    Black primer

Add some small hub caps & red wheels and you will start a new 7 trend in rat rods. I like it.
  2. Bob, my stage III cams will pull fine from 1500 RPM on in 5 th gear. It now has a good kick from 3500 up. The TQ is up from stock on so it still pulls very well on the low end. One of the big areas are in the head P&P as well as larger valve. There isn't much room to go much too big on the valves though. They were able to increase my port size enough that they also had to enlarge the intake to blend it to fit the big ports. Same with the EX. manifold. Years ago I did P&P work on my heads, but never checket with a dyno due to $$$, so I didn't know if I helped. For the $ I felt it best to have a Zetec person do it for me. If mine comes down I'll replace the rods, or just buy the 2.3 short block all set up depending on price at the time.
  3. Gert, I would ask the "good engine" engine builder on what bearings to use. If you don't have the HP oil pump I would add one also. If they are a good Zetec builder they will know. I have one I purchased for mine when or if I pull it down for an rear main seal. You have done well getting to where you are at. My feelings are not to skimp when into a job like this. You don't need to redo or loose an engine for very few extra $$$. At one time (20 years ago)I did all of my 911 Porsche & 12 cylinder engines. I never did a zetec and paid for a shop to do the P&P and stage III cams as well as the dyno tune. I think it is the best money I have spent in years. Too old to enjoy the learning errors again.
  4. How much for either one of those?
  5. Too Bad you are in the wrong side of the country, or you could hear how quiet my BURNS STAINLESS system is on my Birkin. It is a straight through system that can be repacked. I repacked mine with Stainless Steel Wool. It was coustom built for the car, prior to me buying the car. I hear more wind noise @ 70 MPH than exhaust. In WOT I hear more intake noise from my TBI's than exhaust. The total weight with short turned out tail pipe and short front pipe is 10 LBS. I'm told they are a little costly though. BURNS is out your way. Auger style muffler? Gary
  6. Gert, You move fast! Did you check the gap in the other cylinders with the same ring? It has been too many years for me, I also would be looking at the reason for the vertical lines. For me it would be time to have a GOOD engine rebuilder look at what you have. I sure would hate do not be 100% on and not do the best. The cost of them doing the rebuild could be well worth it. I likely would do the bearings as well while down that far. I can't add more to this, so best of luck. Gary
  7. Prior to doing anything else I would take it to a radiator or a shop and have them test for exhaust gas in the radiator, it is very low cost. At one point years ago I had one and when you would suck some air up through it I think it would turn yellow if there was exhaust gas in the radiator. If so head gasket time. As others said I think it is where to look. A Std. compression test should show, also as mentioned above reading the spark plugs can show. If it was me, I would gather all the info prior to pulling the head. It should point to what cyl. area to look at. The "Bear" knew about real power.
  8. I have also heard the rumor that at 173 @ 2:00 AM on a narrow 2 lane moon lit road wives will come unglued. As I understand it was to check out a high speed miss that wouldn’t show up till around 160 in 5th. 173 was also at the RPM redline BYW. The Miura S was reported to be god awful noisy in the higher RPM’s. Sounded like someone cutting a block of aluminum with a chain saw at full speed.
  9. From the old Fiberglass Impalas of years back to this car. Talk about reading and reacting to the market and being a world leader with auto technology. Not easy for a long time Porsche owner to admit to.
  10. My last M.H. had an Detroit 892 with the turbocharger and supercharger, it weighed more than a 7. At 5 MPG, I'm glad it is gone.
  11. I sure don't know what all of Ohio thinks, but I run with a very right leaning crowd. That being said, our new Dem. Gov. is doing a much better job than our last Rep Gov. he replaced, all of my friends share this view. Speaking of "change", I hope Pa. & Ohio can all go for McCain, even though we are not close to being 100% happy with some of his views. We don't live in a perfect country, but I think it is the best place to live in.
  12. Many citys are raising the cost of a speeding ticket to help recover the gas costs of the local crime fighters (speed enforcement). Now the talk of nationalizing the oil companies, what is happening to us in the USA?
  13. Loren, a turbocharger would have been better for lower sound than the S.C. You went the wronge direction!
  14. Waiting to see how the weekend goes. My Emerald has an 18" wired serial port plug on the end for programing with the laptop. I would think under the seat could get wet, my car has on a trip a few weeks ago. I also got wet! Gary
  15. My back yard is just a little bigger and I made one pass down it @ 402 MPH, but not in the 7.
  16. "If" the deal is as stated, shiva has more self control than I ever had. And then most of the money was returned? In all of my dealing I never had anything close to this.
  17. I just switched to 20-50 Redline from Mobil 1 10-30. It brought my idle oil pressure from 3.5 KPA to 5 KPA X 100. My max PSI is still 5.5 KPA at anything above idle.
  18. :7rain: Anyone know what aero-screens fit a Birkin? Anyone know if someone makes them in Polycarbonate? I like the shape of the aero-screen from http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/Default.aspx I would like to remove that speed brake style windshield from the Birkin. Gary
  19. Bob, add another camshaft to the engine.
  20. We had a great Fathers Day fly-in at our airport with a few hundred A/C here. I had 20 parked in my yard alone. We have this every Fathers Day. Many went in the hanger to see the 7. Our local daughter was here along with her 7 year old son. Good kid, he loves airplanes and the 7. Our son in Colorado called and will he here in a few weeks with his family. I hope all fathers had a day as good as mine.
  21. TM, who is the vendor on the aeroscreens in the UK? To bad there isn't a vendor here that do a Lexan clear one. The windshield is big drag, it collects more bugs than anything I have had. John, how do the mog seats fit you? Fixed or on a track? Do you set lower than the std. seats? Bruce, we we could start a 7 salvage yard, or just pick what we want off it and ship it to the next person. Gary
  22. I looked at Fluke & the CF prices. It looks like I could buy the Wire Wheel car and remove the CF parts for less money. Now I know where I fit in the food chain.
  23. I like the seats & aeroshield. Anyone have an idea where they came from?
  24. In West Texas, that is just a few drives to dinner. Us people back east & in the midwest pack cloths to drive 200 miles.
