosier R6 for these events which I think is a very good choice given my somewhat limited selection with 13" wheels. I'm headed to Mid-Ohio with Chin for Memorial Day. Al...do tell me about these mods to the engine. where do I find out more?
  3. Al: If it is what you wanted, I am happy to hear you sold it. But I can't help feel a little pain that you let it go. I hope you will remain a part of the community and find another Seven soon. Please ask the new owner to post in the forum once he receives the car and gets the chance to experience the thrill of driving it.
  4. Twice now, mine was called a "buggy" which I think is intended to mean "dune buggy" I gotta say, that is a conversation killer for me and I revert to the shortest possible answer: NO! Then there was this stunningly beautiful girl that asked what it was...totally mesmerized, I think I said something like it's a buggy. Want a ride?
  5. Yep...looks like the springs are the wrong size. Best way to lower the car (more than a fraction of an inch) is by changing to shorter springs. Then use your spring perch to fine tune ride height and cornerbalance the car.
  6. Although I agree lighter cars can run lower pressures, I think the tire makes a difference here. The Avon CR500 should run 16 front and 18 in the rear. I run my Hoosier radials at 26 front and 28 in the rear (on the recommendation of Hoosier). My Dunlop vintage tires on my FF I run at 15/17. I don't think it matters much on the street, but on the track it is indeed trial and error best evaluated by taking tire temperatures.
  7. I know Recaro makes the pole position seat in XL (which isn't really as big as the XL suggests)
  8. Al: There are two sizes to the FIA bar. Perhaps you have the larger and that is making the top less than accommodating
  9. Oh yeah! Very nice
  10. Do you happen to know the spacing between the mounting brackets/sliders that you need. I have a set of Recaro Pole Positions that I would be happy to measure to see if they would fit. Caterham seats at $1100 each? They better be carbon fiber
  11. Hmmm...dirt track tires. I would want a compression and leakdown test on that engine.
  12. We all know that water is a by-product of the combustion process, but why would a very experienced engine builder/supplier leave condensation in the engine?

    Weigh In...

With a 185lb driver, mine came in at 1387 (642 front and 745 rear; 717 left and 670 right). That includes 48 lbs of fuel. So excluding fuel and driver, the car weighs 1154 lbs.
  14. I put just under 5 quarts in mine. Broken dip stick tip (say that 3X fast)? Did it happen to you?
  15. That's pretty cool. I knew it - it had to be a DARPA project and probably a very big $$$$ one. The Dept. of Defense loves that stuff.
  16. Most definitely. On the track I have to wear earplugs. First time I didn't, my ears rang for three days. I love the ITB noise - it's so cool.
  17. I ran even with a ZO6 at Roebling despite being limited to 120 mph. The only cars that passed me in my group were a track-prepared 997 Twin Turbo and a highly modified 993 TT. In the hands of a good driver, a ZO6 should be faster. Running in the red group at a PCA event at VIR's South Course I was faster than everyone except one 997 GT3. Those are very good cars. On full course, I was equal to a F355 Challenge car but couldn't stay with the GT3s and high hp Porsches. I don't understand why a Seven is so much faster than the Elise and Exige. From what I read about these cars, I had the impression they excelled at the track.
  18. I think we will know the depth of the problem when this week, much of the financial sector reports its earnings. I could easily see a panic sweeping over the market. It is a good time to be in cash (or maybe gold) because there will be great investment opportunities in the days ahead.
  19. Al won't drive it at the track, but for those that will, the Superlight R is an awesome track car. I spent last weekend at Roebling Road running down 911s, 944s, M3s, Elises, Exiges, Mustangs, and Spec Miatas. With the Zetec, it is also remarkably reliable and simple to maintain.
  20. So at the current exchange rate, what's that in US dollars...about $50K or something. Buy quickly or it may be a $100K in another week.:banghead: :ack: :_deadhorse:
  21. Well...here's an ad that I thought I would never see. I hope this doesn't mean USA7s is losing you too. All I can say is if you want a Caterham, the Superlight is the one to have. I can attest to the handling and performance.
  22. Really, it was a bad decision to attempt a landing. During the approach, the pilot knew the crosswinds were very strong. Coming into Orlando one day, I was in a 737 attempting a landing during thunderstorms. As soon as we started going sideways the pilot called off the landing and circled back around. It's not a comforting feeling to see the nose pointed at an angle of 30-40 degrees to the length of the runway.
  23. Canon Powershot S2 I still marvel at all the digital innovations.
  24. Starter Connections (or at least the best photos I can get) http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/590157725_starter1 reduced.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1104838763_starter2 reduced.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/153339024_starter3 reduced.jpg
  25. Ahhh...I learned something new - I thought the Superlight was 13" wheels only.
