  1. Interesting take on the rear end frame. Same with the central transmission tunnel framing.
  2. On another forum someone said a funny along the lines of - The 70's called, they want the twin angled shocks back. Certainly I would rather rid one of these than a Harley style chopper.
  3. Certainly mention them to your eye Dr. during your next visit. Flashes and or fuzzy patches are cause for visit.
  4. When Chuck Norris has nightmares... They are about Christopher Walken!
  5. There is great joy in being able to drive your car into the trailer. I can do it provided I have a 2x6 under the ramp and jack the front of the trailer up about 4 inches.
  6. So turbocharged with variable cam timing on both cams?
  7. That is one of the uses of duck tape, insulating negative ground components from positive ground.
  8. Carpet? What kind of luxury barge has carpets? Dragging our portable dehumidifier into the garage and firing up the space heater did a good job on one of our other cars.
  9. There are two widths of enclosed trailers. Those with the sides inside of the wheels and those with the sides outboard of the wheels. It makes a big difference in what you can see in back. One nice thing is that low weight of a 7 allows you to use a motorcycle trailer. I have a V nose all aluminum featherlight. If I were racing or doing lots of track days I would like a bigger trailer to hold all the canopies, tools, chairs... I tow with a Ford Ranger with an after market electronic brake controller and suction cup extension mirrors. A trailer mounted RF back up camera would be a very nice addition. I get 11-13 mpg towing depending on terrain. It would not work in the wester mountains. OK on the east coast.
  10. Once upon a time at LOG my wife was riding with Kate in her Seven (no top) when the rain started. The windshield had water on both sides. Their eye glasses had water on both sides. They were soaked. A bit later in the drive the sun came out. Everyone and everything was dry by the time they got back to the hotel.
  11. http://andywiltshire.com/web%20site%20lotus%20page.htm should be able to supply just about anything
  12. Now that was entertaining!
  13. Fancy in the matching yellow. Will you use yellow padding or go contrasting?
  14. Welcome. The email group dealing with Lotus 7's is lotus@se7ens.net you should introduce yourself there. It has almost constant arguments concerning orthogonality and what is "proper". Given the tens of thousands of dollars difference between authentic and authentically restored cars and others it pays to be consider the these things.
  15. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately we will be in a rental car not a 7.
  16. So what is there to do near Crater of Diamond State Park? I see that it is not close by Parker’s Chapel but we can use some advice. We will be going there for a few days in the spring.
  17. It doesn't look like you will have a lot of rear suspension travel. 4-6 inches?
  18. Reminds me of the phrase "Your ugly and your mother dresses you funny"
  19. Oh those crazy Canadians!
  20. A lot of that has to do with owner of non-Lotus cars putting Lotus badges on their car. Sometimes it is to fool the DMV sometimes to add a bit of prestige. I wish everyone was proud of their Se7en independent of the origin. To my mind the coolest cars are those who were totally scratch built.
  21. If I had the money I would collect monstrosities like the above. Folk art of a different aesthetic.

    Handeling Thread

The biggest changes to handling on a Se7en seem to be the tiers and how much lard is in the cockpit. If I could drop 50lbs my car would be much quicker. I read about the guys who restore a low cc Italian sport bike then find it isn't as nice as they remember. 30 years of rose colored glasses and middle age spread kills their dream.
  23. My series 1 rolls like that. The distance between the tire and the wing is telling.
  24. Se7ens are a bit like boats. People tend to buy the boat they think they want rather than the boat that fits how they actually use a boat. It would probably be a good thing to experience Se7en ownership and tune your desire before going fully custom. One other thing. You might have noticed how these cars are never actually finished. There is always something you want to do to them. Good luck.
  25. Caterham & Lotus make the list. Yea! http://www.cartalk.com/content/ten-best
