  1. Daniel - Both are using the V6.
  2. There are 2 separate projects underway to put Ecoboost engines into a Caterham SV and a Birkin XS. However, they are using a larger Ecoboost engine than the one you are inquiring of.
  3. Well done Sean - brilliant tip. I have been cursing the loss of search on Blatchat. I would not put on the new Blatchat - they will take down the old site if they know we know. Usual IT promises - they always seem to turn a perfectly good orgy into a clusterf$%%....oh wait...you are IT!
  4. Hello Dingo...or is Meryl Streep? Your comments on the Oregon Arch chassis clone are spot on. Sadly it needs work based on another forum member's message. From that I concluded it needs to come down in price to allow for the extra. Otherwise its sort of just like a Caterham without the price premium of a true S3 Lotus 7. 18 inch wheels on a seven is clearly a New York thing. Thank you for correcting me on the revolution wheels - I had them later in my mind.
  5. Hemmings ads 2002 SV for $34500 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/caterham/super-7/1773111.html 1979 Caterham 7 crossflow for $20k although I think I saw a forum member chasing it midweek so it may have gone already...but will it be back for sale shortly at $30k? http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/caterham/super-7/1765801.html 2000 Caterham Superlight "R500" also separately advertised on this forum. Asking $30k http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/caterham/superlight-r500/1757619.html 2012 Caterham SUperlight R400 asking $59000 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/caterham/unspecified/1729179.html 1964 Lotus 7 S2 asking $36500 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lotus/super-seven/1768308.html The dealer masturbation award winner from Gateway Classic Cars is back with their Westfield asking $36995 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super-seven/1763637.html I am not bothering to post Wayne C's Lotus 7 as I will post it again next year when it is still for sale.
  6. Barney the Dinosaur! The purple Westfield is back. I quite like the color and the car. The wheels are a shocker and should be replaced ASAP. I also hate all caps ads. http://tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/5200408918.html 1958 Lotus 7 that needs restoration and I would guess some fact checking verification. Listed on Cincinnati craigslist but is located in AZ? Seeks $25000 http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/5217456408.html Stalker SC v6 in AZ for $28000 http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/cto/5226024560.html Unfinished Locost 7 kit in TX for $1200 As you can see by the pleading ad, the wife is withholding sex privileges until cleans out the garage. My view is that he should get rid of the wife - cheaper and the garage toys don't slap you back. http://austin.craigslist.org/cto/5226971139.html 1962 Lotus 7 freshly restored - asking $44500 in FL (despite being on CA plates?). Despite that the ad features some horrific poor quality photos and even some fingers in frames. And if you can adjust to the fuzzy views I fancy I can see some Caterham parts so it looks like they cheated. Revolution wheels would not have been on a 62 car? Hard to tell as the ad photo quality is just ridiculously bad. Pity as it looks really nice overall. http://jacksonville.craigslist.org/cto/5216024604.html Locost project for $1500 http://rochester.craigslist.org/cto/5204430822.html Locost aloooominum (or aluminium) mid engined car mid project $5000. 7. In case you are wondering where the instrument panel thread disappeared to, well, Dan started a new thread here to allow discussion to continue without getting chopped up by the for sale links. Here is its new location: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?10713-Instruments-in-Westfield-panel This week we have something interesting. Palatov D2 Asking $79888 which seems reasonable for the performance possibilities of embedding yourself into fellow motorists, buildings, bridges, etc. Being mid engine I would be wary of it biting me on lift off if I was driving. One thing that surprised me is how heavy it is - its as lead happy as a Stalker - which some lovable space cadet has already proved that with an LS engine you can reach take off velocity but not quite escape velocity for orbit... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Palatov-D2-/171928993040?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2807c43d10&item=171928993040 As an aside I love the dealer name "Cats Exotic" Try googling that (as I did) and you will have kitty galore on your browser and none of it relevant to the dealership. Must be owned by someone who has no idea of how to succeed on the internet. Locost build based of a Triumph 1500 that almost certainly rusted away in the 70s. Current bid at $6955 and no reserve with 16 hours to run. May end up being a bargain locost? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-LOTUS-7-/331653482541?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d3816882d&item=331653482541 Then we have the reappearance of Robin Hood. A little seen seven brand here in the US. Not finished. No title and no MCO so that is a killer for some states on getting registered. Starting bid of $10700 with 7 days to run and no reserve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-LOTUS-SUPER-SEVEN-FROM-ROBIN-HOOD-ULTRA-LIGHT-/201430853018?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ee636e59a&item=201430853018 Any one looking for a Panoz AIV? I have come 10 of them this morning all for sale. Not sure why so many up for sale now? Here is one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Panoz-AIV-Roadster-/400995151684?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5d5d2c6f44&item=400995151684 Its not a seven but it will certainly out handle one. It also proves my theory that you could register anything for the road in Florida. Street legal "indy car". Oh geez - and here I am worried about driving a Caterham on the road. With this bad boy you could take out an SUV sump with your head and be a speed bump to mommy on a grocery run. Perfect for all occasions. But why is it 2000 pounds? Was it made out of heavy gauge sheet steel? Opening bid at $15000 with 4 days to run. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-Indy-Street-Legal-open-cockpit-/181872462131?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a58718933&item=181872462131 Repeat. Locost V8 autocross car. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/5228239176.html Its back but the price is now down to $25500. Methinks it has further to go. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/ctd/5223369730.html End of part 1
  8. Another one seen on Fleabay today - Triumph 1500 based Locost in BRG http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-LOTUS-7-/331653482541?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d3816882d&item=331653482541 and a Robin Hood seven http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-Kit-Makes-LOTUS-SUPER-SEVEN-FROM-ROBIN-HOOD-ULTRA-LIGHT-/201430853018?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2ee636e59a&item=201430853018
  9. Does anyone want a Lotus 11 replica by Westfield? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Other-/252090949036?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3ab1ca9dac&item=252090949036 So help me out here - is this right hand drive or left hand drive or should I be confused and just sit straddling the tunnel? :iamwithstupid: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/OUwAAOSwQPlV9h9F/$_57.JPG
  10. I just love that! The last photo of you with an indecently huge smile is just great. :seeya:
  11. The contact details for the lady are here - Alaskossie also asked. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?6281-Croc%92s-new-CSR-Superlight&p=53783#post53783 Also have a search by wind blocker. There are a few threads on it over the years. Alas, my car now has patina - stone chips, a little dirty because I have not washed it for a month, etc. but I love it all the same. I believe you should drive cars rather than make it a concours sculpture never driven. A seven especially so. None of my cars are show ponies - they have lavish mechanical care, a full detail once a year but I don't try to touch up their driving scars. I know all about the dilly dallying. I am doing the same on some of my car projects right now.... But my prevailing view is life is not a dress rehearsal - go do it!
  12. Yes. I started with the Soft Buts for Sevens wind blocker but felt it could be improved on. I then found a lady selling mesh wind blockers on Fleabay and bought that for $10. You can sort of see it attached to my roll bar in this photo. http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/seats/CSR/May%202011/DSC_5478_edited-1.jpg The mesh blocker is better than the SBFS version and does cut down buffeting. It is mesh with a double edging to which lots of little velcro tabs then wrap around the roll bar. It also noticeably cuts down on water getting flung on to the back of your neck when driving on a wet road. As for the mirrors, I have the Spa carbon (effect...not really) look attached to the windscreen. Caterham USA had little metal adapters that allow the Spa mirrors to be screwed onto the windscreen frame and not impact the perspex deflectors. Have you bought another seven?
  13. I am pretty sure it is the same car I saw a while back on the north coast of MA. When I looked at it then it looked great from 10 feet but up close the details did not work. Lots of Caterham parts used rather than the correct Lotus repro parts available in the UK. I could buy that nice Caterham in MD for $19k if I wanted that look. Also having owned an S2 (called Elvis!) I much prefer my modern Caterham. An addition to the list. This weekend you can bid or watch Mecum as they have this Stalker for sale: https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/DA0915-222750/0/1962-Brunton-Lotus-S7-Replica/5-Speed/ On race-cars.com it was asking $39500 for a long time. No estimates presented on the website. I love the blue and white look. I suspect he won't get his asking price at auction either - its too out of the mainstream for what people are looking for. Either way it is the only time I know of a seven going though a mainstream auction house like Mecum (upmarket like Sotheby's and Bonhams do not count). It will be interesting to see what bids result.
  14. Congratulations Architect - I think you got an excellent deal. Glad it surfaced for you. Happy driving! :driving: Now now Panamericano, there is nothing stopping me trying to apply logic even if there is none on Fleabay with most, nearly all, sellers. I never said the result was sensible which should fit in with your world view of Fleabay!
  15. Hi Steve - I think you saw a Fleabay auction strategy. I bet his reserve was around $35k and he started the auction low for bidding at $26k - low enough to get some interest and bid activity going. The BIN was probably just above the reserve. I am guessing but that seems to be the logic to explain the numbers.
  16. Thanks Skip - I was not convinced it was a photo shadow/reflection. Here are some more ads from Hemmings the lovely blue 2003 Superformance S1 advertised on the forum separately is also listed here at $25000 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/superformance/s1-roadster/1768081.html 2002 Caterham SV asking $34500. 17. Anyone need an SV? 1 day to run on this auction. Interestingly this is a Duratec despite being a 2003 chassis. The photos are not really clear but there maybe an exhaust patch from an earlier Zetec on the sideskin? Nice looking color scheme. Bidding at $26k and reserve not met. My guess he wants well into the $30s area. 18. Its not all bad. Even without VTEC the car sounds fantastic. Video quality and sound is excellent - so nothing wrong with the analog operator. And I love the circuit - I want to try that one day. Your driving was looking good to me - overtaking all manner of 4 wheeled chicanes. Interestingly your wheel shuffling at points marks you as having a lot of track experience early on with production-based cars and their slooooow steering before moving to the seven. A couple of questions though: Are you allowed to wear shorts on track days? I have not seen that since I lived in Australia and New Zealand. What camera/mic did you use? Is your VTEC problem mechanical or electrical? I assumed it was engaged mechanically at a certain rev point but then this is not the first time I have been clueless and never had a deeper look to edumacate meself.
  19. Hi David - Good to see you are still around. You may not recall but you did meet Scott L and Michael D at the Gettysburg LOG.
  20. Easy - you do that all sessions :troll:
  21. I have always found Michael a little toey!
  22. BRS? I was initially thinking it was some proprietary Brunton Recovery System. Then I looked at the video and saw it was just a balls-up recovery system after you wear them as earings during certain scary accidents.
  23. Well that sucks - my computer crashed half way through posting the updated sales list. So here is a quicker version of it.
