Westfield rotary engine applications - new for 2016
BusaNostra replied to manik's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I currently owned 1993 RX-7 and owned 3 of them over the years. Rotary is not for novice to take care. Mazda started the rotary for over a decade now and still plenty of ills -- mostly in sealing issue, heat, gas guzzler, emission compliance & the volatility of the apex seal. It's a wonderful engine. but I will not touch it if the Westfield rotary was developed by someone other than Mazda. I don't know how much experience this builder in the rotary technology. The Mazda is experienced enough to the rotary engine but i'm still doubtful. Only for the people enough knowledge on this system. Mine is for sale by the way..... -
When you design a two (2) physical bike engine, do you design this way? http://i62.tinypic.com/290wnkz.jpg If its not possible to to do 4x4, can i dedicate right rear axle to one engine and the left rear axle to another engine by using bike differential something like this? http://i60.tinypic.com/35lw36v.jpg Lastly, do you think i have to use one standalone ecu to power both engines? Or individual ecu then join the accelerator into one? Like an outboard boat motor having two engines. Thanks

I found a couple of emails: Norton, Michael (M.P.) 10/27/14 to me Which vehicle are you referring please? See attached. The blue one is the latest Formula car to FIA F4 specification with carbon monocoque. The red one is the current Formula Ford with tubular steel monocoque. Both use the identical 1.6 EcoBoost turbo engines and come with the latest FIA safety standards. Neither are yet in the US but could easily be transported. What was your plans regarding where and in what championship you would run the car. Many thanks. Michael Norton Manager Ford Racing Technical, Sporting & Programmes Ford Racing Ford Motor Company 15-GC-H01-C Dunton Technical Centre, Laindon, Essex, SS15 6EE Tel: +44 1268 405978 Mob: +44 7714 695904 The next email: 10/27/14 to Michael Mr. Norton, Thank you again.....would you mind if you can tell me what is the price of the red & the blue? I will try to fit it in my budget. No shipping cost....I will take care the shipping. Regards, Norton, Michael (M.P.) 10/28/14 to me The carbon cars are only available as new cars as there is no 2nd hand market yet. The cost of the rolling chassis is €33,000. If you add the paddle shift system, data logging and on-board camera that’s an additional €5,000. The EcoBoost engine package is available at the FIA price cap cost of €9,500. The engine is supplied separately to the car so if you wanted the car delivered ready to race there would be an additional build cost. The steel cars are only available 2nd hand and I can put you in contact with a couple of people who you can negotiate with. The price of these cars ready to race would be between £13,000-£16,000 remembering that these cars are now 3 years old generally. Many thanks. "were these questions being asked by UK or USA ? " In the USA -- Any UK dealer will sell you the car. Not their jurisdiction to stop selling & shipping the car. The receiving end is the problem. This just happened a year and half ago when I inquired about the Ford eco-boost for the street. The Ford told me not for sale but I can buy the 'older' Formula type eco-boost that was used for series racing. I contacted the racing team who does chassis for Ford (there are 1/2 doz. company making it for them). To make the story short, they can sell me a 2011 formula ford chassis with full dress up but without engine. I contacted a broker (shipper in FL that specialized with this type). They sent me a few pages of forms (pdf file) to fill. Since I declared it for off road only, they would like to know the history of the car (any history that the car has been raced in England), what racing league I will use the car in the U.S., must have racing chassis number and if i have a racing license (SCCA probably acceptable). I think they were trying to gather as much information in case their is a question that will arise during the importation process. I don't think they will use the info (if the examiner will not press) but I'm not too sure... I chicken out because they warned me. There was line to put your signature that you are telling the truth. I'm searching my previous emails and see if I can find the pdf files. Yes, I provided a photo of the car, this triggered this complex process when they saw a formula type car...this was not even the examiner. I was not there yet. This was just the shipper. Importing car is a hit or miss process like registering a seven in 50 states.

I tried to buy a formula type car in Norfolk England, I indicated in the broker form that the car is only for racing not intended for the road use. They gave me a 9 yards of red tapes. I've been asked what racing league the car belongs and if i have a racing license....on and on. I never heard this before. They warned me that the car will be sent back or impound until I complete the process. I got scared and I told the owner that I will pass. I wonder what difficulty if you declare the car is for road use. Shipping is not the problem....the problem is if you can take it out from the gate without the authority questioning the process. Good luck I hope everything will be ok and custom will not give you a hard time. Let us know I would like to try this again if it works for you.....

If you don't understand, tough luck.....hahahaha https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=264&v=okPGhjdUzyk

It's possible....but sooner or later it will get to your nerves because of the traffic. Maybe buy Fiat 500 like the Pope.
-
Why not just buy it here? There are dealers of 7 here (every single one) -- you help the fellow Americans and easier to deal with than these enormous red tapes imposed to us by our great leaders.
-
Ok then....that's more like it. Stalling & won't start a symptom of fuel starvation (in fuel injection system). You mentioned the Gsl395? That's a Walbro right? which I had 3 of them went south and found out they were all made in "junk china" They counterfeited Walbro and its hard to tellif real or not. All I know, when I hear it like a person having an asthma attack, I knew its gone. Get a new one and try it....at least you have spare incase its not.
-
Well, how you even start and run the car with bad regulator or weak fuel pump? Fuel injection system is very sensitive to these two parts. So, you probably pointing in the wrong direction. What is the symptom?

http://www.gizmag.com/nissan-zeod-rc-engine/30611/ I want my seven back....
-
Thanks Mike & NVp66s ---- I also replaced the non functional dash from racing to a full dashboard (left & right) so I can insert a bunch of toggle switches for street use. Added some pull up resistors to make the dash work.
-
I did not touch the chassis, there is no reason to butcher a beautiful chassis. Instead, I added wiring, safety standard devices & road worthy accessories. That means, rerouting adding/deleting wires, fuses, making the dash works, lighting, hazard, sensors, e-brakes. Cataloging & documenting 'cause there is no book to support when I need to go back.....but i made it. All the knowledge from having a seven. Even the rear wing and the front spoiler is my own design. The headlight from yamaha yzf450 quad that I think matches the nose of the car.

Comparison of Atom street version chassis vs racing chassis. The top one is the street version and the two bottom is the racing version. Not even close.....they don't know what they missing.......yep, a better chassis, that's why i pursued it. They are much stronger and turn better. http://i61.tinypic.com/2dbj8no.jpg http://tinypic.com/m/in7egx/3
-
The chassis of this car 30% stronger and stiffer than the road version. I love it. You have to bite your jaw to drive it....hahahaha!. The chassis has to pass SCCA. This car already has SCCA - NASA stamped in the chassis.
-
I finally registered my 7 --lol: Don't ask me how.....it's tough, anger & blood sweating zhyte...sometimes you want to use your 2nd amendment rights.....lol: http://i58.tinypic.com/2qup0co.jpg

Hard Starting; Lazy Fuel Pump?
BusaNostra replied to Road Ready's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Do you have a standalone ECU? If you do, try to turn on the "crank inject all" and advance the timing 1-5 degrees during cranking. Maybe the map is not properly configured during cranking time. -
Lime Rock Historic festival no longer what it used to be. It's just all parade in the track -- show no go. I stopped going. Not like the days of Bob Tullius group 44 and Bob Sharp (Datsun 510 & 240z) & Paul Newman--- all out racing.
