Porsche "911s" (I think it is funny that they are still called 911 and not 9xx or whatever) are for posers. They should all come with automatic late machines and a coupon for a face lift/hair transplant! In the Porsche world I would like a Boxter with an auto box (so my wife would drive it) as a daily driver. I really would like one, 2003 or newer. On the other hand all Se7ens should have I-4 engines & skinny tires. That's just how I think the world should work.

Those tires are massive! What engine, HP, torque, ... does it take to turn those monsters? We need to meet up to drive vintage Sevens this spring.

In 2011 we drove our 1991 Lotus Elan (M100) from VA to LOG 31 in Las Vegas via the West Coast. The first 3 photos are from the OR state park at the mouth of the Columbia River. Further down the coast we saw this Tsunami warning sign (as if all the official a much bigger impact than the official warning signs). Finally from the Umpqua_Lighthouse we watched the Coast Guard train in the waves. An excellent training site. Almost standing waves, yet a bit to one side or the other it was calm. Anyone considering going to the WCLM - West Coast Lotus Meet should consider the coastal route.

I would like to drive Thompson CT. It is close to where I grew up. The road course became inactive before I was old enough to go there.

A totaled new Caterham due to salt water. There is an opportunity there for someone with more time than money.

Odd how when I first saw the car I thought of it as a equally beautiful and affordable alternative to the Porsche 917. I still think they are beautiful, not pretty.

Reserve a hotel room now to insure you get a room at the LOG hotel! I expect it to fill up. Once the registration form is posted on either http://www.lotusowners.com/LOG33/ or http://www.lotuscarclub.org/ take advantage of the early-bird registration rate. The registration fee for non-members includes 1 year of membership. I suggest joining now in order to start getting the bi-monthly magazine, stay abreast of what is going on and get a feel for the club.

The majority of people usually arrive on Friday in time to: unload the car, clean up (especially if they drive a Se7en), register, take a look at the cars, get a quick drink and attend the evening reception. Usually the reception has enough finger food to satisfy all but the most famished. The reception never really ends, the food just runs out and people migrate to the hotel's common areas to continue talking, drinking and looking at cars. The hard core LOGgers and some who want to do some tourist activities will arrive at the hotel sometime Wednesday or Thursday. The trick on these days is look for Lotus logos and say hello. Impromptu groups form for meals and sightseeing. Maybe: 1/4 leave Sunday evening, 1/3-1/2 Monday, either in the morning or after visiting the Glenn for a bit. The rest fade away Tuesday and beyond. Nice looking cars. Especially the Elan and Europa. The Aston/Jag not so much. It's not totally safe to admit on this forum that I prefer my cars "real". I would rather have an Aston or a Jag than that car. Nice looking work though.

I envy you folks. I would like to build a car or do a full up rebuild of a car. The cost in time and money always keeps me from committing to a build. Keep the pictures and write-ups coming.

We have made our reservations. Last time few times we were up that way we enjoyed it. We have visited the Corning Museum of Glass http://www.cmog.org several times (top notch museum), National Soaring Museum (Elmira) taken sailplane lessons, visited wineries, driven the back roads walked Corning's Gaffer District (hide the credit cards) This time I hope to visit the Rockwell Museum of Wester Art (now that I confirmed that it does not contain Norman Rockwell drivel). I may also visit the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center although it seems a bit too much child centric.

A new set of shocks and spring are on their way from Dave Bean Engineering.

That's why I'm going to bet stiffer rear springs.

Get a tonneau cover fitted, make a new transmission cover and fit new higher rate rear springs. Maybe a new set of Dunlap R5 cross ply vintage racing tires. If everything falls into place a new dashboard with a full set of correct instruments & switchgear but I'm afraid that will have to wait another year. I need a set of hubcaps made but that may have to wait for a more wealthy owner.

I think $18K is reasonable for a series 1 in this condition. It has been validated (although I would check with the registrar), It originally delivered with a BMC-A engine which makes it very drivable. The 15' turner wheels are quite rare. Most of the difficult to source parts are included. With a bit more space and cash that car would be mine.
