  1. Isn't this the same Westfield that was on eBay off and on about six times about a year ago from a dealer in Philly? They wanted way too much if I remember correctly.
  2. I am assuming that you are referring to run an overall smaller diameter tire with 13"? I doubt you will be able to redline your car in 5th if it has standard gearing even with the 13" wheels. Aerodynamics will kill you before you run out of gearing. You would likely accelerate better at the track with 13" wheels.
  3. 13" wheels tend to be lighter. That reduces your unsprung weight and thus improves the ability of your suspension to react to inputs, improving handling. It also improves acceleration and deceleration as there is less mass at the extremities of your wheel/tire combo.
  4. The Duratec motor is also lighter, so you will remove some weight and I think the CoG is a little lower on that unit as well. The CSR was probably the fastest car on a track Caterham offered until they brought out the R500.
  5. I didn't know you could change your BIN and ad a reserve once the auction had already started. Someone should have bought it yesterday and saved $1k.
  6. Not my car. Seems like a pretty good deal though. With the rotary, the COG is really helped. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZalgoQ3dSIQ26ituQ3dUCIQ252BUAQ252BFICSQ26otnQ3d8Q26pmodQ3d150455582040Q26poQ3dLVIQ26psQ3d63Q26clkidQ3d7608179683114260431QQ_trksidZp3907Q2em263QQcategoryZ7251QQitemZ330445651616
  7. I am curious about the half doors. I have been pondering getting at least a driver's side one that I can run with the tonneau cover. Does it help reduce buffeting like I have heard? Have you driven with and without it?
  8. Somebody got a louver press for Christmas.

  10. Yellowss7, would you mind sending me picks? I PM'd my email address to you. I am very glad to hear this. Any clearance issues?
  11. From your site: "Wide Track w Anti-Sway Bar". Are you running a wide track front suspension with the clam shells? I wasn't aware that would work. Seems that the wheels would stick out quite a bit.
  12. Ed has been trying to sell that car for nearly two years now. I thought pretty hard about it last year before I found my car.
  13. I agree. The easy of installation of the one in the photos I posted were a huge selling point to me. Plus, it would be very easy to get out of the way if you did need to pull the drive shaft etc. JohnCH suggested I just buy a carbon fiber driveshaft and be done with it.
  14. Skip, don't know how to get this. I hadn't really thought about it the need for one until I read this post. Now, I am thinking about the need for one. Seems like an easy to install and simple solution. I imagine someone could fab one up pretty easily based on these photos and the dimensions of the tunnel.
  15. I was looking for some wheels the other day and stumbled across this Caterham for sale listing for a Caterham that is run in NASA. http://www.lotusowners.com/ForSale/PDCat/index.htm "Competition Hamlin propshaft safety loop (NASA-approved)." http://www.nasasevens.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=263&g2_serialNumber=2 http://www.nasasevens.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=267&g2_serialNumber=2 http://www.nasasevens.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=270&g2_serialNumber=2
  16. Thanks Bart and John for your help. Between John's blown up Type 9 view he sent me and Bart's info I deem this mystery solved. I hope to change out the fluid this week. Thanks guys!
  17. Thanks for the great info Bart. So, while you are filling it you watch from the top plate opening to see when it hits the side drain plug mark? What oil are you running in your car?
  18. I definitely do not have a drain plug at the base. JohnCH is right in that some owners have modified the Type 9 with one. And I can see why on the Caterham. There is literally zero room between the driver's foot well and the side of the trans where the fill plug is. Seems like it means a transmission drop if you want to service it. That is unless others have serviced it successfully from the top plate. I can get at this pretty easily. Thoughts? Suggestions?
  19. With a typical Ford Type 9 trans, is it considered a no maintenance item (ie sealed for life) or do you want to change out the fluid on it? They don't appear to have drain plugs, and I have read in some places you simply might just want to top them off. What about a complete change out though? Do you suck out the old fluid out of the top plate and replace it with new stuff?
  20. Sure. Do you want to ride my unicorn in the mean time?
  21. No affiliation. Pretty inexpensive way to get a Caterham. http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/cto/1625371168.html "1988 caterham super-7,5spd,four wheel disk brakes,full weather gear,right hand drive,ford crossflow with twin weber dcoe 40 .630 301 2815 "
  22. If you expand your business or want more capacity, what you developed looks exactly like the "Potato Bed" trucks I used to drive in my youth. Although we used ours for seed wheat, the bed was designed for potato handling. It is basically identical to what you made, except it was powered via PTO, not a separate engine. Slab sided bed with lower third a v-bottom, and a conveyor belt base. You could control flow by conveyor speed and hatch opening rate. I bet you could get a pretty used cheap potato bed truck if you wanted something dedicated. Look in ID and WA as this is where I have seen them most often.
  23. Interested in the sump guard and the rear under floor panel. On the sump guard I am curious as to your thoughts on why not to extend it to protect the underside of the pan as well. I am thinking of things like speed bumps that are higher than you thought etc. I know you will have warning in the form of a scrape on the protector, but if you are going more than 1 mph that might not be enough. Also things like potholes where you might dip a wheel once you have passed the guard section.
  24. That site is not legit at all. It is owned and run by a company that does search engine marketing for several of the companies listed on this 'service'. If you want particular recommendations, drop me a PM. I know the industry well.
  25. That big Recaro race seat with the flared headrest area seems like it would catch a ton of air as well.
