  1. A spridget would work well for engine, transmission, rear end but there isn't much power. If you were to go with a Ford engine I would go with a Ford transmission. It is rare to hear of transmission problems with Elan's which use the Lotus twin cam on a Ford base along with the transmission. Starting with good parts is important. It is easy to drop $6K on a spridget engine rebuild.
  2. My wife and I are big fans of LOG having only missed one since 1987. There is always lots to do and plenty of cars to see although you never know what will show up. We have made friends with many people over the years. It is an excellent place to make contacts with people and get new ideas. If you are a newcomer to auto-X or track events it is a good place to start. There will be people with experience in whatever you drive who are willing to help you out. Safety is very important to Lotus Ltd and their events reflect this. I urge everyone to attend a LOG if they can.
  3. Great picture of you t2o (kind of like Se7en). Enjoy.
  4. Nice. What is that other yellow car?
  5. For all things related to Lotus Sevens see the email reflector lotus@se7ens.net http://www.simplesevens.com and the Historic Lotus Register John Watson. If it is a real Lotus Seven someone will likely have information on it. There is a lot of outright fraud in selling these cars as well as a lot of "fudging" for registration. Good luck.
  6. The mini 7 is way cool. You do nice work.
  7. MightyMike; You are a man man!
  8. Hopefully they can put the money they save into big time college sports.
  9. A good road is a good find. Last October I was disappointed driving the Oregon coast highway. It just wasn't the way I remembered it from 1980. Please post pictures of buns...
  10. A BRG car with an the typical Lotus yellow stripe, but polished aluminum and yellow pin striping is my definition of a cool looking series 2/3. Save This Nose

    Trinidad Seven

Sweet, like the trials cars of old.
  12. If you can fit it; make a copy of the pattern and fit it to the back side of the dash. Insure that the patterns on both sides line up. By doing this you can be sure that pesky tubes, brackets, hoses... won't be in the way. Good luck and keep posting pictures.

    Alberta Blat

I met several people in the neighborhood when they came out to help push the 7 back home. This happened several times until the problem was found to be the mechanical fuel pump, then the new fuel pump.
  14. Like the other I'm glad that you are OK. Relax, count your blessings and rebuild.
  15. Concerning safety - until the advent of seat belts, crush zones... and paramedics crashing on a public highway was much more dangerous. Even in the early 70's an ambulance attendant was doing a good job if they tossed you in the back of the Cadillac station wagon and got you to a hospital.
  16. I don't have a bucket list but if I did the watching the TT would be on it. 25 years ago riding it would have been on the list.
  17. I saw the smoke. No fair stopping the video just when it gets interesting. What is the idle rpm?
  18. The trouble is find cool looking (and cool temperature wise) goggles that fit over glasses.
  19. Nice. It did make me think that the only thing that confuses me more than driving my RHD car in a LHD country would be driving a RHD car in a RHD country or the worst driving a LHD in a RHD country.
  20. Toga Toga...
  21. Brake flares and fitting keep me confused. There are too many fittings that look similar but are incompatible. Good job.
  22. So how about a crash and burn party at your place?
  23. Thanks for the posts.
