1. I went on one of Ross's 3 day charity drives for the Round Up Ranch. One of the stops was at Round Up Ranch. To see kids desperately ill and having fun and their smiles was a great experience. The drive was for older sports cars. I had sold my Caterham by then but Ross allowed me to use my '16 Miata Club. I had a windshield banner "The Japanese Elan" on the car which was the name of my fund raising team. I managed to raise about $2,500 for the Ranch.
2. If the streets are wet or snow covered or I need to haul or tow something its my '19 Ram 1500 Big Horn. If the streets are dry and the temps above 25F its my '19 30AE Miata. With any luck a C8 Corvette will join the fleet in June. It will likely become the #1 daily driver until next winter.
3. I have a couple of pictures of the loaded luggage rack with spare tire from when he was loading it up to start the trip but none of the custom attachments.
4. I believe Alaskossie had one made for his Caterham. I haven't seen him on here for quite awhile. I'll shoot him an email and see if I can get him to post.
5. I also check it every day hoping my former Caterham SV shows up for sale.
6. The Miata.net forum is also fun, friendly, informative and bad behavior is not tolerated. Over the years a number of people have been banned. The answer to almost any Miata problem is on there.
7. Great article and video, thanks for posting it.
8. That looks like a camshaft position sensor at the back of the cam cover. Does your ECU not require that input? Will a shorter sensor with a shorter mount be on the new cam cover?
9. Sorry, I can't help you with that expectation how about a Miata on an outhouse? You knew I was going to post this.
10. Speaking of shooting brakes, here's a concept drawing of an ND Miata. If they would make this I would be compelled to buy one, just not in this color.
11. From the subject of the thread I was expecting to see a shooting brake version of the Caterham a la Chevy Nomad station wagon.
12. A friend sent me the link to the CL ad, perhaps someone on here could use these wheels https://denver.craigslist.org/wto/d/fort-collins-caterham-16x7-light-alloy/7202500605.html
13. You passed the test, a real car person would know that was a staged picture of something that could not happen.
14. I was 5' 8" and about 245 lb when I owned my SV. I was very comfortable with the factory cloth seats similar to Croc's in the picture. My problem came with getting out of the car, my right shoulder had 2 rotator cuff surgeries and there wasn't much strength in that arm and getting out was a strain. I built what I named the Caterham Butt Extractor to get out. An ATV winch was bolted to the roll bar behind the driver's seat using an existing hole. A series of climbing rope and pulleys attached to the roll bar and a canvas sling seat gave me the lift needed to raise my butt to door sill height and I could step out.
15. Not a wrap but I had my Caterham completely covered with clear bra. 11 years on the road and 28k miles and no sign of melting, not even around the hole where the 3" very hot down pipe from the turbo exited the body.
16. Mike, Thanks for the info on the CSR. Skip
17. Mike, What work does the CSR260 Need? The ad doesn't mention it and I don't see anything in the pictures.
18. Nathan is a great guy, he did the first alignment on my Caterham and then took me for a chilling ride through the streets of Denver at very extreme speeds. Showed me what the car was capable off. He is the source for Caterham knowledge and willing to share it. The shop he works for moved from Boulder to Lafayette, much closer to where I live and I drop by occasionally to chat and see what great old sports cars they are working on.
19. I trimmed and formed my front plate and mounted it on the chin spoiler. The mountains on the top were bent forward and formed to fit the nose cone and the COLORADO was bent and formed around the spoiler. The edges were trimmed back. The plate was pop riveted to the spoiler. 11 years and 28k miles and never busted for it which is a good thing because altering a license plate in Colorado is a felony. Almost all my other cars since I did this have had a similar treatment. Over the years I asked a number of cops, deputies, highway patrol officers and other keepers of the peace if they had a problem with the plate and the reply was always to the effect that if I can see the numbers I don't care about the rest.
20. No issues on my PC running Windows 7 and Firefox.
21. So sorry you didn't get a chance to really enjoy your Caterham. Hope it all works out for you and there is another one in your future. Do you know what that yellow apparatus is/does that is sitting behind your car?
22. The video in the middle of this article lays out how much money each team received for the 2016 season, the latest season the figures were available for. https://jalopnik.com/of-course-mercedes-wont-to-agree-to-a-more-equal-distri-1844659167?utm_source=jalopnik_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2020-08-09
23. Thanks Bob. I found a few below MSRP. However the convertible isn't available until October 2nd and I want to order it exactly the way I want it.
24. Thanks Taber, I am starting to phone all the Chevy dealers in the area to see if there is a shorter wait time I can sign up for.
