For Slatter, I can provide a scan of what I found. I cannot attach PDF here but can email a PDF on Monday if you PM me your email address. I am pretty sure he is still alive as post-1980 history is missing.

Yes. I can confirm its Barry Allan Callahan. Sunsrest was the family's farm property name. It was also the name of his website - now defunct after his passing. Obituary in the link - page 11: http://www.mt-evelyn.net/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/107-Things-Past-November-2017.pdf To give some contetxt, Slatter was living in Ormond VIC. Callanan was living in Lilydale VIC which is 40 min drive away from Ormond. The Lakeland Hillclimb is on the outskirts of Lilydale. Sandown is a suburb of Melbourne a short drive away. Knowing his age, he sold when he was 61. I guess he realized he was getting too old to be getting in and out of the seven. If you want to get an idea of the Lakeland Hillclimb then these links will give an idea http://www.speedwayandroadracehistory.com/melbourne-lakelands-hillclimb.html

Not with Vlad - he usually exits backwards. :jester: Current standard sizes for a S3/SV are 6 wide or 8 wide. CSR standard rear was 8.5 for my silver CSR. You can get 9 wide rears for a CSR and they do exist for a SV or S3 even though not standard. Vlad's set up is fairly common. I run a stagger set up on the 420 - 6x13 front and 8x13 rear - works quite well. If I was below 200hp I would go a square set up for wheel widths.

https://jalopnik.com/at-30-000-would-you-race-to-buy-this-street-able-197-1841490326 Do you think a bunch of pre-pubescent teens and nerdy college drop outs get why you would buy this Ultralite or any other seven for that matter?

And for the best bit of news, I think they are better than the CR500 being replaced

No bowl needed. I have intestinal fortitude.

Didn’t that sash read “Miss USA7s Drag Queen”? Appropriate for a Stalker driver - fast in a straight line!

I use Avon ZZS on my silver CSR in 15 inch wheel size and they originally were on CR500. Just bolted on with no clearance issues. Not much help as it is a CSR not a SV. I also have the ZZS on 13 inch wheels on my 420R but as that was from the beginning I suspect it had the special stays you refer to from original build.

Alas my garage is not big enough and I need something larger....:troll: My place needs a maid's quarters or failing that somewhere for my track bitch to hide And for those who were not there, that was one epic funny dinner.

Bingo - found him. Let me sift things and work out what happened.

Comes with its own race track.

The explanation for 111 and 49 is that the parents lived in the same street. I found a reference for Barry's mother living in the same street. His official address with the Federal Government was number 49.

The garage and the house that comes along with it are for sale. The wife is well looked after as the house has a two story dressing room and shoe room. As an aside I know one forum member here has a wife with a shoe room bigger than the second bedroom in my condo. Sadly the garage and house are located in Florida, land of the straight and flat. But for those who have the money, such as Microsoft millionaires, HR flunkeys, psychologists, vets, attorneys, etc, a measly $20M is a drop in the bucket. Listing here https://www.smithandassociates.com/listing/FL/Thonotosassa/12321-Fort-King-Highway-33592/90679833 Fortunately this poor janitor cannot afford it.

Somewhat off tangent, I found an old pic of Lotus 7s at Sandown. Attributed to 1964 but that could be off a year. Any of these yours? Comes from this website https://aussieroadracing.homestead.com/GavinFry.html Some great old photos on there to distract!

Henry - Had some people doing some research. Here's what I know so far: There is no record of John D Slatter or variations thereof (i.e. Slater, Slattery, drop the D, etc) on any immigration or passenger manifest in the 1963-1968 window in Melbourne. There is a vaguely similar match in Fremantle Western Australia but not close enough. There is no record of such a person on any of the Australian electoral rolls or passport records. Thats the outcome if he was just a foreign (UK is foreign) tourist with a car for a some touring then left one day after selling the car there and heading home to GB without car? . Its possible the name you have has modified over time with memory. What original source did you have for his name/coming into Melbourne? I can go direct to the year and vessel and search. Its easier than people think. Population of the entire country at the time was only about 6-7 million people and all records have been digitized and made searchable. Now Barry Callanan is a different matter. There are 2 that match him. Contestant one appears to have lived at 49 David Road Lilydale, VIC 3140 Aus. This individual passed in 2017. Was an electrical engineer. No record of classic car club membership. The second Barry Callanan is in Echuca VIC. He competes in the Geelong Revivals (Motoring Festival and Time Trials) and seems to be a past owner of English classic cars. He is currently running a 1962 J&S Hunter (an old Australian kit car that copied a TVR of the same year that he restored starting 2014). He feels like the person who would own a Lotus 7. I have contacts in the VHRR who are based at Sandown and can ask them to open up the archives for old race results if you can give me a year. These are all paper records so need some focus before I have them look. No photos in the searchable archives for Slatter or Callanan racing. Struck out on that one.

We had one access to one on this forum at one point, no idea what happened to it. Also this forum has the ability to do a similar member mapping function from my recent discussions with JohnCh - he was exploring the idea. Whichever one we use its a good idea. My only concern is I do not use FacePlant given the privacy issues - is there a requirement to be on FF?

That Diva has been for sale for a long time now in AZ. Started at $45k from memory and has steadily reduced since then to $26k The thing about Divas is they are HUGE. The ad photos really don’t give you true scale. I know a Stalker has a Beyoncé-sized ass but the Diva is a full on heifer. -
Barry is still alive in Sydney if it’s the same one I am thinking of. John Slatter may also be alive. He is not surfacing at all in the databases and that only happens when a person is alive - protects their privacy. More work needed to run this to ground.
-
Do you have John Slatter's approximate birth date? It was a required field to be noted on the Oz immigration books. I can pull his record up once I know his approximate age. The date confusion will almost certainly derive from avoiding import taxes. At the time and up until fairly recently, new cars were slugged a hefty import tax as you brought them into Australia unless you could demonstrate you owned it overseas for more than 12 months prior to departing. From vague recollection I think it effectively doubled the car's cost. A little backdating seems to have likely occurred. I remember a certain family member doing the same in the 1970s and 1980s on importing a car from the UK. I know a few sources for old racing photos in Australia. Did he race in period?
