I'm installing a pair of front mud flaps to cut down on debris and dirt. (Ok, I'm just lazy and getting tired of having to clean my car every week). I've tracked down some bigheads fastenèrs for mounting, but would like to know what others have used for flaps? What works for you? And more importantly what hasn't worked? Cheers

I'm an old Jersey boy in exhile: so i can't speak from experience but definitely recommend looking into registration legalities if you plan to drive on the street. As i understand it registration in NJ has become more complicated in recent years and may need to be considered as well.

Josh. Search the archives for all the sage advice previously written. Be forewarned, my biggest mistake was riding in a se7en: it has been down hill from there with no regrets. I almost bought one the next week but held out another month for a wide track kit from Dick. PM me for details or if you go with a Birkin. Also check your state regs depending on your intended use. Can anyone comment from experience on the receptiveness of NH & ME (and possibly MA/VT) to registering a Seven? I have the opportunity of moving to NH or ME and am not sure how heavily to weigh my birkin mistress in deciding where to live. cheers

Blatantly off topic... Is an avatar change in order now that you've become fully acquainted with the Birkin?

I've requested quotes online from several carriers. This has resulted in a deluge of offeres. These have generally been ~ 6-700 open carrier, and ~ 1100 closed. This is also for a KY -> NH move.

I find my birkin (wind wings, no doors) has more noise at speed from wind buffeting than the exhaust.

A quick search here hasn't turned up much information. Does anyone have RECENT experience shipping their se7ens? (closed carrier, etc..)? Others report good experience with passport but i expect there are other acceptable options. I'm old fashioned and like referrals, especially considering the plethora of companies out there. Thanks

Insurance coverage seems to be a bit arbitrary (see old posts for this) another place to check is american collectors http://www.americancollectors.com/. They offered to insure my birkin without any hassle. however i've gone elsewhere so i don't have experience beyond their quote. good luck

A dry day in Oregon? I had to wait 5 months for a dry day when I was in PDX. I hope this year is more obliging.

Have you considered a celing mounted winch attached to a climbing harness. It would only help in your garage but may do the trick with minimal engineering. good luck

After setting out on a Blat today my GPS thought there was a place called "Lotus" in kentucky. Sadly there was no customary "Lotus KY" sign to photograph my car with. Here is what I found It is not exactly what I was hoping for, but is satisfactory in the end.

martiki6 It is definitely worth your time to call the assorted principal importers (Birkin & Caterham, and the domestics like Brunton). They may also know about second hand clams or other cars (shameless plug... Kitcat's caterham is a great!). Another resource to check would be the locost folks. If you can't buy it, these guys usually know how to make it. If you have not yet, I strongly recommend getting a ride in as many sevens as you can. You may find the car is not to your liking, or (like me) it'll be the final nail in your coffin. Regardless of what you end up with (lotus, caterham, birkin, brunton, locost, westfield, etc....) do what makes you happy! cheers.

Yikes, kidney stones are no bueno. Maybe more time in the se7en for some home made lithotripsy? A basic question, but have you tried removing the interior side panels to make room for the seats?

I think i picked up the bug driving through Ohio yesterday. Tried to go for a blat tonight, only to find my voltage dropping, and alternator not contributing. Fortunately i was able to limp home before she outright quit. If it were daytime i'd probably have seen Lucas' smoke leaking out....
