  1. Mary's car? I have a lot more questions than that, probably more than the seller wants to answer. Also, I need a place to store it...wish they would build the garages at NJMP
  2. It was a memorable day with lots to talk about at night. I'll let Tom explain his new strategy for getting a GT3 to let him pass BTW: the Ford GT also belongs to the Veyron owner as does a Porsche GT2 RS that is off camera.
  3. On Lightning at NJMP, I tried the R 888 185/60/13 in the front and 205/60/13 in the rear and I have to say, I like them a lot. The car is balanced and predictably - very neutral handling. They seems to stick as well as my Hoosiers and the fronts are just a little bit narrower so they do not rub on the front wing supports. Not sure if I'll every try them in the rain, but they are supposed to be very good. I bought mine from Tire Rack, heat cycled.
  4. I started out with Porsche Club, doing lots of track events all over the Northeast. I was track chairman for awhile and a president. I can tell you, the PCA is very nervous about all track events and the insurance requirements have escalated over the years - I suspect because of a number of terrible DE accidents. Honestly, I don't know why a Caterham driver would want to attend a PCA event. There are always lots of cars on the track, many run groups and not a lot of opportunity to socialize with people of a similar mindset. With so many tracks and DE schools available, I see no reason to even think about registering for a PCA. I like Chin Motorsports quite a bit, but they tend to run events more in the Southeast. Track Daze was also a good experience.
  5. Mike I'm not a big fan of taking video, but the details of your system and all the options is so thorough that I copied it to a word file that I will save in the event I change my mind. Thanks for sharing!
  6. Two great days at NJMP Saturday and Sunday. Very sorry I couldn't stay for the Monday/Tuesday gathering. Flew into Tropical Storm Debbie on Monday...ugggh Very wet here. Thanks to Tom, Mike, Michael, Glen, Spencer and Karl for making me feel so welcome. I will do everything I can to make the next gathering. Love the pictures...can't wait to see the videos. -Jeff
  7. Seriously, this has nearly everything I’m looking for in a YouTube video (except maybe a panda): drunk redneck, redneck cop, whiskey, lawnmower, taser, and DUI.

    What is it?

I don't see the slightest resemblance to a Indy car. Do you? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Race-Cars-Not-Street-Legal__Street-Legal-LP-Powered-Indy-style-Car-WoW_W0QQitemZ250366641842QQadiZ2792QQadnZRaceQ20CarsQ20Q28NotQ20StreetQ20LegalQ29QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRace_Cars_Not_Street_Legal_?hash=item250366641842&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A10|39%3A1|240%3A1318
  9. Wow....I doubt it. I think the closest to a Seven-type was the Morgan Aero 8 that ran Le Mans one year http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/articles/images01/morgan_ebay_02.jpg
  10. I would leave them for the next owner...you never know. There's no advantage to removing them and some states require backup lights to pass inspection.
  11. Got it...thanks so much. Very well done.
  12. Posted it before, but it's still my favorite. Happy New Year! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/82373653_Chase.jpg
  13. I think it was the two days at Barber Motorsports in Birmingham. The track is a roller-coaster in a Seven. I passed a Noble, Radical and a spec racer Ford - all of which should be faster than me. It is hard to fathom how well these cars handle. http://www.usa7s.net/ASPNETFORUM/upload/1014967920_Chase.jpg

    golf balls

Two couples went out golfing together. The men hit first from the men's tee and walked with the ladies to their tee box. The first lady took a mighty swing at the ball, missing it completely, while passing some gas rather loudly in the process. No one commented. She addressed the ball again but this time she passed just a little gas as she made contact with the ball, topping it and moving it only a short distance. She said, "I wonder why it didn't go any further?" One of the men said, "I don't think you gave it enough gas!"
  15. It's hard to criticize someone that doesn't get paid...thanks for taking on the task Al!
  16. Did I read it correctly? £100,000 for a Caterham? That kind of money opens up a lot of interesting alternatives. I can't see them selling more than a few.
  17. Welcome! Your car looks like it was well assembled with good fit and finish.
  18. LOL...no He had this exact sign hanging on the inside of the trailer: http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/DES/D1423~Amazingly-Posters.jpg and I think he really meant it.
  19. It is a Stalker, but sadly when I tried to talk to the owner, he gave me quick notice that he had no interest in talking about these cars. Though I parked my trailer right next to his, he spoke only a single word to me after I introduced myself and asked him if he ever posted on the USA7s forum. His response was no, so I took that as his last word on the subject.
  20. When I see prices like that, I always think about what else I could get for similar money. In that price range there are lots of interesting options (not new): Radical SR3 Lotus Elise or Exige (and eventually the 211) Porsche 996 GT3 or 993 TT Corvette ZO6 Noble M400 BMW M5 I could go on...so I guess it depends on where your preferences lie. Personally, I would go for one of the cars in my list before this eBay car, but that's just me
  21. If you get the chance, I highly recommend Barber Motorsports Park. A beautiful facility with a fun track for Sevens. The chase is on... http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/82373653_Chase.jpg It was bright and sunny in Alabama http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1074252909_smDSC_1063 (Medium).jpg
  22. I said there would be those that disagree... I drive mine every chance I get, but the greatest joy for me comes from the track. No doubt about it, the person that drives one of these cars is different, usually strongly individualistic. Those that drive it anytime and anywhere are...um...not normal.
  23. People ask me either (1) how fast will it go? or (2) what's your gas mileage? Sign of the times I guess. It's really the best of both worlds
  24. CJ: Welcome and good luck with the hunt. I also came to a Seven after owning Porsches for many years, the latest a 964 Turbo. I just got frustrated with the repairs and decided to get something that was unique and well suited for the track. I can tell you the Seven makes for an excellent track car - I was astounded at well it handles. I knew at that moment, I made the right decision. The Porsche is now gone and I don't look back (well...that 914-6 at Cannillo Motorsport is pretty nice). There may be some that disagree, but I do not think these cars are well-suited for regular driving, especially not as a daily driver. They are safer than a motorcycle, but no where near the protection of your Porsche. For that reason, I stick to sunny days on back roads. I can usually get most places in Raleigh without getting on a 4 lane road for long. If you take the plunge, I suggest you think about driving the same way.
  25. Belts, like every other piece of safety equipment, carry an expiration date. Two years seems too soon for replacement unless you installed older belts. It also depends on the event. If you are racing, inspectors adhere to the rules and will check your belts. The only Driver Ed group that I know that checks belts is the Porsche Club and they are not consistent about it.
